This was a really fun, back to basics Superman story--- where Superman stands out as, well, Superman because he's not only the strongest guy on the page (not that Chemo was easily overcome--- and I hope that he will return someday to threaten our heroes), but the most heroic and noble! An excellent debut, Doc, and a great set-up piece for the next two exciting issues!

What a great story! I felt like I was actually reading a Superman comic. The pacing was excellent, the visuals were great, the ending was surprising! Great length too! I was impressed that Supes left him on the moon thinking it would be the perfect prison instead of tossing him into the Sun. You made Superman do what Superman, in the comic, would have done... know what I mean . Excellent & dynamic cover Roy! Keep up the great work. Two thumbs way, way up!

Super beginning Doc. I really enjoyed your take on Superman's feelings about being the closest to a living god that this world has, and how he deals with all the death and starvation and evil despots that run this world. Also a great bit of realism in the reactions of the locals when they see an American. As a self proclaimed liberal it was nice to point out that with Supes ties to America, he may not always be seen as hero. Can't wait for more!

Thanks for the great comments guys! I molded this story much closer to the silver age Superman tales of my youth, rather than the modern version. I agree about Roy's great cover. I think he really got behind my story and created a cover that captured the spirit of Superman I was trying to achieve. Next issue features a markedly different Superman study, a bit more humour and a special guest star. Hope you all tune in! Meanwhile, keep those letters rolling in.

Wow! One of the best Superman tales so far! I loved the brawl with Chemo and Clark's decision to imprison him on the Moon. The pacing was perfect and the end had my jaw on the ground. Great job!

Thanks for the kind words guys, it's easy when you start with a great story. I loved doing this cover, BTW Is it the first DCU2 cover the feature the change from Clark to Superman? I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm ready for my next cover Dr.

Thanks. Hopefully, I can write more jaw dropping scenes in the next two issues. ;D I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm ready for my next cover Dr. Thanks Roy. Just doing the finishing touches to the first draft and I'll be sending it to you and Idlewidler.

CHEMO! You know that made the story for me. Very well done, Doc, and very smartly written. The pacing, characterization, and action all balance perfectly. Can't wait to read more, sir! Roy, what a great idea for a cover! Too cool! And Ramon, big thanks for dressing this with logos, etc.

Great beginning to your arc Doc! You are having a great week with this plus the great SS cover! It's not fair that the artists can spin exciting yarns! What will us talentless hacks do if that keeps happening? I can't draw a straight line with a ruler! I love the way you were able to tell such a visual tale in prose! Makes me jealous! Interesting how it took a child to come forward to get the adults to come around concerning Superman. Now what the heck is Superman being arrested for? I guess I will have to swing by next month and find out!

"Keep it simple, stupid." An old adage that comic books sometimes ignore, but you did wonderfully here. This did come off as very Silver Age, but in a good way...and do I detect a hint of political commentary here? The ending was a good shock, and I'll be sure to come back and find out just what the fudge is up! One bad note: the kid coming forward was cliche, but again, this tale rang of the Silver Age, so I'm letting it slide.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Your right Susan, it was kind of cliche and was meant to pull the heart strings slightly. I realized writing that last chapter, a short speech by Superman was not going to change the jaded hearts of men (unless he uses super-hypnotism ). The kid coming forward seemed a faster way of getting the adults to trust Superman.

Chemo! All right! Definitely has the feel of an "old school" Superman tale, right down to the "shock" ending. Glad to hear you'll be adding more humor. Most of the Superman stories so far have been so depressingly HEAVY.
