Great job all around. Well done writing and a killer cover made for a more then enjoyable read! Thanks to DC2's Aquaman I've actually decided to start collecting DC's again. This issue was truly the best so far.

Thanks B! I couldn't ask for a better compliment. Sounds like a great time to start reading the comic!
Hopefully these stories will keep getting better with every issue. I'll do my best to make this a fun ride!

Brandon,
Issue 2 was fantastic! From the word ‘go’ I knew Krell was a gnarly bastard. I can’t wait to see where issue 3 leads us! Also, the cover was another example of your great visual story-telling ability! I cannot wait to see you render a drawing of Atlantis (I remember seeing a pencil sketch based off the Y1 arc).
Again you show examples of your maritime knowledge…
I have to say I read this after reading issue # 37 of Aquaman (released today)… I enjoyed your story much more. And again… the perfect length.
Bring on issue 3!
Scott

I'm with Scott on this one. It seems our illustious AD has some hidden depths (not to mention some literary and writing chops!)...
I love this take on Aquaman: nostalgic enough to make us recall why the character is so cool (think Alex Ross' Justice), but original enough to make him interesting again.
More than any other DC2 title, this one harkens back to the heyday of the Silver Age (look at that cover!), and promises some good old fashioned grand adventuring.
Before I saw the cover to this week's issue, I envisioned James Mason as Krell, but the Sean Connery imagery is very apt. And just what does the knave have locked up behind that door? Where's the Trident of Neptune? And what the heck is going on in Atlantis?!?
Loved the Golden Age shout-out to Neptune Perkins (any chance we'll see a Who's Who entry for him in February, KSM?)!
Very satisfying issue. Can't wait until the concluding chapter next month!

Thanks, Scott! I'm pretty excited about the new direction in the monthly coming up soon. I think it sounds like it will be much more like a young Arthur, which you can tell I'm all for. And thanks David. Honestly, I was going more for a Mason and Ernest Hemingway thing, but you're certainly right about the Sean Connery resemblance. I like the idea of Neptune Perkins as the GA version of Aquaman and wanted to show that influence. I did research and found out PAD had used him as a senator in his DC work and wanted to leave him vague if someone else ever wanted to pick up on this, but really don't have any plans beyond his connection to Krell. I think the last story is the strongest part of the three so please certainly check it out. ;D

the only thing I don't understand is that in the preview it was made to look like Krell who be a bad guy but it didn't seem that way. did I miss something?

I was hoping this would be the final part of the story but the pacing worked out that it needed another chapter. It's a matter of my still working out how long I need to tell the stories. The next issue is definately the final chapter and all will be revealed!

I love a cliffhanger that ends with the line "I am Pregnant!". Great stuff. Another issue (like Wonder Woman) that I thought was going to end this issue! AHHHHGGG! I like the way Aquaman is portrayed here. On the surface his seems a simple man of royalty and adventure. A true hero who isn't weighted down with the baggage he has in the DCU. I understand that writers keeping piling onto him this baggage to add to his character and make him interesting. But you go back to basics and show what a tremendous character he was and still can be! Will tune in next time to see whats in the box! What? Oh, wrong story! Will tune in next time to see who or what is locked behind the door!

Thanks for the kind words, John. Yeah, I wanted to try to bring all of the versions of Aquaman together but also present a new take on the classic version. Which means I had to start at the ground and work up instead of hitting the ground running, but the stories should get more ambitious as they progress and soon we'll be seeing a lot more of the supporting cast and Aquaman mythos taking shape here at DC2.
