"A Sci-Fi crazy world." Heh. I've been looking forward to the return of Aquaman for months, and with his appearances in Justice League, Wonder Woman and then Justice League Vs America... I thought it was well past due that he got his own book! And Masoud, what a way to make an impact! I loved everything about it, the dialogue was sharp (though clunky in one exchange. I think it was "You broke several of my teeth!". If I were your editor, I would have said, hey, who in fact speaks like that?) and the action was turned all the way up to eleven. You've established so many awesome subplots, and so many mysteries, that you make this reader excited as to what's coming in the future! And the mention of the blue-camouflage suit? You've got this reader wanting to see that on a cover illustrated by Ramon Five stars, my friend! Keep up the good work!

Oh, and a negative, to make sure your ego doesn't suffocate everyone else in the room:
I hate gimmicky polls. They really irritate me. Yeah, they were funny when... No wait. They were never funny.
Not going to deduct stars because of it (STARS, DAMMIT!), but just keep that in mind. It's getting boring and repetitive.

I won't lie, I'm both proud and worried about this issue. Proud because I finally get to kick this off, and worried because it's my first time writing a fan fic since the yet-to-be-debuted Faust and House of Mystery (all other plans have fallen before this).
This first issue is great to kick off the relaunch, even with its flaws, but it will get better, and the subplots will begin to weave together more. I guess my biggest issue was trying not to totally start anew because Brandon left with his own subplots hanging, and I tried my best to incorporate them into something fresh, and take the unexplained ones into new directions.
And while you may see some characters you know well and others that have been forgotten since the Golden Age, I am hoping to turn some of those forgotten Z-listers into either higher class villains or into nice vehicles to move along the plot.
(Because you're an early bird, you'll have to wait to see all of the Secret File stuff)

Charlie's got that right! I can't begin to say how much fun this issue was. You took the first 9 issue's and was able to blend in a brief history lesson with some tantalizing hints to the future. Of course I have to disagree that Jimmy Neutron is anything like Dexeters Labratory. The humor alone is worth arguing over. I also thought the fact that Arthur (or King Arthur, which made me chuckle out loud) has been seen working with regular land people, and not other meta humans. It's perfect and logical for him to do. It's exactly what he needs to do to rebuild the reputation that Starro gave him during the last Crisis. This was a top notch story from start to finish and 5 stars! Keep them coming, and I'll be happy to swim along side our King of Atlantis for a long time to come! Also have to say that the cover is awesome!

And so we begin.
I glanced through a "regular" Aquaman comic, once. Long ago. So far, you well exceed that, especailly your "villain plotting" scenes.
But what really worries me is the dream..."Fail"?!? Very bad mojo, indeed.
Looking forward to more...

Thanks Brian and Jay! Really, I'm glad to get the feedback!
I have to admit, when I began plotting all of this, I wanted to write for DC. Aquaman has a rich background of characters and plot, but never put together really well. I'm hoping to mesh it all out into something fun and readable. Hopefully connecting the end of Brandon's run into what I have stored for later will be great for all of us!
Thank you guys and see you in a month!

An interesting read so far. As an older, not quite, golden age fan I had at least heard of many of your villians and supporting characters. I remember Cal Durham fondly. Of course, there's no guarantee his fate will be the same as in the DC proper. But anyway, although he was never actually an Aquaman character I think Zeep, the Sponge would fit in with the direction this title seems to be heading.

Zeep the Sponge was a character who made several appearances in the original Challangers of the Unknown. While I don't have the specifics at my fingertips his origin went something along this line. He was the assistant and unwitting guineapig of a certain mad scientist. The Challengers were investigating certain anomalies in the ocean and discovered that the former guineapig had been turned into a human (and maybe literal) sponge. His new form gave him the power to absorb the powers of nearby creatures as well as energy. In fact, the more you tried to destroy him the stronger he would become. Use rayguns he would absorb and thrive on the rays and so on. He made at least one other appearance where the Sea Devils gueststarred with the Challangers. I'm not sure if the Sponge from Hero's Hotline is the same character or not.

I am plunging back into this title, and am very excited by this first issue. Very nice revival. Love the scene with Aquaman vs. King Shark! It seems to have nothing else to do with the plot, except to set the stage with Arthur as a badass. And, yes, I refuse to call Aquaman Orin, at least in a familiar context. He's always going to be Arthur Curry to me. I love what Peter David did to enrich his mythos, but Orin is as much his name as Benedict is Ratzinger's... Okay, maybe not the best comparison, but you get my drift . Anyway--- great debut! I love the building mystery, and the various plots intro'd! And the cover is fantastic! Nice to see Carlos' work at the DC2, even if it was just a one-and-done!
