An interesting view into the character of Black Manta-- someone with a shifting origin over in the DCUproper, and who never truly got the best deal in any continuity (barring maybe Justice? but even then...). And this world building you're doing Pat, is exquisite. Aquaman continues to impress as this run continues, and now King's Reign is heating up? The first issue is next week? Awesome. I can't wait. You know I'm a big Arthur fan, and I know you won't disappoint. Though, if you do... ... You're lucky to have two covers this month too, Gareth and Paul did some awesome stuff, and it's always cool to see a fresh take on the characters. The Mera-fixation really comes through, bravo.

Loved this issue. Manta is way cool in this and I love the roguish feel you've given him.
Tempest was at his best here as well. Aquaman himself is doing a bit of soul searching and that's great to see.
Sorry it's taken me so long, but I'm trying my best to catch up with everything. This series is one of my favorites though. Right up there with Flash and Nemesis in my top three.
Kudos to both writer and artist for a five star issue!

Thanks for reading, Charlie! I agree with just about everything you said about Black Manta in the DCU. I was really overjoyed to have two covers and both were done very well! And I also hope King's Reign doesn't dissapoint. Yeah I went back and reread Aquaman #4-5 where Black Manta debuted and what I loved about how Brandon wrote him back then was that he was very scary and cold but also rather humorous and sarcastic. Thought that would be a lot of fun which is one of the reasons I gave him the A plot in this issue. And it turned out to be as fun as I expected! He'll be a major part of King's Reign...well if Ocean Master pays him enough lol. Don't you mean Aqualad? I wanted his storyline in this issue to be quite opposite to the A plot and not be so action packed but rather more of a lesson he learns. Thanks for the flattering compliments, Brian! Means a lot that you rank the series so high. Hope you enjoy what's to come!
