Crikey! This is more like it. A lot of balls are in the air, you're juggling a brilliant amount of plot threads, but you never lose sight of any, and the fact of the matter is, I think this arc might be one of the best on the site this year, up there with Don's final-- and incomplete (COME ON, DON!)-- Justice League adventure, Susan's Seven Soldiers of Victory mini, and Kevin's Legacy of Lightning. You're doing great stuff with Orin, and this cemented that fact for me right here.
The stakes are high! Aquaman has been defeated?! That final sequence... the darkness claiming him... wow. Really effective, astonishingly well done. Thanatos is developing quite the personality, but that was to be expected... if I were a betting man, I might expect this magical little Orin clone to become the new Aquaman, but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon, but the simple fact that you're developing him so well makes me think that wouldn't be awful. Well, it would be for Kevin and my Justice League run (/shameless plug), but still. He seems real. A character we can root for. And I love that.
Orm seems almost... pathetic in his role as victor, not overtly, but there's this subtle hint of him being complete undeserving of the throne, and him knowing it, but wanting it all the more none the less. Maybe I'm reading into it too much.
ANYWAY! A great issue to a great continuing story arc, and I'll be back, once again, in a months time.

Haven't been able to afford comics for years now, but last I looked, Garth, once he'd gone mage, went by the moniker of Tempest. Mera, if she's back again, is the one with the solid-water powers, and also a warrior in her own right. Orin has pretty much every fish in the ocean to call upon, never mind the cetaceans, so where's the school of barracudas and maybe a handful of young male orcas when it comes to the numbers-and-size games?
And a bit of physics here: light, even lased light, is all but useless as a weapon underwater. Sound, if you can keep it focused enough to not blow up your own people, is the real killer. If I were in charge of a technologically advanced city a mile down, I'd have a battery of sonic cannons ringing the perimeter.
I also find it difficult to believe that anyone could sneak up on a water breather. Underwater, even on dive gear, you feel motions around you, not to mention hearing them.
Yes, I know it's comics, and the bad guys have to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, but the FEEL of the setting is important, and a bunch of dead bodies drifting around doesn't convey the FEEL of a battlefield. (That's what "Saving Private Ryan" did so stunningly -- in an otherwise mediocre-garbage movie, it brought the FEEL of the real thing slamming home.)
True that Orin is no armchair-general, but I'd still expect him to be more of a command-post than in front of the charge. Unless he wanted a shot at Orm personally. Couldn't blame him there.

Very cool to see a new poster on the site! You make some very valid points, and, to me, they're very thought provoking, which is always fun. Maybe a silly question, but are you an Aquaman fan? At the DC2, we're not beholden to established DCU continuity, so that's why there might be some discrepancies between the two continuities, but we pride ourselves on always being accessible to the new reader... somehow. Anyways, I look forward to seeing you post in other places on site! Like I said, it's always very cool to see a new poster on the site!
Peace,
Charlie.

Charlie pretty much said what I was gonna say. What you said here though, is very important and you will be seeing a pay off on this.

You're doing great stuff with Orin, and this cemented that fact for me right here. Wow thanks. That's very flattering to hear because I ABSOLUTELY LOVED LEGACY OF THE LIGHTNING. That whole scene at the end was complete symbolism with literally having Orm rise up the steps while Orin fell into the darkness of his own defeat. Glad I could make him likeable because the character he is the DC2 version of was farrrrr from liked by the majority of people. Thanatos will have some great stuff ahead so keep reading. Nope, you're not reading into it too much. Orm knows he doesn't really deserve the throne but he just has this jealousy that's built up after having dreamed of being king since...well forever and then to have that taken away in an instant, could really mess with someone's head. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment, Charlie and looking forward to your feedback on next issue.

If there are a whole people underwater living in a city with transparent domes and holographic images to communicate, I don't see the problem with lasers. This a super advanced society. And anyway, the weapons of Poseidonis were established before my tenure.
Sound weapons are a cool idea though. ;D
Orin was a bit distracted by a person he somewhat considers to be son being attacked.
Saving Private Ryan's a great movie ;D Sorry if you were disappointed with the feel of the battlefield. I've never been in the middle of a war so it's difficult to imagine what that feels like exactly.
He'd put his own safety before his people so he'd definitely launch himself into the front line to try to take out as many enemies as possible so his people would not be under as much of a threat. And yeah, he definitely wanted some of Orm too. That played a factor.
Thanks for reading!

Really intense! I know this book has had a few changes along the way, in the last 4 years, but it's also been the most consistent in story, whithout missing a beat.
That's a true testemant to it's writer! Great job, and a story that I've never even imagined before, which makes it even more thirlling to me.
The cover was dynamic to say the least. Keep up the great work, guys!

What made me really interested in writing Aquaman was Brandon's run on it so I definitely wanted to expand on things he had started. Thanks for reading and leaving feedback, Brian. Hope you enjoy what's coming up.

Best issue of the run so far!
I have just finished catching up on this title and am more and more entertained with the overall story developing here in "King's Reign" (and its lead-ups). The villains from Ocean Master to the Shark and Black Manta have had some nice characterization--- better, I'd say, than the heroes! Aquaman is still a little off to me (but I think we can attribute that to my own perception of him, rather than any failing on the part of the writer), and Garth is something of a cypher. Mera is all-but a non-entity!
But the story is the real treat here! The Oceanic War is heating up, and it looks like Atlantis is in big trouble. Looking forward to seeing how the Sea King comes back from this!
I miss Joey Jarin on covers but the beautiful work of new cover artist Paul Johnson eases the pain. In fact, Paul's style seems very appropriate for this title, and I hope he sticks around for a long time!
Four stars, fellas!

Best issue of the run so far! Huzzah! ;D Thanks. I hope it will continue to be as entertaining as this arc progresses. Yeah, I really enjoy writing his villains. Ocean Master is just about the very definition of sibling rivalry and jealousy while The Shark is pure terror and hunger. Very fun to write him . Black Manta's also very fun. I loved what Brandon had done with him earlier in the series where he was more of like this undersea pirate guy who was sinister but also had this really witty attitude. Yeah, it's you ;D I kid, Dave, I kid. Wait till you see the next few issues and then say that Like Garth, that will soon change. Thanks again for reading and leaving some feedback, Dave!
