Please let us know what you think!
Also, this month we have a note from the writer to brighten things up (now all we need are lots of cool comments from you readers, and maybe a funky letters column title like "Keep Jawin' With Orin").
Writer's Note
It's hard to believe that it's been just a hair over a year since my first issue of 'Aquaman' was released here.
It's hard to believe that I only just discovered this jaw-dropping world you've all created only about eight or so months before that.
But in all honesty, it's not hard to believe that I've come to call the DC2 my online home.
Even before that first issue was released, you all welcomed me and accepted me into your family with open arms. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for that.
The great collaboration that goes on here between such amazing talent in both the writing and art departments is simply astonishing and I'm proud to say I've worked beside many of you and hope to work beside those I haven't eventually.
What I've seen in my time here is one thing I feel the DCU has lost a sense of. A sense of unity. A sense that everyone involved with this site is important, no one and no story being more important than any other.
We may not always see eye to eye on a story or piece of art, and we may not always get along about decisions made but in the end, that's family for you.
So...
I just wanted to say a great big thank you to you all. For really giving me a home where I can stretch my imagination out to its limits and really be involved with what I have a passion for.
Thank you.
Here's to exploring the far reaches of this marvelous universe together!

Now this is what I call an anniversary event. Pat, you've out done yourself with tight plotting, shining moments of character development, and a story that has held those who read it enthralled from one month to the next. The pieces of art that Paul Johnson did enhanced an already expert prose package (so that's why Paul hasn't done any other covers recently ) in such a way that this read-- even though it was "double sized" (how many words did this clock in at, by-the-by?) it read smooth and silky, perfect to start the day. I was happy to see the conclusion of the Orm/Orin fight (though that was the only section that I found hard to understand, moments seemed a bit unclear due to the ambiguous nature of the writing), as I'm always chuffed to see villainous redemption (that's how I saw it, but like I said, the writing was unclear in that section) and I'm always impressed when a thread from a previous issue in a run is returned to! Black Manta establishes himself as a true threat against Aquaman here, and it was fantastic. Thanatos and Garth both had their moments to shine, and they revealed themselves to be true heroes to the people of Atlantis. Nice to see that you find the time to continue to move characters and plots forward, even in the midst of an epic arc like this. The sharks were brilliant, and that image by Paul punctuated that moment fantastically. So visceral, but so right. Fantastic. And that ending... came from nowhere. Don't know what to think of it. Fitting, in a way, open ended, but still with a sense of finality. The line has been drawn between this era of Aquaman and the next-- and I'll be here next month to see where you go with it. Five stars! Hoo-rah!

Yeah, Paul's interiors were a great addition to the book! Was it the scene where there are memories of past quotes interlaced between the strikes of their weapons? It was just important developments in their relationship from the past. Redemption...maybe. It was more of Aquaman seeing a glimpse of his brother and decided not to kill him. Yep. Black Manta was the wild card thorughout this whole arc. The one who you couldn't really fully trust because he had no true allegiance. And I set up the whole bombs within the city's substructure back in #20 so I was waiting for the right moment to use it. Like you said, Manta has defnitely gone up a few notches in the danger list. He trashed all of Poseidonis! Thanks. They've gotten a lot of focus these last couple of issues. More than I had originally planned for them but the story just kind of morphed into where I needed them to play a bigger role. This whole arc was huge for both of them with Thanatos' picking a side and Garth finally coming into his own and seeing how far his magic could go(which proved to be not quite enough...yet.) I love writing the shark-men. I really got to explore them back in "Crimson Tides" and I just grew to love them. The Shark for his animalistic hostility, King Shark for being kind of in between but as you saw, still very vicious, and Rhin for being the tough but somewhat gentle one. Yeah, when I was writing that scene, I knew I definitely wanted that to be one of the interiors and Paul hit that one out of the park. Gory and awesome. I wanted it to be from out of left field but still had moments that were building up to it without it being too obvious that it was going to happen. I kept making mention that the entire oceans were tearing apart because of this war and I wanted the place where Aquaman felt safest and where he held order, to go up in flames, leaving the Atlanteans to be without a home in the vast, dangerous waters. Hope you enjoy what's coming up. Big plans are afoot! Hoo-rah!

This must go down in the history of DC2 as one of the tightest, most action packed, and "page turning" stories that we have. After reading the last two parts back to back I have to say that I hope I get to meet you in person this October Pat so that I can give you a standing ovation.
I'm REALLY sorry it's taken me so long to finish reading this. It was just so damn good!!! You make Orin the King he should always be, the hero that many forget that he is, and the husband that so many women (and a few men) would give their life for.
I kept wanting to tell you which moment was my favorite, but I've got to be honest here, it was so close to picture perfect that I can't single one moment out. However, I will say that the lost few lines was a hauntingly beautiful way to end the story. I can't wait to see what happens next.

What's happening this October? Thank you! I love Aquaman and have always hated that he gets such a bad rep in most media. But he seems to get a lot of love here and I'm happy to be part of it. I wanted to make the ending both an ending but also not an ending ya know? I wanted this part of the story to be over and a new part to begin. And The Shark's prophecy of Orin's worst fear being a king without a kingdom really came true in the end. And who's this mysterious group that picked up Mortimer...hmmm...I get the itching feeling they'll be huge! [shadow=red,left,300] BRILLIANT!!!!!!! [/shadow][/quote] Thanks for reading Brian and I'm so happy you enjoyed it!
