From the get-go I wondered how Batman (an urban knight) would handle being involved in such an earth shattering crisis. I now realize he would do what he does best, He would be Batman!
I loved everything about part 3 of Crisis. My favorite part was Batman staying in control while chaos erupted all around him. The scenes with Scot, Alfred, and Batman in the cave were priceless!
I was caught off guard by Batman's speech to the world. But it only added to this already phenomenal story that is unfolding across the DC2.
Ramon delivered his best cover to date and Charlie once again hit it out of the park. Everyone involved deserves a standing ovation for Crisis week 1!
David, our esteemed EIC is the true mastermind behind all of this (hope I didn't spoil the story) and deserves all of the praise that will soon be pouring in. Not only is the guy a class act but the guy is a creative genius for pulling this off. Dan Dido would be looking over his shoulder right now and pissing himself if he only knew what was going on here! ;D

I only wish Batman was written like this in the comics! Here he has humor & hope! The speech gave me goose bumps!
Next week can't come quick enough!
BEST ISSUE OF THE WEEK!!!

This week was definately a tour de force by Our Kid from across the pond!
Another one hit out of the ballpark, Charlie! Very well done, indeed! This issue is a great example of why Batman can be dark and gritty and still fun. Nice background on Scott Free and Apokolips, and the whole issue was a fitting end to our first week of Crisis issues!
Favorite scene: when Batman brought those two buildings down on the heads of the parademons! Tight, indeed!
And Ramon really did deliver a freakin' awesome cover. There are times when you see a piece of work, and it comes complete with sound effects somehow--- this was one of those times! I could hear in my head the triumphant chittering of the parademons and the ominous background music as they wave Batman's empty cape and cowl...! Like something out of Planet of the Apes!

But I have to give the credit to the best, most committed group of fan ficcers and artists on the net--- I (and this site) live and die by their prodigious talent. But I will be taking a very long nap in September...!

Another WOW! Dark, humor, and hope tied up in one great package! I couldn't help but hear a bit of the song, "Do you hear the people sing..." from "Les Mis" during that final speech. This really was the perfect way to end the first week of the crisis. Great job Charlie!. Excellent cover Ramon!

thanks to all those who gave praise to my cover.
great job charles. really nice showing for all the reasons stated above, I think I really like you older batman as opposed to the young one you were writing awhile back, and I LOVED how he was taking on loads of parademons in the air no less. good job, can't wait for next week.

I don't know how you do it Charlie, your mind must be constantly filled with these stories! Great cover Ramon! I know exactly the sound David is hearing! I hear it too! Oh no wait, that's the other voice. Batman's airial (sp?) fight with the parademons was awesome! When is the trade paperback coming out?

Whoa Charlies flying now? This was awesomeness at its most ah awesome levels. I too got goosebumps from that speech. Batman's face being broadcast to the entire world was a very dramatic scene. You could feel the hoe spread just from him declaring "Yes I exsist and I am as bad ass as you think I am." Atleast thats the jist of it.

Notice how every crisis issue's gotten best of the week?
This one brought us the backstory of Apokolips/New Genesis and even the origin of Darkseid himself. There was a TON of information being passed, but it was clear and easy to follow.
Batman taking on multitudes of parademons on paper sounds ludicrous but it pulled off believably and in an exciting manner. There were also built in clues as to where things may go post-crisis (that is, if anyone survives).
The return of Nightwing and Batman's show of respect seems like the start of some healing between the two. Or maybe it was a heat of the moment blurb, I dunno. Anyway, it's good to see Dick in a Batman title.
And the speech was a very poignant moment. You would expect that from someone like Superman, but with it coming from Batman, a non-metahuman and not the most social guy, it carries more weight to rally the entire planet against this terible threat. If this guy isn't giving up I won't either.
Congrats to a spectacular first week of crisis stories.

Geez, how can you guys keep this up?!? You took what could have been a hokey speech (reminded me a bit of "Independence Day", but in a good way) and sold it perfectly -- I could see Bruce in my head, bloodied and bruised, speaking into a minicam with such conviction and force that flecks of spittle were coming off his lips. YOU DO NOT SCREW WITH HIS CITY, DAMMIT! And yes, Didio should be afraid of us and what we're accomplishing around here, and not just during IXE, but all the time -- I propose that, when we reach our 5th year, all of us storm the DC offices and stage a coup. ;D

I can't believe this!
Two people rated this issue 'Stinker of the week' and didn't have the courage to come into the forum & explain why! Not only was this issue great, it was also inspiring.
Cowards!

Thanks Scott... Your finale was fantastic! Awe inspring even, and a hell of a way to cap off an amazing ten issue series before it swaps places with The Question and goes Quarterly !

When you give people a chance to express their opinions on the internet, you leave yourself open to things like this. The hope would be that if someone truly hated something (or loved it) they would take the time to say why. Unfortunately no one is obligated to make comments one way or the other.

A bit of a mixed bag.
Personally, I wasn't impressed at all by the start of the story (I thought Mister Miracle, as in the previous issue, was fairly ineffectual, being forced to churn out exposition that, in the case of the New Gods family tree, was way too much compacted information for my liking. I was also lost for words at the "mushy bottom" line).
Fortunately, while some of this issue was the worst of the week for me, the ending was the best I've read this week and totally saved the story.

To keep the original vision of the character for the flashbacks, I was using Jack Kirby's own dialogue for that sequence, so... MARK HATES JACK KIRBY! Jeez...
