Well this was certainly an intense Christmas story. So his name was finally mentioned. They have finally arrived. There's a lot of gret stuff in this issue, and you definatley didn't go for the sentimental holiday stuff... three cheers for that. ***SPOILERS MILD*** I was almost hoping that Alfred was going to take on his intruders by himself. It would have been so cool, but it is the holidays and it was a logical choice that the whole family were to be there. I very much enjoyed this issue. You've brought out what I'd been waiting for, and you did it excellently. This was a real five star issue! However, I think it's time you might want to consider a little therapy, my friend. You're obsession with a certain character who's name was dropped (again) is becoming a little frightening. ;D All in all, though, It was fantastic!

I think the idea of a coherent continuity, which we're going for, is really sustained by referencing the past which we've established, so yeah, I will mention IXE, Vic, 1952 (?) etc, all for a bit of fun... And yes. If he were still alive, HE would be coming. But he's not. Look out for a special something something in the new year to show WHY that's so.

Wonderful Christmas story! I think I'm going to read it to my kids on Christmas Eve instead of " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas".
Or maybe not.
This actually was a fun tale, and especially considering how serious the villains are putting them in Santa outfits is hilarious. I always appreciate the little bits of humor you throw in your stories. Love the Nightwing cameo and Alfred is a badass.
We're seeing some great Batman villains lately but must HE really be dead? Really?

Yes. Stabbed through the heart by--
Wait...
Could Bruce be lying about how HE died?

Cool Cool Cool Cool. First off. MOST EXCELLENT COVER! I started reading and was totally engrossed expecting a light hearted Christmas tale but instead got suspense and assasination....which is why toward the end as it became lighter and lighter in tone. I laughed out loud! Another great story. I really like all the characters. Some stories when you read them you find yourself rushing by bits that aren't about the main character. Not here. I'm interested in what each and every character is doing. Kudos!

This was one of your easiest-to-read issues, Charlie, filled with some striking imagery (Ninja Santas, Alfred defending the Batcave) and some nice story-building (the mystey of "Ms. Head" continues).
But why were the assassins dressed as Santa?
And you pulled off a coup in this issue: putting the Question in it, without actually having him appear!
The scene with Bruce, Vicki and Dick was real awkward....! This subplot really needs to be developed, because it is getting weird!

A special mention has to go to Adam for a truly classic Batman cover.
Man! The Art Department ups the ante not just every week, but with every cover! I am so impressed and humbled by the talent we've assembled here.

So the Mistress is Ms Head, eh? I wonder what the heck her deal is....but I know we will eventually find out.
I agree about the lightening tone. It went from pyschos who were a threat to Batman to DIEEEEE! With Dick going "Whatever" and putting their lights out. I will say the false bat signal trap was clever.
A good story!

First off I have to jump on the bandwagon and say this is the coolest holiday cover ever! Way to go Adam!
Interesting of idea way to spread the holiday cheer there Charlie. It was dark and lighthearted at the same time. And now that certain characters are out from behind the shadows, it should be very interesting to see where this goes next...

A great story, wonderful twists...then it kind of pratfalls at the end. "DIIIIIEEEE!!!!" indeed. Kind of ruined it.
So...how long until we get the full story about Bruce and the League of Assassins? ;D

I forgot to mention the Dick line about "No how are yous" reminds me very much of Dick saying almost exactly the same thing to Bruce in the regular DCU in Tim Drake's origin story, so long ago. I feel old.

Whoa, thanks for the kind words you beauties! To get through the feedback faster...
Dave: Bruce and Vicki's relationship is coming to the front of the stage in TWO books in the new year, so you'll enjoy that, and it's not being put off, it's not being awkward, I LIKED WRITING THEIR SCENES. Awesome feeling that, awesome indeed. And that whole Santa Claus thing? It was so they blended in... I had a scene written but forgot to add it in to the story that made it all make sense in a cool and flamboyant way.
Arcalian: Yeah, sorry about that. Thing about this issue was that it was written on such short notice, that the reason it had a lightning fast tone wasbecause it was written lightning fast! And I'm really pleased that you all liked it, because personally I don't! Heh. And I enjoy writing dialogue, I love playing with words in people's mouths, and that's damn hard to do in a Batman story, especially with characters like Batman!
John: Batman can't be happy, not in any real incarnation, I love him to be the witty one liner kind of guy, the dark avenger who swoops in and out and is the hero you all love, but Christmas cheer isn't exactly his domain? So a little one shot story (FWHA!) with Christmas in was a hard baby to plot, but to excecute? Well... You've all read it!
Susan: I smell annual!

The thing about the "How are yous" quote wasn't a bad thing, my man. It took me back to the time when I actually enjoyed the regular DCU.
