That opening Gordon bit was stunning, but something bugged me... The spelling of Merkel... I think it's established in the DC2 his name is spelt... "El" and not "Le", though I concede I could be wrong! Anyway, Firefly wooo! An awesome debut on this book Grant! Can't wait to catch the second part and... Omigod, final moments

"you got some guts.... after what you pulled"
Lando!
"Hey Chewbacca, you still hanging around with this loser?"

What a great read! The pages just flew by. If I could draw 5 pages of comic a day I'd turn this into a comic instantly. I like the introduction of Tommy and the scene between Nightwing and Gordon was really entertaining - looking forward to where this is leading to.

Wow, that was intense. A great opening act. Poor Nightwing, that guy has got to have a lot of frequent flyer miles going on. LOL!
I'm a huge fan of the mini serious and I'm glad that your following up the story. Great, great, stuff!

Was it just me, or did Johnathon Lyons remind anybody else of that old Tick enemy "The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs At Midnight"? YEAH, BABY, YEAH! ;D
Having read "City of Crime" (if you didn't already, go do it NOW!), I knew this was going to be good, but man, this is even better than I thought! This arc is gonna be KILLER, pun definitely intended!

I was waiting to see if anyone picked on that. Yes indeed, the late Firefly 2 was an homage to the EMBWBM. He's my all time fav. Tick villain because he is so completely insane. BOOM BABY BOOM! Thanks Susan! I also wanted to take the opportunity to thank John for editing another one of my stories and shout out for our badass cover artist.

As I have stated frequently elsewhere, I'm not a big Batman fan, but having read the excellent City of Crime mini, there was no way I was going to pass this up.
Nor was I disappointed. This arc is written in the same punchy, no-nonsense hard-boiled style, complete with superb characterization (all due respect to former writers, I think this is the first time Vicki's and Bruce's interactions as a couple didn't make me cringe), good action, and a sense of impending doom and danger!
The Wrath is back! The secret od Redwing is coming out! Tommy Elliot is on the scene!
I will be back next month--- and hanging on the edge of my seat until then!
Also, awesome cover Syl! Reminds me of that famous photo of Sir Laurence Olivier contemplating Yorick's skull... Apropos for a story that will no doubt explore death and lost friends...

I was really loving this read, the language was like a classic pulp in many places, and the flow of the scenes and characters was good, and I enjoyed the way Gordon reacted to the initial crime scene, very descriptive, very nice. I was assuming the sleazy reporter didn't see the crime scene, otherwise I'd have been bothered that the cop was puking and the reporter wasn't, so once I sorted that bit out, I was still going strong. The party was okay, the Nightwing scene with Gordon was okay...the closed-mouth behavior to Dick was a bit of a problem, but I got over it with the idea that it was a promise. Okay...fine I can see that, and the characterization is very good. Always love to see the minor league villains and Firefly looked good, and then we had the modern-day comics paradigm of "trot out the obscure guy so we can whack him to show how vicious the bad guy is or how serious the Crisis du Jour is". Well, that was disappointing...but the story was solid, so I got over that quickly.
Then the last scene left me unhappy. I'm kind of tired of this sort of Dick and Bruce relationship. It really knocked the pins out from under me for enjoying the story. But we'll see how it plays out over the story arc, and otherwise, you've a very nice build-up going. Good tension and mystery.
I'm liking so far. Will be interested in part two (which I head off to read now), but I'm also worried as to the course of the story. But for now, I'm liking, and good work on what you've done.
Take care Don

I loved this, what looks to be the start of an awe-inspiring mini-series! Nothing much wrong to say about it - onwards and upwards!
