Whoa. A satisfying and creepy finale to this amazing miniseries. I thought you didn't use "Redwing" as well as you could have, but I personally don't think I could have done better with this story. It was... It was just simply astonishing.
Thanks Grant, and thanks John for editing the badboy!

Hm, I wasn't expecting Red Wing to be who he was, very nice twist.
I really liked what you did with The Penguin. I actually felt bad for the guy in the end.

Really enjoyed the story and, possibly even more so, the storytelling. Excellent mini-series.

This has been a terrific story, from beginning to end. And what an ending! Of course (and I'll be the first to mention this), *SPOILERS* So Dick wasn't the first! Very nice twist there! Very nice! Great job!

No surprise about who Redwing was here (having been reading the Bat editorial boards at the time it was set up) but I was mildly surprised he made it out of the story relatively okay....which begs the question of when, exactly, something happened to him.
Every character felt right here, but special marks go to Vickie and Redwing.
Can Wrath not speak, except through typing emails?

I like the characterisation of the Wrath. Silent and deadly, just as Bruce would have been if he hadn't become a force for good, and I think that's what Grant was going for. Greatness.

Hey guys! Thanks very much!
Thanks to Brian, Charlie, MarkyMark the fearless leader for their input..particular about how to handle Redwing, AKA Jason Todd. Also a big thanks to John for editing this monster!
Well there you have it: Jason Todd is now officially in the DC2! Why Jason isn't around in current continuity, why no one ever mentions him, and what has become of him since the events of City of Crime will be told over in Batman and Tec' in the coming months.
The Wrath - Charilie is right. He is supposed to be a really evil take on Batman. The original Wrath in the comics always sucked I thought. DC has a long obession with making villians who are just bad copies of the hero, and the Wrath was no different. So I decided to make him just ad dedicated, as obsessed and as powerful as Bruce Wayne, but sharing none of Bruce's history, little of his methods, and certainly not the costume. I will tell you this much, the Wrath only appears for one reason - to murder somebody. So you know when he appears in a story, not everyone in that story is going to come out alive! Where Batman wants to save lives, the Wrath wants to end them. But unlike the Joker, The Wrath has a plan - the start of which we have just seen.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for reading my first story at DC2....now I gotta get back to editing the next issue of Tec.

I took the last three installments of this mini on vacation with me a couple weeks ago, and I have to say I was simply blown away.
Usually I have a big problem with fan fiction that approaches the object of it's fandom (in this case Batman) only sideways, or around the edges, but this writer has made that approach a strength of this story! Batman's presence is felt on every page, in this dark, Boschian Gotham, even in his antithesis.
And, of course, we are given a thoroughly interesting and sympathetic character in Mickey Finn to follow around, anyway. I would love to catch up with Finn in the present day--- and see what he thinks about Vicki's relationship with a certain Turkey-loving billionaire playboy. And I'm sure we haven't heard the last of the Wrath. Beautifully executed characterization there. I was genuinely creeped out by that guy, and reminded of why Dan Simmons' Song of Kali freaked me out so much....!
And with everything else, we glimpse the beginning of the Jason Todd saga! I look forward with bated breath to Grant's follow-up in his upcoming run in Batman, post-IXXE. What happened to Jason that he's no longer around in the present day? I wait impatiently for Grant to pull back the curtain!
This was a smart, stylishly-told story, and a vitally important addition to the DC2 Bat-Mythos. Skip this mini at your peril!
From the moodily evocative covers to the expert pulp-era writing, this was a 5-star effort at the very least!

Aw dang! I should've figured it was Jason when you kept calling him "Redwing", but I was too dense. Good stuff (although I took my good sweet time getting around to reading it...sorry! ). I look forward to finding out just what happened to Jason back in the day.

This was a great read. I'm a big Bat-fan, and I loved seeing him from the perspective of someone who's not a cape. Gives a great sense of how other-worldly he can seem.
Also intrigued by Jason Todd as Redwing and the Wrath character. Picked up where this story left off in the Batman issues, and can't wait to see what will come up next.
