History: Michael Hughes was a successful computer software designer, who worked closely with another man, Arthur Brown. These two created a fortune for Minotaur software, and they were given a healthy sum for their part in it, split fifty/fifty because of the nature of their partnership. When Hughes was killed in a car accident, Brown received the full one hundred, and quite a pretty sum it was! But what Brown did not know was that Hughes survived the car accident, and realised that if he returned to his former life, he would be taken out of the picture by his ex-partner, so he did what any man in his position would do… He became a new man.
Hughes changed his identity into something more fitting, and developed new software, selling contracts to the military, and when he created a power base to rival Wayne Enterprises or Lexcorp, he staged his master plan. He secretly swindled Arthur Brown out of his fortune, forcing him to accept a special kind of contract from his new company, all this without Brown realising he was being manipulated by the man he thought dead. Brown was hired to attack new members of the Enigma Technology and inject them with a compound that would react with their brain chemistry from a certain trigger, and cause them to become susceptible to hypnotic suggestion, and then Nigma gave Brown the identity of THE RIDDLER for the grand finale. Batman and Harvey Bullock stopped the now insane Brown from murdering the kidnapped employees, and Brown was sent to Arkham Asylum, where he has stayed in a catatonic state.
Edward Nigma was a member of a select group of secret men and women with a grand agenda, and he had links to The League of Assassins and Kobra, so how did a man with so much power end up as a costumed criminal in Gotham City? How did he lose his fortune and his company? All will be revealed.
