History:

Time was, Marvin Fynn was a wonder kid. An up-and-comer. The kind of kid people stopped and said "Now that boy is going to be someone."

Fynn graduated from journalism with Clark Kent and had a promising career ahead of him. He quickly established a reputation as a keen investigative reporter who could get inside the greasy underbelly of Gotham City.

But that came with the price. Fynn got too close to the world he was covering, and in time lost a piece of himself to it. After 10 years in Gotham, Fynn had enough. He started to drink, brawl, and his career flamed out.

It seemed it was only a matter of time before Fynn crawled into a bottle of booze and drowned. But fate had other plans.

Pulled from an alcoholic haze by news of the murder of a friend, Fynn through himself into investigating the arrival of a strange serial killer called The Wrath.

Teaming up with fellow journalist Vicki Vale and Batman's partner Redwing, Fynn was able to save the life of one of the Wrath's intended victims.

Since then, his career has been on the upswing. Although referring to himself as a "recovering alcoholic", it is not uncommon to find him with a glass in his hand.

"Well I said RECOVERING," is Fynn's usual reply.
