Guess I'll be the first then! This issue was action-packed, full of intrigue, and it's great to see the "origins" of the organisdation that have been part of the DC2 since the end of the JLvsA affair. To finally get some "closure" of sorts on the hows and the whys. The threads spinning out of here, involving I assume Suicide Squad, but for definitely the Global Guardians title, were brilliant, and you can tell that the two titles are going to compliment each other very well. I'm enjoying the cast of characters you've assembled so far, Steve Trevor is always a delight to see-- even if I don't think he's the right character for the role of White King. I don't approve of that one bit, and would rather see him be a regular character in Wonder Woman, but as that title is now on hiatus, not a major problem... but when we were waiting for Checkmate to materialise, and I was writing WW, I did find myself a bit irked about not being able to use Trevor!
I enjoyed the story, but I had some major problems with the editing. I know I'm not one to talk, but I noticed that there were five, maybe six instances of "your" when it should have been "you're". Batman's speech "untied the entire world", which is perfect Batman, but not the sentiment you were going for, I assume. Someone was told to "just stale him", "tigers down"... little bits that took me out of it-- don't get me wrong, the fact that I noticed all this just goes to show how much into it I was, but it did take away from my enjoyment (not that your going to lose a star for it!). On a personal editorial note, the lack of punctuation made the sentences run on a bit. Commas weren't utilised effectively, but me being king of the overuse of commas, that was merely a personal opinion.
Sorry if I come off negative, John, but I would rather tell you where there were mistakes than let them continue. Don't get me wrong, I really did enjoy the issue, and it was a very effective [re]debut for the team; I remember when the series originally launched, and I enjoyed the "remastering" very much-- Five Stars!

I liked the issue. I agree with Charlie, that the editing could have been a little better, but it didn't distract me as much as it did him. I remembered some of the scenes from the first version back then, but all in all it was a great read and I'll be back for the future issues. Great to have you back, John.

I've done a edit pass on it. It should be cleaner now.

First of all, welcome back John! To that same old place that you laughed about. Where your dreams have all changed... well you get the idea.
Great five star fist issue. As Dave seems destined to steer our Golden Age characters, the captain's chair for Checkmate has always stood strong with you at the helm.
Excellent way of reintroducing this series. Personally I really love the idea of Steve Trevor in the lead role of this book. Of course when I think of Steve Trevor I'm probably the only one who still visualizes Lyle Wagner.
I can't wait to see what happens next here.
