This is something that will maybe expand monthly, as the story unfolds. Not all of these are necessary reads, but they will broaden the sense of the story, whilst some, like Wonder Woman #25, play a major part in the evolution of the DC2 Nemesis storyline. All covers will take you to the issues themselves, and the blurbs seek to fill you in on the events inside the issues! I hope you enjoy this low down, and tomorrow a "DC2 Nemesis Future Checklist" will be going up, filling you in on the books that will be coming soon!
Wonder Woman #25: This issue was both the end of a storyline and the beginning of the build up to DC2 Nemesis #1, released way back in June 2008. With this future shock tale, we revealed what would happen if the Black Sun rose up on Earth. We didn’t find out what happened to summon the Black Sun here, or what was inside the malignant star, but the threat was revealed to be very real as the months went on…
Wonder Woman #27: This issue launched headfirst into the mystery of the “great darkness”, and set up Zauriel, one of the major characters in the tale, as a player in the proceedings, and also revealed that whatever was coming is bigger than just the Justice League, involving the Presence and the Pax Dei as well…
New Gods #4: Tying into Wonder Woman #25, a brief scene saw Lightray return to Earth and inform the Justice League of the threat of the villainous dark New Gods. Later on, Wonder Woman took this opportunity to ask Lightray to help her restore a damaged Mother Box that a traveller from the future time-line had handed her before disappearing into the ether. This plays straight into DC2 Nemesis #1![/i]
Wonder Woman #28: concluding the arc started in Wonder Woman #27, an angel exposed to the immensity of the Black Sun is rescued, spouting mad prophecies involving the denzeins of the DC2niverse: "I saw it all, scarred across His creation, I saw the secret history, the story not yet told... as I fell from my post, I saw it all. And I know. I know that he will come, the freed Lord of the Apocalypse, god not of life nor death, but of that which is far, far worse... lightning masses in the one who races against the edge of time! Legion and onslaught and the inevitable race from the end... …they rise again, the scourge of the world, the generations weep... the lady of thunder, blessed, defeating he-who-rages… an old foe with a new angle and a new foe hidden in-between nowhere comes... and the dream, the dream that shouldn't be so, they want it so much, the seven of them, lusting for it...", and finally: “The darkness comes, will strike down the Sun God, scour the Earth of life, and he will come, the great one, the Void King, he will emerge…” these prophecies would not only play into DC2 Nemesis, but the entirety of the DC2 line, and Zauriel, in the final moments, ascended to Heaven, and would arrive at the gates in DC2 Nemesis #1. Wonder Woman was left, as the issue closed, with a simple statement gifted by the guardian angel: “It is coming.”[/i]
Wonder Woman #29: September experienced double Wonder Woman releases, and in this issue the ball really started to roll with the Black Sun storyline. Gaia was entombed within human flesh by the mysterious group known as The Circle, and then sacrificed to hollow out the Earth, ready for the Black Sun to feed. With the sacrifice of Gaia made, the Black Sun would now start to rise, and the effects of the Spirit of the Earth’s demise would echo out across the DC2niverse…
Shazam! #14: The Evil Within storyline concluded here, and Isis felt the effects of Gaia’s death from Wonder Woman #29, and is rendered powerless before the threat of the villainously transformed Freddy Freeman! That was not the end of their story…
Teen Titans #37: Isis wasn’t the only one to be touched by the death of Gaia, as Terra too has problems with her powers after the Spirit of the Earth passes on. Beast Boy resolves to get her the best help he can, and that means a visit to his old friends in the Doom Patrol, and their leader, The Chief!

New Outsiders #37: Zatanna too notices the echo of Gaia’s death as the New Outsiders continue their adventures in Las Vegas, and the way that all magic is behaving very strangely now that there is no Spirit of the Earth inside the world.
