Since there didn't seem to be any particular place for feedback for the Arkham Christmas special, I thought I would say here that I especially appreciated the Wayne/Pennyworth stuff, and the Neron and Jack Napier references. And the tone was just right for the era too, I felt.

I've been living with this particular story since late September, having originally envisioned it as a Halloween special--- but it just works better as a Christmas story (I like to think of Ned Wayne as the Scrooge-type character, and maybe the Spectre as a Grinch...). I took pains to make this piece as Golden Age authentic as possible (I'm a big fan of the era). No name, and no character was arbitrarily chosen. Not an OC in the bunch!

I loved it. All of it. Perfection Dave, the tone was amazing... And Ned Wayne to the rescue! That had to be my favourite line of the story... I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff. Well. Next year... Can we have another?

"Captain of the fencing team 1932 and 1933!"
Great stuff Dave. Lately I've been feeling drawn to the Golden Age characters and this was refreshing in a sense, because it something familiar and different all at once. I love things that connect, and it was a big pleasure to see all of these characters who either have ties to legacies or each other (all the main characters, Sandra Knight in the background, etc). Also cool to see other names, like Jack Napier.
Not much to say about this but one word: Golden.

Thank you, Charlie! As for the Ned Wayne bit, I wanted to establish some sort of precedence for Wayne Family philanthropy in Gotham City--- and also how the fate of the Waynes are tied to this house! Also, anyone care to take a crack at what Bertie and Cordelia name their son...?

The Golden Age is so rich in these wonderful characters, it's a shame not to use them (even if it's just for name dropping, as in the case of Sandra Knight). Anyone find the cameo by the Crimson Avenger and the Red Bee?

Lee Travis, the newspaper editor (was it editor?) is the Crimson Avenger... Fans of the Crimson Avenger might be interested in noting that there is a very special, very cool project on the table for that character, coming sometime in '07!

This is some good stuff.
Spectre: Take that, Benson! You're toast, mothertrucker! BWA-HA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Alan Scott: Who gave Jim sugar?
Ted Grant: I dunno, but it's sure funny.

I knew almost everybody who appeared in the story. But I couldn't place Presscot Vandergilt and neither Wikipedia or the DCU Guide were any help. Who he, Where he appear?

Finally got a chance to read this, and it was well worth the wait. Most of what I loved here has been said already, although just seeing G. Zatara was worth every penny (or would have been if I had bought it.)
This was a great way for me to cap off my Christmas holiday. Excellent job, Dave. Like the Doc pointed out. You've got a superb flair for the Golden Age. Five stars, my friend! Thanks for a wonderful Christmas tale.

You cooked up one heck of a story to go out on, David (for the time being, of course!). So many different threads running through it, and you tied them all toether nicely. I gotta say, though...the freakin' Red Bee? That's the last name I expected to see around here! ;D
