FANTASTIC! I was sure that you hadn't written enough for the conclusion, but it was perfect, all the strings tied together to make a perfect story. WOW! I want to read more of your Batman. I know your love is for the JSA, but for God's sake man, for a character you claim to have no grasp of this was fantastic! No, loose ends, plots started and ended, Dick and Babs at last welcomed back into the family? I cannot wait for more DETECTIVE COMICS!

Well as I've said from the beginning, Idle. You are another writer that I would follow anywhere just to read. This story was extrordinary! I have to second HoM...WOW!!!

Great detective story! Not so complicated that you have to keep a score card and not so simple that you know immediately who dunnit! I must admit you had me fooled! Great job!

Thanks, fellas. I hope this arc fulfilled it's primary purpose of establishing the staus quo for the Bat-family in current DC2 continuity, a task which will be ably assumed by the new writers of this title, and to a certain extent New Outsiders and Teen Titans--- not to mention the forthcoming Nightwing.

Wait, did I hear HoM right...you don't have a grasp of Batman's character?!? You're a stinkin' liar, and this story proves it! Loved all the tidbits you worked in (Julie Madison and her death, in particular) and I was also surprised you managed to get it all done so quickly, but not rushed. The new 'Tec writer has a tough act to follow!

I second that... To say that you don't have a grasp on Bats just proves that you could write anything you put your mind to. This was an excellent romp... and not only in terms of action. It was fast paced, easy to follow, intelligent and a great Batman story. This could easily be shoe-horned into DC continuity. Yoour exploration into Batman's Psyche was fascinating... not just Bats psyche though... just your general knowledge of Psychology is amazing... or did you just make all of it up?
Indeed, the follow up writer has tough shoes to fill here...

But we've no doubt that they can match the formers story in subject and style!

I liked the little wink to Ms Vale... He may have hit rock bottom through Knightfall but he's still funny when he has to be. I think that all the characterisation we have going of Batman here is so much akin to the original Timm/Dini Batman animated character... He's fun! Wow, we don't get to say that much about Batman, do we?

I just finished this. Awesome all the way through. I don't think I can really add much more to what's been said already but that I thoroughly enjoyed this intelligent, disturbing, and exciting tale!

Indeed, the follow up writer has tough shoes to fill here... I third that. Great issue! Wow. I can't believe I have to follow this up!

I'm not a fan of the overally grim and brooding Batman (not that the character shouldn't be grim and brooding to an extent, after all, he is the G-D Batman!)--- but he should never get to the point he is in the DCU today, suspicious of and antagonistic to everything and everyone around him. Of course there's a crisis coming--- they've written Batman into a corner and have to fix him!

I love the grim batman. In my opinion its a "which-is-cooler" situation, and in my opinion, the grim batman is. well... when robin is out of the picture that is. there are two sides to every coin.

Liked the cover, although not sure now whether Vicki's a red-head (like the comics and the cover suggest) or a blonde (like the movies and the first chapter suggest).
Anyway, great conclusion to the story with everything wrapped up nicely. Glad to see that Hugo's only been left paralysed and brain-damaged so presumably he can return one day (then again he always seemed to be dying in the comics and that never seemed to stop him either).
On the picky front "As I student" should have been "As a student" and "pining James Maybrick" should have been "pinning James Maybrick".
