No not regularly, but when a piece comes up that is too good to pass on, but not long enough for a regular issue, this is how it posts. I really liked this issue. Nick really has a great handle on Batman's voice, and paced the story very well. I never really looked upon the Mad Hatter as a sinister figure before, but this issue changed my mind. I was especially creeped out by the last scene, and when Tetch utters that famous line: "We're all mad, here!" In that moment, I knew we were in the land of a psychopath's twisted imagination. And how about that surprise ending...! Can't wait to read next issue! "Michelle's" was a poignant reminder that Batman is still human, and very well-told by Brian. All in all, this issue was a one-two punch that really delivered the goods!

Crikey! Competition! And some fantastic writing if I ever saw it!

I also want to put my two cents in, Nick, and tell you what a great beginning you've created. I'm with Idle, I never really thought that much of the Hatter, but you have made me sit up and take notice! Great job!
and thanks for the kind words, guys...

Thanks a lot! I tried to give the Hatter more of an evil BTAS style (tell me Dini's version doesn't creep you out) rather than the slightly lighter comic version. Anyway, thanks for the kind words!

Thanks, Nick, that means a lot. Your story was not an easy act to follow, and thanks for letting me share some space with you. I should also give a quick thanks to Charlie and Ellen. My very first piece on the boards wouldn't be here if it weren't for those two. I really can't wait to read the rest of your story Nick. You've got me hooked!

does anyone else agree that the idealization of thomas and martha wayne's marriage is reaching absurd heights?

good question. possibly, but I think in the eyes of an eight year old who lost his parents at such an early age, no...not at all.

I've been inconsiderate. Haven't been reviewing as much as I ought to be. Sorry! (I think it has to do with using the issues as reference guides. I never thanked the people who wrote my textbooks in college either. Maybe I should have...)
Nick, Brian you've provided some seriously good writing. It's early days on the site still, and what we're doing is basically establishing the personalities and motivations of our characters in ways that will reverberate for some time to come. Here's where the foundation is laid. And you've provided some rock-solid construction. Bravo!

The Mad Hatter story was good, but I gave this "Best issue of the week" mostly on the back-up. A wonderful surprise to get 2 stories, and the second actually got me a bit choked up at the end (me and Bruce, bawling like babies! ). More double-headers, please!

The ending was all part of my original story idea. But I can't say too much, I might spoil the next issue. More will come next issue which comes out in 1 week!
