Wow. Very dark and gruesome, but nevertheless an interesting take on Batman. I'm actually enjoying this vision of the Dark Knight, for a few reasons:
I like the tension between Batman and Gordon. Sure they are allies, but it seems realistic to me that Gordon wouldn't trust Batman all the time, especially in light of his recent unhinged behavior.
I like the characterization of the Reaper. Genuinely creepy.
I like the general sense of dread I feel as I watch Batman coming more and more unglued and going to a very dark place I hope he doesn't enter. The tone of this story is very unsettling, even despairing, and for a guy like Batman born of tragedy (as alluded to in the opening) this atmosphere is very effective.
I like the "Reservoir Dogs" style cliffhanger ending.
All in all, I can appreciate the different style you bring to the character, and I can even chuckle about the "goddamn" Batman. I will be interested to see how this ends up.

This is one of the better Batman stories on the site, up there with Batmite and Lustmord because the writer has a specific view of the character, and it shows. I enjoy the tension, the suspence, but I'm going to keep taking digs at Ramon for really emoting the idea of touching dead things. Dude, get some help... All in all, an awesome middle to a three part story!

A quick paintjob, and the house looks great! I'm not a Miller fan, and I still enjoyed the story. That says a lot. Great job!

I wish sometimes that this would cross-over with BATMAN so I didn't have to wait a month lol!
As I said good work and bring on the second Robin SOON!

There was a time when Batman was a dark and mysterious avenger of the night. Then he became a paranoid jerk. I do not think there is only one way to interpret Batman as a character. Some just work better under certain writers. This version of Batman as a near broken man works here.
I couldn't get into the Reaper as much as I would have liked to but there was enough Gordon and Batman to well make up for it. I guess you could call this a Frank Miller inspired tale. To narrow it down I would call this a Year one tale not only in setting but theme as well.
Batman operated as a solo act for most of the 70's and early 80's and things did lean toward a darker and gritty theme sometimes. I know not everyone likes the "Dark" in Dark Knight but I think this story proves when done well, it can be one of the most exciting interpretations of Batman!
Great job Ramon! Best issue of the week because the cliffhanger alone, was executed so well!

I really don't think there's much more to say about this issue than...WOW. It was absolutely amazing. This may very well be the best Batman story on the site right now (though I haven't read Locked inside the Facade, which I hope to do soon). Very, very good. I really like your characterization of Batman. He's dark without being rediculously over the top like Frank Miller's (though "I'm The GODDAM BATMAN" might make me think otherwise ). Anyway, really great issue, and an unbelievable ending. Can't wait to read the conclusion!
