I would like to kick off this letters column by saying that it is very cool to be working with Brian and the rest of the Bat-team on this title. John the editor and Charlie over on BATMAN have all made this very fun and worth while. I was surprised and honered to be asked to co-write on this title with Brian(starlord) and must thank Brian for picking up a whole lot of my slack so far as I have been very busy with Gotham: City of the Dead(plug) and..well some other stuff in the real world. Thanks fellas and I look forward to the rest of this run.

This is a great start, with much deeper characterizations than what we've seen in this title. I liked that the focus wasn't only on Batman whupping a super villain. We got a glimpse of Gotham's police force, and a bit more of Bruce Wayne. I very much enjoyed the Bruce/Harvey meeting.
You also delved deeper into Gotham's criminal underworld, specifically the (Thorne's) mob. Bats doesn't only tangle with crazy creeps like the Joker; there's a whole other organized criminal element that I'm glad to see taking center stage.
Don't get me wrong, I love the super-creeps, and the introduction of the Ventriloquist was very well done. I guess I should just say I liked this issue, and I like the direction of this title.

Surprised you didn't mention The Ventriloquist in the solicit. It's lucky he was on the cover, since he was the reason I decided to check the issue out.
I thought the writing was okay, although nothing really stood out for me. Then again, a lot of this issue was setting up things for next time and beyond, so I'll pop back next month to see how things pan out.

Real nice debut guys, glad we can at last see the fruits of your efforts! Strong writing, strong characterisation, and Bruce! More Bruce. Is it me, or have we seen more Bruce Wayne in the past two months than the prior year at the site? Good omen me thinks! Your two styles of writing mesh really well, and I barely noticed any difference between sections! I'll be back next issue, you can be sure of that!

Bravo, gentlemen! This was a great start to the new Year of the Bat! Just a very well-rounded issue, with lots of little hints and hooks to keep me coming back for more. I really enjoyed reading this!
The Ventriloquist and Scarface were a nice touch, as was the potential hinted at between Bruce and Harvey, but what stands out the most was the depth of corruption in Gotham, from the judges, to the mayor and finally the comissioner.
Loved the last scene between Batman and Gordon. Can't wait to see how this develops!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the feedback! And Chris, the pleasure is really all mine. We do have some interesting things planned and we hope you'll all stay with us as we do our best to not only continue fleshing out Bruce but all of the players in Gotham. We've got twists and turns and hopefully a few surprises. Also have to admit that none of this would be possible without the support of Charlie, John, Ramon, Brandon, David, and all the others who love the characters that began with Mr. Kane. Your passion for the citizens of Gotham keep us on our toes and make us want to write the best story's that we can. Thank you for that. Now if you'll excuse me, I hear there's zombies running around in Gotham and I need to go take a look.

A cross between the Long Halloween/Dark Victory and the Alan Grant era stuff here. Good mix. The Ventriloquist is laughable yet scary at the same time. The semi-rivals Thorne and Falcone are good too. It's amusing to me that neither one of them really understands who *really* runs this town....yet. I'm sure that Batman will correct that soon enough.
Ah....Harvey, Harvey. I wonder how much time you have left...

Ah....Harvey, Harvey. I wonder how much time you have left... I agree 100% on the Long Halloween and Alan Grant feel to this title. Some of the best Bat stuff done and it deserves the comparison! These guys are really working hard at building a great story here. There are so many layers that we have yet to be exposed to yet we are still treated to an exciting and intriguing story! The characterization is right on as well as the 'dark damp' feel of Gotham City. I really feel that Brian and Chris have captured everything they set out to do with this title. As for Harvey Dent...all I can say is just wait! His story has just begun. The poor sucker doesn't even realize that the roller-coaster is slowly moving up the track. Can't wait till the car drops! Great job guys! I am proud to be a part of this book and can't wait to see what happens next! I laughed when I saw the cover. I didn't catch the water glass at first. Very nice touch indeed there Ramon!

Sorry Arcalian I missed you comment before. Thank you for reading and commenting. As John said here we have big plans coming up for the Dark Knight and everyone else in Gotham. Keep reading and you'll see new and old faces you you'll never expect.

Thanks for the comments! Although I'm not sure what all this fuss is with Harvey? Somebody know something that I don't? Oh nevermind, let's just say it since we all know where it's going anyway. Yes, Harvey Dent is well on his way to being... the next Robin! There! Now that that's over, can we move on? ;D Seriously, thanks for the kind words folks.

interesting issue!
I loved the introduction of Scarface, complete with his inability to pronouce the letter B. lol
I've always thought Gotham underworld sans super villian never gets enough attention so well done ;D
