Twenty five eleventy stars.
That was an amazing piece of our Batman mythos, right there Brian.
You gave us emotion, action, adventure, bit of romance, bit of comedy, and it all WORKED.
Batman isn't gloomy! Batman isn't an anal retentive son of a bitch! He's a HERO! And this is why! Can't wait for the...
Oh crap!
*goes to write Batman #15*

Thanks for the kind words, guys.
I do want to take a second to thank Ramon for an awesome cover!
And what I should have put in the title page was that this was co plotted with Chris Paugh. That was my bad. And even though he isn't with us as much as he would like to be, at the moment, his thoughts and presence are in each one of these issue's now, and in the future. Miss ya, pal!

Someone moving in next to Bruce? Could it be the Drake family, by chance?
Black Mask! Never saw that one coming in a million years. I have a special hate-on for him since he killed Spoiler.
Gordon and Bullock were good partners.....for about 10 seconds. Nice bit with the Ventriloquist, there.
I knew a crossover was coming, and I knew Gordon was not in the shape, but even so it was visceral and shocking.

Thank you Arcalian. Glad you were surprised. As for the next door neighbor's, hmmm....
I have to say, for the record, that as my day went on I began to feel more and more guilt over this issue. This issue was not mine, not by a mile.
The final scene was all Chris Paugh. It was his idea, his plot point, and from the moment he brought it up, I knew it would be the most riveting way to go.
The plot itself, well, that's a combination of four people who put their heart and soul into this issue, and the next four issue's of both Bat titles. So for that reason, I added their names to the credits. This is a group effort, and none of it is possible without the other three.
Thank you all gentlemen for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful adventure.

Great job Brian and Chris (and Ramon)!
This issue was even better (if possible) than the last, and just filled with great scenes (Gordon and Bullock interogating the Ventriloquist was my favorite--- and written very cleverly!--- but Bruce's smackdown on Sionis was a close second).
It was nice to see Gordon finally get the recognition he is due--- only to have it for a scant few hours! That last scene was straight out of a Brian De Palma film. My first thought: Batman is going to be pissed!
Can't wait for the next issue.

Thanks for the feedback, Dave. We've all worked very hard for this event, and I hope you hang around to see how it ends. Because theirs a few shake ups coming in this story. Hopefully a couple that may just drop your jaw.

Excellent issue. Excellent plot, excellent characterizations, excellent spotlight on Gordon/Bullock and Bruce Wayne. Excellent twists and turns to keep you guessing. For a Batman book with virtually no Batman in it, this is just excellent.
Excellent, excellent, excellent.
Geez, guess I liked it, huh?
Keep up the stellar (fooled you) work.

It is great to see that this issue has been received so well. The group of writers in the Bat cave have being working really hard to produce the best Bat tales around. Brian really pulled it all together here to deliver a great tale. Brian and Chris took bold steps to make this title their own and exceeded every expectation!
Personally I loved the Ventriloquist scenes here! Dark humor at it's finest! Another part was how Bruce really stuck it to Roman. I love to see Bruce as the bad-ass businessman! Of course Roman could turn out to be a bigger problem down the road...
And yes the last scene was just chilling (great idea Chris and executed perfectly by Brian)!
Of course the big thing here is the the 4 part crossover is finally here! So many goodies to look forward to!

Well, after all the letter page hype, I was kind of let down at first, and the way Gordon and Bullock kept bursting out laughing reminded me of the way Police Squad episodes used to end. Then, after what I thought was a slow start, it all sort of turned around, and I really got into it by the end. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Thanks for commenting, Mark! What I was shooting for at the beginning was to show the readers that there was a friendship of sorts, at one time, between Gordon and Bullock. Sorry it didn't come across that way for you. Police Squad. Hmmm... that gives me an idea for an annual. ;D
I am very glad that it picked up by the end, though. Hope you enjoy the next one! Thanks again, Sir!

I got a real kick out of this issue. Particular the image of Bullock knocking that woman with a frying pan. I actually laughed outloud whilst reading that.
Gordon's final moments after he is shot was, frankly, brilliant. Very dramatic.

I would also like to take a second to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Chris Paugh aka Tonly Clifton... who I miss. He was a great partner and I keep hoping to see him back in the saddle one of these days.
If you read this pal, hope you have a great birthday!
