I thought it was a good read, and liked the way all the plot threads tied together. If I was to be picky, I found Batman being faster than a speeding rocket a bit unbelievable, and was also kind of surprised that a boy like Jimmy had a baby doll that cried.

thanks for the comments folks, and I will respond back when I get more of a chance (possibly July  ). but arcalian, that is Jim and Barbara's child, that Penguin gave back. sorry if it was a bit muddled. mark, if I had known Flash was going to be around, I would have used him as the missle rescuer. I know he's faster. ;D |

I want to take a minute to really thank some people on this cross-over. John, Chris, and Charlie are some of the most creative people I have had the honor to work with, and although I probably could have done some things better, I thank the three of them for allowing me to be a part of this great team.
I'm also very happy to see Chris roaming the halls, again. It makes me glad to see him back.
A great thank you to Ramon who's covers for Tec have been awesome, especially since he always had such little time to do them. It just shows how magnificent he is around here.
And a great big shout out to Grant who came in on the middle of this and had to figure out exactly what was going on. I'm a person who's not afraid to say when he is wrong, and my first take on our newest editor was trepidation. I admit that I've become protective of this site and those who have worked so hard to make it what it is, so when a new guy comes in with new idea's and changes... and... he's a fan of Miller!!!!! I was probably not the most receptive.
I publicly apologize to you, my fine Editor. I should not have doubted you, and I hope that I can make it up to you someday. You are a great writer and a great editor. I thank you for your words of support as well.
Finally, I've got four more issue's and at least one more villain to put into place before I leave the Bat verse. I hope you all hang around to see what happens next.
and if you haven't read this issue yet, please do. There's a moment in here that may reach into the books of Teen Titans, Nightwing, and The New Outsiders...
Mostly, though, thank you all for allowing me to write. It's always been a great privilege that you all let me play here with you.

Listen, I came from a fan fiction website that was run by an obessive bunch of loonies who would not brook any difference of opinion or style. It was not fun at all. As the Bat-editor, you can Charlie have made my job pretty easy so far, specially since I came in mid-stream and my work life is pretty busy. Bottom line, I never picked up any negative vibes. I finally got caught up on this crossover and I loved it. I have to say that with everything going "behind the scenes" Im even more impressed with how this turned out. Even though I had to take off in the middle of this I cant say enough how cool Brian is to work with. He had to take on more of this than he had planned to and that was my fault.(Sorry again B) I think he certainly met the challenge.
I know its fun to rag on Charlie (and it is fun) but I gotta say when its time to start throwing out ideas the dude is right there with a million things flying through the air. He has more ideas brewing than most, so its only natural that a few bad ones slip through. That being said I dont think any of the bad ones were present here. Great Job, Chuck.
When we started plotting all this the goal was to establish the underworld and seedier side of Gotham in DC2 continuity and I really think it was accomplished here.
John and then Grant had their hands full keeping track of all the threads and twistand turns in this story and did a wonderful job.
Last but not least Tupps and Ramon turned out some damn good covers for this. Both of these guys are consistently good no matter how late in the game you spring an idea on them. Great covers fellas!

Great ending to the crossover! Packed with action, character development and startling revelations. There seemed to be a twist and turn around every corner in this issue, starting with the very first scene--- nice to see Gordon and Bullock come full circle! I like how Deathstroke is tied into the Bat-mythos now, but it does seem to lessen his involvement in the Teen Titans (not that that is a criticism, merely an observation). I liked how the Bat- Family (groan :  ( ) battled the assassin to a standstill, yet somehow Slade emerges with his reputation intact; that is just smart storytelling! Black Mask is just effin' crazy, but the Penguin looks to be a character worth looking out for. Not to mention a certain proactive D.A. My biggest issue with the issue--- the Kiss. Man, what is going through Dick's head?!? He's leading on one girl in his own title, obviously has feelings for Starfire in TT, and is crushing on Barbara in this one... I sense some 'splainin' in Batboy's future. And BTW, isn't Nightwing on the verge of overexposure? He's appeared in 10 issues over the last two months (five different titles)! This issue was definately payoff for a fine arc, but I'm looking forward to these titles being about Batman again. Five stars, guys! |

Writing Deathstroke is not easy, by any stretch of the imagination. I promise that from here on out, in Tec, will be about Bruce/Batman and a certain D.A. who's time has come. Nightwing has been showing up a lot, but I can promise that after this issue, he won't be seen here for the next four months at least. But wait til you see how he joins the New Outsiders. And as for the kiss? Yeah, what's up with that? ;D I wanted it to be a spontaneous kiss between James Gordon and his daughter, but for some odd reason, Grant nixed that. Thank you, though, for reading this story about the rise of James Gordon, Batman, and Batman's family.  |

Surprises left and right in this issue, from Gordon with a gun (not to be confused with the Aerosmith classic "Janie's got a Gun") to Black Mask's new look (a feeding tube? Dude, life's gonna suck for this guy) I never knew what was going to happen next. Some scenes didn't play well with me (the sudden gift-wrapping of the assassin comes to mind), but the rest of the story made up for it. And congrats, Grant, on your new position here at DC2!

thanks for reading, Susan. I'll admit that the presentation of the assassin at the end was a bit quick. I felt I needed to do it in this issue so that I could move forward in time to get the stuff done that I wanted to, before I left the batcave. You are right, though, it felt forced. But glad that you enjoyed the issue on a whole.
