Not bad, the action is rising with Dr Death in the background doing his thing, Onomatopoeia stalking Bats, and all the while duking it out with the Suicide Squad. Although I have to say, if Deadshot were around the fight would have been over a lot quicker. (Seriously, whatever happened to Deadshot after that issue of RG?)
I liked the side story at the end of things. It's not my favourite way of Croc being written, but you did a nice job of the primal version. Keep 'em coming.

It's funny that you should mention that. I won't step over Charlie and comment on the events of this issue but since you asked what happened to Deadshot after almost two years.... I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to promote some exciting and long delayed DC2 stories featuring Deadshot among others. Firstly, it appears you my have missed Deadshot in last years DC2 Specials #3: "A DC2 Christmas". It features Deadshot in a short holiday tale that addresses an important 'family matter' Addie Kane revealed at the end of Rogues Gallery #2. Next up, Deadshot appears in the Suicide Squad backup story Tales of Belle Reve #3 (posting this week) where he confronts Amanda Waller for the first time since he shot her in the head back during the Apokolips Imperative. That story hints at a few things that may or may not be relevant to this title. After that, Deadshot appears in All-Star Comics #15 featuring Batman. And if that isn't enough....When Checkmate makes its return next month, Deadshot plays an important role in a story that picks up a lot of dangling plot threads from Rogues Gallery #2 and Suicide Squad 1-12. Plus, it features a rematch between Deadshot and Deathstroke that will blow you away! Is that a serious enough response for you concerning ol' Deadshot?

Not bad, the action is rising with Dr Death in the background doing his thing, Onomatopoeia stalking Bats, and all the while duking it out with the Suicide Squad. It's all coming together! Doctor Death and Onomatopoeia are two of the big villains of my run, and I hope you'll be genuinely surprised with where I go with the dear Doctor. Onomatopoeia, on the other hand, is going to bring about the destruction of the entirety of Gotham. Wait, is that spoiler? Or a tease? Although I have to say, if Deadshot were around the fight would have been over a lot quicker. (Seriously, whatever happened to Deadshot after that issue of RG?) Yeah, that Deadshot guy, he'd really cause trouble if he was in Gotham I liked the side story at the end of things. It's not my favourite way of Croc being written, but you did a nice job of the primal version. Keep 'em coming. Sorry you didn't like the version, and I'm still experimenting with the character, and hopefully, he'll be back before my run is over. Lots of themes and ideas are running through the book right now, and I'm enjoying where I'm going. Here's hoping you enjoy it too.

I thought this issue was pretty good, but the first half was definitely stronger than the second. The Suicide Squad plot reminds me of the current "New Ways to Die" over at real-life Marvel in concept, but it's proven to be very distinct- and very good- in execution, thus far at least. The Squad aspect is definitely the most captivating part of the issue.
The Arkham takeover idea is an interesting one, though I can't see how it will end well for Dick, especially not with Alfred's warning! When will these people realise Alfred is always right!? Some of the dialogue towards the end was more hammy, and the prose itself was overblown from time to time, but this was made up for by excellent little stretches- the initial revelations about the doctor and the child are both creepy and very well written, building a flow and a rhythm and keeping it.
Overall then, not many flaws, a solid 4 stars and I'll be back for more next month!

The Squad aspect is definitely the most captivating part of the issue. I've not been picking up New Ways To Die, only reading the "cliff notes" on certain sites, so I don't know how the two stories tally up but I'll... Take it as a compliment? The Arkham takeover idea is an interesting one, though I can't see how it will end well for Dick, especially not with Alfred's warning! When will these people realise Alfred is always right!? Oh, you'll see. Some of the dialogue towards the end was more hammy, and the prose itself was overblown from time to time, but this was made up for by excellent little stretches- the initial revelations about the doctor and the child are both creepy and very well written, building a flow and a rhythm and keeping it. I realised I needed to get my big bad established in this issue, to carry through on the threats laid out in #33, so the doctor was a later addition, and I was worried about it, but Don and Ellen both helped. And so did you, Kevin! I'm quite proud of this story-arc so far, and I hope you'll enjoy the next two issues. Overall then, not many flaws, a solid 4 stars and I'll be back for more next month! Thanks man! I'm just waiting for Jay and John to pop their heads in and tell me how I did with their babies

Well I already knew how you were handling my babies, but somehow I missed the bit about Cavalier whining so much that Manhunter told him to take a hike. But, no biggie.
Edit: And oh yes, Parademon gave as good as he got. Hard to really hurt, that one.
Also the background stuff about the Onomatopiea guy or however you spell it interests me, and the separate killer.
Waiting to see how you handle the *next* baby.....heheh....

Well I already knew how you were handling my babies, but somehow I missed the bit about Cavalier whining so much that Manhunter told him to take a hike. But, no biggie. My characterisation of Cavalier is biased so much by the DCAU Batman story written by Dan Slott. It was beautiful, and that final line? If you know which story I'm talking about, you know why it stuck with me so bad. *sigh* Edit: And oh yes, Parademon gave as good as he got. Hard to really hurt, that one. Parademon is probably raring for some revenge, don't you all think? Also the background stuff about the Onomatopiea guy or however you spell it interests me, and the separate killer. Onomatopoeia? It's all coming together... Waiting to see how you handle the *next* baby.....heheh.... Terra dies. From death. ... That could actually work O! I'd also like to welcome onboard the Detective Comics team our new editor (until January!) Ellen Fleischer! You may be familiar with her work on Nightwing, and if you're not, then, well, that rock you're living under? It has to go

Well, uhhh, honestly? This was a pretty good Suicide Squad story with some nice interaction with Batman. The subplots are very intriguing and the whole Arkham thing has piqued my curiosity by a mile! but the main story... it really had a huge feel of Brave and the Bold and little of Detective Comics. Which I guess isn't a bad thing, every once in a while. The back up... now that was great!!! Loved it!!! And the cover was excellent as well. I'm sorry.

Well, uhhh, honestly? This was a pretty good Suicide Squad story with some nice interaction with Batman. Christ, I was terrified about using the Suicide Squad, especially considering that John Elbe and Jay McIntyre have come so far with those guys. Finding the right balance was really hard, because I didn't want to short change the team, or job them, so yeah, I can see where you're coming from. Hopefully next issue will be much more to your liking with a bit more Dick action. ... Well that just sounds lewd The subplots are very intriguing and the whole Arkham thing has piqued my curiosity by a mile! This will roll out into both Batman and Nightwing down the line, and I hope you like where we're going with this! but the main story... it really had a huge feel of Brave and the Bold and little of Detective Comics. Which I guess isn't a bad thing, every once in a while. Well as long as that's Brave and the Bold with Neal Adams on art? Or George Perez? I can live with that. The back up... now that was great!!! Loved it!!! And the cover was excellent as well. JayZirron really delivered there. I built around his really solid centre, and I think it came out wonderfully. Big props to that guy I'm sorry. Don't apologize, I always appreciate the feedback you give, and I see where you're coming from!
