As much as I enjoyed the arc, this "epilogue" was near picture perfect. Favorite line had to be Dick admonishing Tim for admonishing Firefly. LOL!
Excellent stuff. This book has acquired new heights with this team, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Keep up the great work, guys!

It's me playing continuity cop again. In the current Question series the Commissioner is Johnny Double. In this issue of Tec you mentioned a John Dare as the Commissioner of Hub City. If this flashback was set in present DC2 history it was a glaring mistake although i must admit I like the name.

Omigod! Thanks for the head's up, that... that's a long story, and I need to fix that mistake! HA!

I was surprised to see the deliberate playing to the "Dynamic Duo" notion. Though I can readily admit, it works better for Dick and Tim than it would for Bruce and Dick.
Also liked Bullock's comparison of Frost to Ivy, and Batman pwning that idiot Petit. Oh yes, I remember him from the comics quite well.
And thanks for playing continuity cop with the Squad recapturing Frost. Also it's very true to form for Frost to consider it a "vacation"!
Are you going to be co-writer of the book from now on Charlie, or are you all the way out?

I loved the character of Petit. One of my favorites in the Gotham City Police book that Rucka wrote.

We couldn't get rid of Charlie from this title if we tried... Loved Charlie's part of the story, but I did have fun writing a bit of the Suicide Squad as well.

The first scene was the first scene I wrote (this is not always the case for me) and I felt proud of it as it came out. I just want to reestablish the status quo of the characters before Robin... well, I think we both know. Excellent stuff. This book has acquired new heights with this team, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Keep up the great work, guys! This team? Brian, Mike and myself? Yes, a fantastic threesome of talent, one I was proud to be part of This issue was a load of fun to coordinate, and I hope we do you proud as our two storylines begin next month. Two storylines? INDEED! EXUENT!

I was surprised to see the deliberate playing to the "Dynamic Duo" notion. Though I can readily admit, it works better for Dick and Tim than it would for Bruce and Dick. I think so, though Bruce can do it depending on the writer, and how he sets it. But this was deliberate, like you said, and an attempt to really get Batman back to an obvious place in Gotham City. The Caped Crusader. More on that next year. Keep your eye out for something special... Also liked Bullock's comparison of Frost to Ivy, and Batman pwning that idiot Petit. Oh yes, I remember him from the comics quite well. Ah, No Man's Land was brutal. And thanks for playing continuity cop with the Squad recapturing Frost. Also it's very true to form for Frost to consider it a "vacation"! I was really happy with how the Frost storyline tied up, and I think we're ready to move on with the future of the book now that this opening five parter is over and done Are you going to be co-writer of the book from now on Charlie, or are you all the way out? Not getting rid of me yet, sir!

Good solid wrap-up of the Trial story and setting up the current status. It was great seeing the Dynamic Duo back in action, that's something I've long missed. Serious Batman who can have a moment of fun with a daredevil sidekick. So great. Thank you.
And the collection of Killer Frost was great, as was pointing out how Frost is different from the majority of ice-wielding characters out there. That was a sweet touch.
The wrap-up, the wistful departure of Babs from Dick's life, the drive through the city with Alfred...good solid job, Charlie. Congrats.
Take care Don

Wow! "Trial by Fire" was an amazing arc and this epilogue was, as has been stated above, perfect. What a great way to introduce Dick to the mantle of The Bat, facing off against Waller's Task Force X. The different ways Grayson defeated his opponents showcased not just his worthiness as a successor but also how he's different from Bruce and what's always so fun about Batman as a character. What a great run! Can't wait to see more of Grayson under the cowl.

What a great run! Can't wait to see more of Grayson under the cowl. I loved writing this arc! I've always had a fascination with the Suicide Squad, and had plans to launch a new ongoing called Task Force X a while after this, but as with a lot of plans on the site, it never materialised. It was really important to show off Dick in the role, to really get into the nitty gritty of who he is and why he's worthy of the cowl. There was somewhat of a deadline for the return-- or " The Return", as we called the return arc-- of Bruce, because we all knew he was gonna come back, and the way Grant wrote his death was a direct reference to ' The Final Problem' so it wasn't even subtle haha, but it was important to give Dick a good showing. I'm actually working on the pseudo-sequel to this story in Most Wanted, but that stalled-- even though we have all the covers in the bag!-- so I'm hoping to get back to that event within then next year or so. It's flipping the script somewhat, because this time it'll be Bruce in the cowl going against the Squad, and they have a very legitimate reason for wanting him dead. I need to finish so much stuff! No more new projects until the stuff I've started is in the bag! Lamentation Day, Most Wanted, The Dark Knight, Omega Crisis, Batman: The Last Laugh, The Flash... it's going to be a busy time catching up, but I think worth it... maybe...

I think we all knew that Batman would return, but it was a great run with some real emotional heft.
Task Force X is the perfect foil for a hero like Nightwing or Batman--just enough power and ability to be a legitimate threat to someone like Batman without cracking suspension of disbelief, diabolical and cruel like real Gotham Rogues! I'd think a follow-up would be stellar, but it sounds like you've got quite a load on your plate!
