Wow! Flesh-Monger has made her move and looks like Black Mask's paying for it! Awesome stuff in this issue. Really liked Orpheus, he was bad ass! Beat that bouncer in like two seconds which was pretty sweet. That cover was absolutely beautiful as well. Batman looks more like this shadowy beast than a guy in a suit and that's very cool. Job well done by everyone!

Now, this is what I'm talking about! The Bat-titles are converging in a wonderful way-- be it the Black Mask/Flesh Monger interaction that folds into the ongoing Batman title right now, or the overall themes that are all building to something monumental coming next month!
Orpheus was fun-- dangerous, sleek, cool, but not running into "more bad ass than Batman" territory, which is where I'm always worried writers might take the character. It's always a worry when we introduce new supporting characters, because it might appear that we're playing favourites, but Batman wasn't out-shined by the new comer, and he wasn't an unstoppable force of destruction/Mary Sue character. He was flawed, a bit arrogant, but "heroic" none the less.
It looks like The Hill is in good hands! It was a fun issue to edit-- so little to do (I hope !)-- and I loved the overarching gang war plots that are now coming to the forefront. Very cool. A brilliant issue, a great cover, and I'm looking forward to where this title-- and writer-- is going in the future!

As ruthless as Flesh Monger is and she decides to throw Black Mask down a cliff? With all her power? Okay, I know you want to leave open the possibility of his return but since this is Gotham I would think the new alpha female would not want to take any chances since many of Gotham's gang bosses have a habit of surviving impossible odds. That ending doesn't ring true to me.
