Welcome to the first letter column for DC2 Nemesis, and event I hope you all read and enjoy. This book has been a long time coming, moments inside triggered by books from across the site, be them Batman, Wonder Woman, New Gods, or Green Lantern. The universe will not go untouched by this storyline. Hopefully you'll see some characters you love, some characters you hate, and some characters you were completely not expecting, and I hope I do the story proud.
In the coming weeks we'll see Specials and Prologues written by some of the talented people of this site, involving some of their favourite characters, and expanding on some of the events inside the mini, and I have to admit, those are what I'm looking forward to in regards to this.
Over the next few days though, a DC2 Nemesis Checklist will be going up, helping to connect the dots for those of you coming into this cold (I tried to make this as accessible as possible, but obviously, there will be moments where people go "Yeahbuhwhah?" and I intend for them to be easily remedied regardless.
This issue could not be here without the hardwork of everyone else on the site. All the brilliant work you're doing with the DC2 characters makes it so fun to pick up and use them in books like this, and if it wasn't for certain peoples runs on books, characters wouldn't be appearing in this title. As demonstrated with cameos in this issue, and the coming issues of the story.
Anyway, I think I'm done now, and with that, I invite you to tell us what you think! Don't worry. I don't think the other Letters to will be this wordy...

Damn space whales always getting caught in Jupiter's orbit... Really good issue I thought. Loved the interaction between some of the characters, especially Hank's with everyone. Filling in for Hal would be a very scary task. Loved the beginning part of the issue as well with that scene also being aided very well by that beautiful cover. Good work on all ends I'd say and looking forward to next issue of the storyline.

Nice start to an interesting story. I have been pretty far behind on my reading here and I'm working on getting caught up(still) I had no idea that Hank Henshaw was a Green Lantern now. Looking forward to getting into this thing.

Overall, this was a nice start to what looks to be the DC2 event of the year. A few things struck me as off (Wonder Woman just waiting for something to happen atop Mt. Rushmore, and Superman saying the Justice League will handle the crisis with "finesse" sounded a bit too, uh, fabulous, for the Man of Steel, if you take my meaning--- I half expected him to snap his fingers in a Z formation) or heavy handed (lots of stuff, like the scene with Dick going over the encounter with the JSA, and especially the last scene at the Hall came out in exposition rather than in a way that fit more organically within the story), but overall, this issue did its job: it created an atmosphere of dread and anticipation, set the stage for what appears to be a BIG story, and whetted my appetite for more.
Oh, and I feel like I should know who the "black and red leather-clad" individual is, who encounters Zauriel at the end... Am I missing something?
Kudos to all involved--- including the cover artist (Ramon? Hard to tell with no proper credits). Beautifully composed image, stark and scary, with a perfect font accompaniment for the logo.
Bring on the checklist and see ya next month!

Hey Guys, it's a good read... space /dimensions/ New Gods in DCU was never really my thing, but I liked the direction where this going... I think I am going to have to put this on my 'pull' list, because I do like the overall feel of the first issue.
I like the fact that some smaller characters are getting some face time... it'll be interesting to see where this goes.
**** from me.
Cover is effective, not much to it. **** from me for it.

So here's the truth with this. I had to read it twice because I have been so burned and so burned out by DC's constent Crises' that I had to read this twice to make sure I was reading what I was reading. What was I reading? The beginning of what a major event can be if written tightly and in linear fashion. You're bringing your A game to this, Charlie, and when you are on top of that game, nothing can beat you. WOW! Beautiful cover and great beginning. I'm really excited about this.

Damn space whales always getting caught in Jupiter's orbit... I know, right? That was a bit of a laugh, but I just like the idea of Space-[anything]. Whilst it didn't work as well as I wanted, I still like the moment. Really good issue I thought. Loved the interaction between some of the characters, especially Hank's with everyone. Filling in for Hal would be a very scary task. Hank Henshaw is bad ass. More on that to come. But seriously, he's like the Kyle Rayner in the GL mythos right now (now that we don't have one, ha!), back when Hal was still fresh in everyone's mind. Everyone knows who Green Lantern is, and it isn't Hank! But he'll be earning his stripes hella soon, if not already through the events of Green Lantern Corps: Liberation or his continuing adventures in Green Lantern. Loved the beginning part of the issue as well with that scene also being aided very well by that beautiful cover. Good work on all ends I'd say and looking forward to next issue of the storyline. Thanks, I really appreciate it. The beginning was aided by DrDread popping his head in and adding a few lines, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. And now we have a Green Lantern Corps rebuilding itself... well, nothing can go wrong, right? ... wrong.

Looking forward to getting into this thing. Cool, thanks Chris. Yeah, things have changed round here, but I think all you need to know is covered in my irritatingly exposition heavy narrative style I might write up a crazy appendix when the event is finished, with nods to all the stuff you should read to make everything make sense, but for now, you can check the Past Checklist for the lowdown of DC2 Nemesis.

Overall, this was a nice start to what looks to be the DC2 event of the year. Phew! I hope I don't fail with expectations like that! I'm really excited about writing this, more so than a lot of stuff I've written recently, and I hope that shines through. A few things struck me as off (Wonder Woman just waiting for something to happen atop Mt. Rushmore... There are plans for a Wonder Woman Prologue (yeah, I'm aware that the Prologues are coming out after the fact, but I like the facets they add to the overall narrative, so hopefully you will too!) that take us up to the moment of her ruminating atop Mt. Rushmore, so keep your eyes out for that. ...and Superman saying the Justice League will handle the crisis with "finesse" sounded a bit too, uh, fabulous, for the Man of Steel, if you take my meaning--- I half expected him to snap his fingers in a Z formation)... I like my Superman confident, though maybe "finesse" was the wrong word for it, haha. At least this book is making you think! ...or heavy handed (lots of stuff, like the scene with Dick going over the encounter with the JSA... Yeah, I'm aware I fell into the pitfall of telling and not showing, but I needed to get a lot of information across for those who haven't been keeping up with the events leading into the event proper, and a lot of stuff will be fully explored in the DC2 Nemesis Specials coming in the gap month of the event. Yes. Gap month full of madness. ...and especially the last scene at the Hall came out in exposition rather than in a way that fit more organically within the story)... Again, that was me needing to get a lot across in the opening of the story. I'll try and nuance it next time, sorry it didn't click! ...but overall, this issue did its job: it created an atmosphere of dread and anticipation, set the stage for what appears to be a BIG story, and whetted my appetite for more. And for that, I'm glad. I really want the reader to feel the kind of dread that Earth-1 is right now, because something big is coming that's been a long time in the planning (in both the story and by me writing it) and it's not going to stop. I get excited just thinking about the massive reveal in #5. Oh, and I feel like I should know who the "black and red leather-clad" individual is, who encounters Zauriel at the end... Am I missing something? Ah, yes, this is a character we've seen, who was going to have the introduction of his new identity shown in special miniseries but that never came to light so we're giving him a bit of the stage in Nemesis and hopefully you'll love it. We do have plans for a Prologue involving him, written by myself and Ramon, but it's just getting it out that's the problem. All will be revealed in #2! Well. Some will be revealed. Not all... Kudos to all involved--- including the cover artist (Ramon? Hard to tell with no proper credits). Beautifully composed image, stark and scary, with a perfect font accompaniment for the logo. Yeah, it's Ramon, and it took me surprise! The sheer elegance of the image just drew me in when I first saw it!

I think I am going to have to put this on my 'pull' list, because I do like the overall feel of the first issue. The New Gods might be in #1, but they have their own problems in the face of this threat, and will be off the board until... the gap month, when they face their own Twilight of the Gods, and I look forward to seeing that Special coming out. Big ideas, big adventure, from one of the premier writers on the site. So I hope you aren't turned off the event because of that. Things get crazy, parallel time lines and dictated future, but we don't have Gods falling backwards through time. We have them crawling up... wait, what? I like the fact that some smaller characters are getting some face time... it'll be interesting to see where this goes. I'm glad you like what I'm doing, and the lesser known characters are going to get their time in the Sun (ZING!) as the event progresses. Hope you enjoy! **** from me. Cover is effective, not much to it. **** from me for it. Thanks, Jayson!

I had to read it twice because I have been so burned and so burned out by DC's constent Crises' that I had to read this twice to make sure I was reading what I was reading. What was I reading? Phew, I thought you were building me up for a big come down, Brian The beginning of what a major event can be if written tightly and in linear fashion. You're bringing your A game to this, Charlie, and when you are on top of that game, nothing can beat you. WOW! Wow, thank you Brian. High praise indeed. I'm trying to tell this in a straight forward manner but as my editors can attest to, just because I'm trying to do something doesn't mean I am! So I need to keep my head in the game and keep second guessing myself. I think it's working... Beautiful cover and great beginning. I'm really excited about this. And now I'm excited that you're excited! Cheers, Brian!
