Great issue!
This was a bit of an interlude from the action of the main storyline, it seemed, but I really enjoyed it. I was shocked to realize I didn't know Jay Garrick's origin story, very neatly retold here by Charlie! It was nice to see the two Speedsters connect!
The action scenes were very well done, and the dialogue quick and breezy.
I can't help but see a lot of the writer in this Barry Allen (a natural, and not necessarily bad thing)--- this is a Flash developing a personality (and quite the agreeable one)--- too bad we have a Crisis coming!
That's right, folks! You heard it hear first (seems appropriate to mention this in the lettercol of the Flash), in August, the DC2 will bring you our first continuity-wide crossover mega-event, after which the universe will never be the same again!

Awesome job on this issue, Charlie! A very entertaining personal tale between the two Flashes. It was really nice to see Barry meet his hero. A very cool look at Jay's origins as well as his Rival.
Yep, too bad about the Crisis. It's going to be a biggie, and Flashes never fare well.

There's an official title but it remains to be seen because it contains a spoiler. Hints are already being dropped in some of our titles and will become more obvious as we go so be on the lookout! It should be a lot of fun so I hope you stick around for it.  And the guys are right. These big crossovers never bode well for certain characters... |

I think the biggest criticism of COIE, and to a lesser extent, IC, is that they are vehicles to retroactively adjust a cluttered continuity. This is absolutely not the purpose of the IXE. Our impending crisis is all about development, story and characterization--- I promise no retcons (nor will the significant events of the IXE ever be retconned out of existence). But, man, this things is gonna be gnarly...! |

Yep, since this Crisis has been planned all along then this is what each title has been working toward since Day One. The term "crisis" wasn't really agreed on until a few months in though and solely because we thought that a story and crossover of this magnitude couldn't really be called anything else.
There will be changes that come after the IXE but everything will be for the better.
Well, except for the characters that die.
