I personally loved this issue. The rapid stream of thought inner monologue just worked for me, and I can see it becoming something that this book is known for. It's really interesting for me to edit both of Kevin's DC2 books, and doubly interesting to see them be released on the same day, merely because of the differences he pours into each title. Sometimes I'm surprised that both these fantastic books are written by the same guy, there's just so much going on in each of them that makes them must reads on this site!
Lots of mysteries are thrown up today, and instead of dragging one on for issues, you throw the answer of the cliffhanger questions from last issue into our face! Who is the mysterious speedster? Who is "Thawne"? The answers, whilst obvious (look at that bloody cover! Aha! Nice work, Carlos!), are brilliantly executed, and create tension and suspense for #26.
I'll be there!
...
I have no choice!

I liked it. Didn't love it, though. Good characterization, a little Wally West-y, but ok. Loved seeing Max Mercury and hearing about Johnny Quick, even if It wasn't the way someone would expect.
I'll be back next month. Loved the "NEXT ISSUE:".

Okay, I am officially impressed.
I don't know the Flash mythos as well as some, but I know Quicksilver, or as I know him Max Mercury, and the Thawnes.
This is very, very interesting.

I have to agree that this had a very Wally West feel to it, and was the only thing that brought it down to a four star, for me. The plot, the way the story was told, all of this was done exceptionally well. I love the Thawne twist and the fact that one of my favorite villains is lurking out there.
Exceptional use of Mercury and crew. Jay seemed a tad off to me, but nothing I could put my finger on.
But THAT TWIST!!! I love stuff like that. You've got me wanting another issue... now! Great, great job, and a very well done cover.

Thanks a lot, Charlie. I think to some extent, the Flash I've most enjoyed from the actual DC has always been a lot more personal and on the nose than most comics are (With the exception of, say, Spider-Man) which is something I've tried to bring across with the different tone here, whereas New Gods requires that more thundering Wagnerian approach! If it's Wally West-y then that's unsurprising- my all-time favourite Flash comics have been the Johns and Waid runs, and Wally's been Flash for my entire life! Obviously, it's a problem, but I've had considerable experience of Barry and hopefully I'll be able to get rid of the Wally influence! Thanks for the feedback! Thanks! And while I can't comment on any names Quicksilver may or may not adopt in the next few issues, I'm glad you enjoyed him making his second first DC2 appearance! Ouch- again, see above about Wally, a problem I'll work on. Thanks for the praise though- and BIG things afoot for the Thawnes, which means BIG things for our favourite speedster! Thus far it's been standard DC continuity making it's DC2 debut, but things aren't so simple with some stuff coming up! Hmm, that's probably me trying to find a voice for him. Jay is a tricky character in that he can't sound as fully modern and up to date as, say, Wally or Barry, but he shouldn't sound like some old relic either, so I'm trying to find a different path. Heh, I have to admit, I'm a huge fan of twist cliffhangers. After all, I figure, best to have insurance to force the reader to come back. As for the cover- I know! I hadn't seen it until it come out but I gotta say, it really delivers the promise of the issue! You can feel the kinetic energy bursting out of them! Thanks for the kind words, all- and the constructive criticism is especially appreciated!
