Fantastic! Max Mercury has never been one of my favourite characters, because I was never a reader of Mark Waid's Flash or the Impulse ongoing. Here, he's given a brilliant chance to shine, and Kevin, the rationalizing of his new identity was a fun little ditty to read. Loved the final moments, loved the opening, and I loved the in-between. Your first person narrative from the POV of Barry is always a fun read, and I find myself loving editing this book because you're improving with each and every issue I have to look at. Thanks for writing this, Feen, I'll be back when you send me then ext issue

What an incredible read. I thought the Max story was extremely well written and very believable. I loved the nods and small little tie ins with a certain other book.
It's also nice to see the Rogue's are still out there and ready to cause more trouble.
Undoubtably my favorite issue by Kevin, to date. You made me feel for each one of these characters (Max especially). Hats off!

Here, he's given a brilliant chance to shine, and Kevin, the rationalizing of his new identity was a fun little ditty to read. Charlie, I'm shocked! For me, Mark Waid defined the Flash- not just in the character of Wally West, but also through his additions to the Flash Family and his work on the Speed Force, so if there's anyone I'm trying to channel in my Flash, it's a fusion of his stuff and the Johns run. For the rationalising of the identity- well, I actually can't claim credit for how that played out, that goes to the person who deserves extra special credit for giving me the tools to play with this issue- the writer of that certain book Brian mentioned! Thanks again for the words of praise, Charlie. I do think I have a better grasp now on Barry and his narration than I had only a few issues ago, and hopefully I'll have it nailed in time for the Extra Big Flash Epic that's just around the corner! Thanks, Brian, I'm glad this issue got a positive response- and I cannot praise the writer of that other book enough for support along every step of the journey as Max is brought into the modern DC2- particularly for ensuring everything synched up alright and keeping my continuity straight! Oh, believe me, the Rogues are a MASSIVE part of the book moving forwards- I moved the main group out of play in my first issue but you know they'll be back, when it's least convenient. And Trickster, Weather Wizard and another wild card Rogue who'll be coming back next issue will be causing colossal problems for Barry Allen in the months to come. And more thanks for the kind words- Max will, of course, be a part of the book moving forwards (Though he'll be in the background for a while- it's Barry's turn to have the spotlight back!), as will Johnny, Jay and Wally! At least, they will be for now, but issue 30's nearly here and big, BIG events are just around the corner!

I already knew about the twist in Quicksilver/Max's tale due to reading certain....other posts, but even so this sort of continuity makes me stand up and cheer in it's own right. What particular bit of past storytelling it ties into makes it all the sweeter! Five stars!

LOVED this issue...really captured the Flash Family Feeling, that (as already mentioned) really harkened back to the Mark Waid run. A great job was done here showing the difficulty that Mr. Mercury would have coming into a new time, surrounded by new people.
I also loved the depiction of Wally in this issue, as the overactive teen, half bugging, half engaging Max. I would love to see him take a more active role in the book, seeing as how he's Barry's sidekick. All in all, a great issue, hopefully leading to adventures from our favorite fleet-footed family! (Alliteration aside...)

Dan's favourite character outside of Green Lantern? The Flash. Little known fact, that. Kevin, if you ever leave the book, Dan will be on it like a jack rabbit. Or if you get asked by a suspicious American to come into an alley, it's probably him going to murder you.
Just sayin'.

I already knew about the twist in Quicksilver/Max's tale due to reading certain....other posts, but even so this sort of continuity makes me stand up and cheer in it's own right. What particular bit of past storytelling it ties into makes it all the sweeter! Five stars! If you like the continuity, I'm not the one you should be thanking- it's all Susan! But thanks for the words of praise, Jay. As I mentioned above, my all time favourite Flash will forever remain both the Mark Waid run and the Geoff Johns run- so I'm trying to bring the best of both here. That means LOTS of Flash Family- this was just the beginning from that respect!- and LOTS of Rogues- you'll see that soon enough! I'll always have a special place for Wally in my head because he's the Flash I knew best when I was younger- and Jay and I have discussed plans for him, so Teen Titans and Flash will be synching up in that regard. But for both Wally and the Flash Family, they'll be taking a little bit of a back seat as the big story starting in #30 places the spotlight very firmly on Barry himself- but the aftereffects will ripple out to EVERYONE the Flash knows! Gratuitous self-promotion aside, thanks for the feedback, Daniel- and thanks everyone for the brilliant reception to the issue! That's a big "If", Charlie. :)I have a lot of plans for a while, I'm afraid! Wait, hang on- if I take HIM down, do I get to write Green Lantern? Cos in that case, Bring it on!

Well, since my name and sly references to "that other book" keep getting bandied about, I reckon it's time I speak up.
While I won't lay out the full details in the public forums (let me have my eccentricities, folks), I will admit that, yes indeed, Max Merxcury's origins reach all the way back to WWQ, and the events that he was referring to in this issue will someday be revealed...but for now, let's focus on the present, shall we?
Kevin's been an absolute joy to work with, taking what I've already laid down and weaving it into his work as if we'd planned it this way all along. Yeah, I chipped in an idea or two, but 99.9% of this story is all Kevin, and I don't want anybody thinking different on that. The real fun, however, is just sitting back and reading what he's come up with. Every time another issue comes out, I gulp it down with relish -- I'm just as eager to see where this is going as everyone else is!
I am also eager to see the Daniel/Kevin super-fight. The big question is: Do they get to use their character's respective superpowers during the bout? ;D
