Due to the incessant-- and I mean incessant, dammit Pat!-- demands of a certain someone, here's the first issue in a new era of The Flash, from writer Pat Owen! Perhaps the two are connected... Please, tell us what you think!

Please, tell us what you think! I don't know if there's a connection, but I get the strange feeling that whoever demanded you to post the issue is insanely attractive ;D

The Flash is back. I'm loving seeing some titles that have been on a sort of short-hiatus (Flash being one, and 'Tec in the wake of The Return being another) come back guns blazing, and this was no exception. Pat's done a great thing and not tried to reinvent the wheel here, and he's stayed true to my favourite Flash writer's work-- Kevin Feeney's. It's all well and good being new on a title, but there's always that chance you might just trash all that's come before without appreciating it, without recognising what inspired the current situation, and Pat does so well invigorating the concept that fell to the wayside with Kevin's abrupt departure. Pat could have shrugged and done his own thing, but everything here trails out from the brilliance that was Legacy of the Lightning, and it's at that same level of skill and plotting that it was before. Anyway, I'm rambling. Great stuff, Pat. Really great. You're doing some of your best work here, and the transition is all but seamless. Dody Eka's cover is a delight, you can really feel the rage coming off those protesters, and I can't wait to receive your next issue... whenever that is

Dody Eka's cover is a delight, you can really feel the rage coming off those protesters, and I can't wait to receive your next issue... whenever that is Yeah, before I wrote this issue, I really re-read Legacy of the Lightning and the last few issues of Kevin's run very carefully to make sure I had all the details in my head. Like you said, I could've just gone off and done my own thing but I have way too much love and respect for Kevin's Flash stories to do that and I was really sad to see Kevin not be able to write it anymore with all of the plots that had just begun to take off after the absolutely fantastic 'Legacy of the Lightning'. So after re-reading through his stuff, I asked myself how do I think the story would have unfolded. So I tried to make it an easy transition from what Kevin did and continue the plots that he started(Such as the future meeting that was mentioned in Kevin's run between Wolfe and the older speedsters, the aftermath of losing Carrie, and Barry's home being against him to name a few) while also adding my own elements. I hope you'll like what's coming up and next issue(which I'll be sending to you probably today, Charlie) I got to write a character that is now a favorite of mine after writing him. I agree that Dody's cover was absolutely awesome! Hit it out of the park IMO. Thanks for reading and editing Charlie and I'm glad you liked it!

All that being said, next issue you're going to be standing alone-- I'm going to avoid drawing any comparisons to Kevin in regards to your writing. I think your work has been so unbelievably strong recently, that you should be being compared to what you've done before, and the promise of what you can achieve in future issues! I'm psyched! ...and concerned
