This was an amazing #0... #1... This was awesome, whatever it was! I loved the introduction of Eddie Fyers and the hints about Mia, and Roy... Where's he going? I enjoyed the "I'm nothing like him!" retort, but I always think that when someone brings up the Batman comparison, it's always so truthful. Roy wasn't overreacting, in fact, he was under reacting! Green Arrow just cut a guy's face open! Even Batman doesn't do that! I like the fact that Ollie is on edge, and the amazing dream sequence was an example of that. And the Kobra plot intrigues me, and the opening scene intrigued me, as I wanted immediately to know who the hooded figure was.
Bravo, Brian. This is your baby, and I cannot wait to see where you go with it!

I know how long Brian has been looking forward to doing this series, and that enthusiam really shows in this first issue. This was a lot of fun to read, as Ollie has become such a familiar and relatable character in Brian's capable hands. And right out of the gate, there's a killer of a story developing (what is up with Kobra?!?)!
I loved the first escapade; it was the kind of thing I really enjoy about Green Arrow, the joie de vivre he exudes about crime fighting. And while I'm not a big fan of cameos, Roy's appearance in this issue felt natural. This was what a cameo should be: a walk-on that says something about the main character, and not a bit of grandstanding to show how cool Nightwing is (or Steel, or Batman, or whomever). But who is Roy going off to work for? Is it in the latest issue of Teen Titans (which I haven't gotten to yet), or have a missed something.
Ollie's dream--- he's messed up about Vegas! See what happens in a Mature Audiences title! Some hardcore stuff, though, and it seems like he'll be dealing with the consequences of leading the New Outsiders for a while to come.
Lastly, I just wanted to ask if Eddie Fyers' comment about geckos and cavemen intentionally referenced my favorite ad campaign for insurance--- or was that happy coincidence?
Either way, five stars, Brian! A highly anticipated debut that lived up to my expectations!

I loved the introduction of Eddie Fyers and the hints about Mia, and Roy... Where's he going? I'm glad you recognized Eddie. I know some people probably aren't sure who he is, but he was a major character during the Green Arrow series back in the 90's, right before he died, and I've always loved that character. As for Roy, well, you'll have to look elsewhere. I've always thought there were a lot more similiarities between the two then either of them want to admit. Thanks, it was my favorite scene to write because I wanted to show the readers just how messed up Ollie is feeling at the moment, how on edge he really is. And how that is making him a bit rougher around the edges. Well, I hope you like where it goes, but in all honesty, it was David who mentioned the idea of Korbra to me way way back, and I fell in love with the idea. Thank you sir. I just hope I don't disappoint.

This was a lot of fun to read, as Ollie has become such a familiar and relatable character in Brian's capable hands. And right out of the gate, there's a killer of a story developing (what is up with Kobra?!?)! Thanks David, those are very kind words, and it's never been a secret that GA is my favorite character. A good way of saying it. He does have his own flare and I'm glad that came across. As for cameo's, any big name cameo's will only happen if it makes sense and, as you said, it enhances the main character. I'm hoping to have some cameo's and probably a cross-over or two, but this is Ollie's book, and it's going to stay that way. Although I also plan on building up a list of secondary characters (some old, some new) that I hope will enhance the story as well. Oh, he's definately going somewhere. But I've been sworn to secrecy. One of the things that makes Ollie so special to me is that he is such complex person, if you really study him. He does his best, and he is one of the goodguys, no doubt about it, but his emotions always get the best of him, and because of that, sometimes things just go wrong. That's what happened with The New Outsiders and something that he is going to have to deal with. That was intentional, and kudos for catching it. I love those commercials myself. And it fits Eddie's sense of humor. Thank you Sir! I truly hope this series will keep everyone entertained for a while. GA has a huge amount of his own mytho's and you're going to see things show up from almost every decade that he's been around.

Well, there's absolutely no question what title is near and dear to your heart, because it just dripped from each word of this issue. Very well done, setting things up extremely well, with a great foe (big fan of Kobra ) and nice introduction of the important figures in Ollie's life. References to other events in the universe were nicely handled without making the reader feel like an idiot for not knowing where the references might come from, and I'm curious to see where you're headed with Eddie, because I like him. Another one of those guys from the past that I'm glad to see get used. I'm not so sure I'm hot on the idea of his being Mia's dad...but eh, that's hardly a quibble after such a great story. Only other quibble is the zero issue thing again. yeah, yeah, you people like them, but there was just NO reason for this to be zero. It was the first issue...what's wrong with 1? I like "First Issues" and I like those first issues to read "#1". Guess I'm just an old-time traditionalist. Zero issues, to me, speak of prologue stories, or fill in the missing information tales, or some such separate from the main thrust of where a series takes off from. Ah well. Otherwise, a very good story, and I look forward to issue 2. Yeah. you heard me. And great cover! I love Ramon's art...I think he might be might favorite...maybe second favorite...close fight between the top two for me. Great cover...simple, dynamic, gets the character across nicely. Take care Don

The cover wasn't up yet when I read the issue and left my feedback, so I didn't get a chance to say--- Best Cover of the Week! Terrific job, Ramon! You are a master of the superhero pic!

Ollie has always been my favorite for many years. Also glad you like the Kobra angle. Another fan of Eddie's!!! I can't promise that he is going to be the full DC Eddie, but he is a secondary character that I respect and appreciate and will do my best to treat him right. As for the fact that he is the father of Mia, well, I like to throw, what I call, some DC2 twists around, and I hope I can win you over with it. Honestly, I went with the #0 because it was how we started the sight and I wanted to stay with that tradition, so I guess you could call me a tradionalist of sorts. And I, Sir, look forward your input.

And I now want to thank Mark for being such a great Editor and a great friend! The man is awesome and I can't thank him enough for constently making me look good. Also a very special thank you to Ramon for taking time out of his busy schedule for doing the cover for the first issue! Or the zero issue! I knew when I got the go ahead for this title that I wanted the head of art department to kick off the covers, and he very graciously accepted. Thank you Ramon, thank you very much. The cover was masterful, as they always are with you.

I have no problem with Zero issues.
Yes, this was the story of a hero getting back to buisness, and good for him. I see that Vegas still haunts him; how could it not? Of course, some of that stuff wasn't his fault, and some of it was at least as much the fault of the other people involved. Except Helena, of course. That's Squealer's fault. And also another story.
The reason Ollie gets so tense about the Batman comparisons I think is not because they're similar--because they are--but because of their motivations. Ollie is a social crusader, born of that era; Bruce is a crusader of law and order. It's the why that puts them at odds, rather than the how or what. And that's the part that really gets under Ollie's skin, I think.
I recognize Eddie! I remember Eddie. I didn't know they killed him, but sadly I'm not surprised. I KNOW you'll do better with him.
Mia! Yeah!!!!!! Awesome!!!
As for the geckos and the cavemen, any ad campaign is funny.....until they've run their course. Which they have. *Borrows Ollie's bow to shoot a certain bunny. And looks around suspiciously for anyone who mentions saving money on their car insurance.*
And yes, I know where Roy's going.....heheh....
Five Stars.

Green Arrow is home and couldn't be in better hands. This has been a long time coming and was well worth the wait. Oliver Queen is almost my favorite character in the DCU (second only to Wally West) and I couldn't be happier to see his DC2 monthly tales being penned by you Brian. Some thoughts on the first issue: The opening scene was well done and surprising. I was like 'Freaking' Cobra in Green Arrow? ? Unexpected to say the least but could be pretty cool! Nice to see Roy show up here. You sure got people curious as to what his new 'job' is. I thought all the clues were there. And then.... EDDIE FRYERS! He is so cool! I have loved him since his first appearance in the Long Bow Hunters mini. I was very pleased to see him make his second appearance here in the DC2U! Of course his first appearance was in....well I guess its a secret huh? Nothing new there! Ollie's dream was freaky. I think maybe the guy has issues with guilt but maybe I was reading too much into it. I liked how you mentioned all of the relevant DC2 events of late. Love the firm continuity there Brian. It makes everything relevant and as a reader you feel like you are on the inside of a bigger and richer world. Nice cliffhanger surprise from daddy Eddie. Nice twist indeed. If the story wasn't a five star effort to begin with the cover makes it so twice over! Ramon delivered big time here and perhaps put out my favorite cover of his ever. Great job sirs. Thanks for adding another must read title to the DC2 Brian.

Excellent, excellent stuff. After 'growing up' with Ollie in the New Outsiders, it's very interesting to see what our favorite billionaire archer will do when left to his own devices, and the results are very much fun.
So Roy seems to be going somewhere, I just seem to be the only one here who missed the subtle hint of what. However, i'm sure it'll be interesting.
Do more sutff like this! It's good!

We always carry our history and our mistakes with us, some carry them deep inside and some carry them on their sleeves. Ollie does a bit of both. Great analysis Jay! I think you've got something there! They didn't kill Eddie? He was just seen in Chuck Dixon's Conner Hawke mini-series. Conner Hawke... hmmm.... Glad it made you happy! Thank you, Sir!

Green Arrow is home and couldn't be in better hands. This has been a long time coming and was well worth the wait. It has felt like a long time coming. LOL! And just a tad of begging. Of course I'm now flying cross-country and ocean to wash Mark and David's cars every other weekend. Thank you. I'm thrilled to be doing it... and Wally West is in my top five as well. Again, gotta thank David for that idea. Kobra is going to be a major pain in the but for Ollie in Star City for some time to come... Well it should be, for those we have reading those wonderful books that don't seem to get the readership they deserve. Nothing has made me happier then the great reaction about Eddie. I thought I was alone in loving this guy. yeah, you're reading way too much into it. I'm glad that was enjoyed as well. It was a part that made me a bit nervous to do, but I love continuity and it's nice to be reminded of it, and let's face it... DC2 has some great continuity going into it's third year. I really wanted to put a DC2 twist on both characters and as things unfold, I hope it all makes sense and people like it. Ramon's cover is brilliant. I'm using it as my wallpaper right now. Just paying you back for doing the same thing to me with Global Guardians!

Ah, Green Arrow, I love Green Arrow. I got into him in the 90s about the time he died and Connor took over. This was the series I originally thought about doing here at DC2, but didn't because of his role in the New Outsiders. I had just completed the entire Green Arrow vol2 series (with Mike Grell and Chuck Dixon) as well as most of Vol3 in a combination of comics and TPBs and was brimming with ideas.
Starlord, you did a fabulous job. I loved almost all of it. I'm glad Eddie's here in DC2. I'm a big fan of him and thought he was so bad ass when he was going around with Connor kicking the crap out of people.
The only thing im hesitant about is the Eddie being Mia's dad thing. My judgement might be biased as i really like their DCU versions, I'm just worried that this might turn Eddie into some creepy child molester or take away Mia's traumatic past which I feel fuels her desire to be a crime fighter. I'll reserve judgement on it until i see where it goes, but I'm sure you'll find some sort of middle ground that will do them justice.
I hope my boy Connor Hawke has some sort of role in the future, but I hope we don't go and change his ethnicity like DC, Kevin Smith and Phil Hester did (I'll never forgive them for it). I'm looking foward to seeing where this is going; is it going to be more along the lines of the Grell Era, the newer one or a mixture of both.
Can't wait.

I liked the Connor series as well and it was good to see Eddie back again. I'm hoping to and much more will be explained next issue. Promise. Oh I think he may end up here eventually, but keep your eyes out elsewhere. You never know where he may pop up. As for his ethnicity, yes, if and when he does show up, he'll be the character he was originally created as. As for what era I'm going for... everything. A mixture of Grell and silver age and now and everything in between. Keep your fingers crossed cause this could be the biggest bomb in DC2 history. Thanks for reading and responding!

Suuuuurrrrreeeee you do. Hey so here's a question for you to get over the guilt fest and back on track: Any chance we will see Shado or Count Vertigo in this series? Or is it that something you don't want to share at this time?

Hey so here's a question for you to get over the guilt fest and back on track: Any chance we will see Shado or Count Vertigo in this series? Or is it that something you don't want to share at this time? Good question and I'm surprised that nobody else had asked that yet. The answer to the Count is that I have to speak with certain people who are also working on this character, I believe, but I would really like to bring him in for a small arc that would continue where his All Star Comics appearance left off. Tie that continuity together a bit more, but we'll see what the other person says first. As for Shado, I can only say that I am planning on bringing in many characters from Ollie's very rich history. So you never know. [/quote]
