All of the stories were good, but Killer Croc and Guy/Lobo take the cake.
Is Mad Mod out of play, then?
Oh and Charlie, I will try to have a story for HOM IV.

Thanks for the props Arcalian! The Killer Croc story was a bit of a pain to get out there. I was sick, and busy working all week so I pretty much had to write the story in about four hours. Glad you liked it.

Is Mad Mod out of play, then? Only until some writer decides to use him again, by which time he'll have hopefully woken up from his bad dream and be madder and modder than ever.

Finally found time to read this (was the Nightmare Weavers title a nod to that greatest of horror dreamweavers, Garth Marenghi?).
Liked all the stories; the New Gods one was a good read although I wasn't sure that it really had anything to do with horror; the Killer Croc one was great but, not knowing a lot about the character, I didn't quite get the ending so probably didn't appreciate the story as much as I should have done; the Deadman and Phantom Stranger tale was interesting - along with the Guy/Lobo story it was my favourite story of the issue - and I liked the Deadman/Phantom dynamic along with the Halloween-centricness of it all; thought the Constantine story was good fun although I found it hard to believe a man's pub would allow that on its jukebox (although I guess it's a soft southern pub, rather than the hard northern ones I frequent), but then again I found it hard to believe that the denizens only knew one £$%^ing swearword; the Guy/Lobo story was terrific fun and a great way to round off the issue.

Mark, I think you'll find they were using both £$%^ and £$%^, and on occasion, mixed it up with a bit of £$%^. (Oh, Darkplace, how I miss you so ) I can't wait to post my thoughts on this issue, I'm really proud of the assortment we've had this year

Well, they could have gone with █████ and █████, spattered with █████████████.
However, we all know what happened with All-star █████ Batman and Robin!

Enjoyed them all. I like these collections when we get to see so many of the writers showing off their talent in a theme book.

Kevin Feeney at last gets to use the Black Racer, and boy is it thrilling! Not your normal horror story, more of a suspense one, but this kept me on the edge of my seat as I read! I loved the feeling of pervading dread throughout this, and the ending was fantastic, but again, foreboding… the chase scenes were cinematic, I was terrified for Fastbak, but if he can out run death… what can he not do?
Mark Bowers never ceases to amaze me. It took a while for me to get into his stuff, but when Teen Titans clicked with me, it clicked with me hard, and I was gripped throughout his run, right till the very beautiful end. This story, whilst not full of famous a-listers, and in fact full of characters that have been thrown into limbo (literally?), was wonderful. The Inferior Five were spot on, and Mad Mod was terrific. More in the vein of The Frighteners than Friday the 13th, but still brilliant.
Ah, Mike Hewison, always great to see work from you, and even better as this story ties into our Detective Comics run down the line! Killer Croc was like The Shape himself, and the reaction he has on people was what really made this for me. Set firmly in continuity, a nice little prologue to what is coming to us in the future, and that ending? A shiver went down my spine. Very nice.
Dan Johnson! Long time see, and great to see you back using characters you’ve been known for before. This was a very interesting story, very Saw-esque, and Deadman was used to great effect, as was The Phantom Stranger. These two play off each other wonderfully, and you bought their characters out in such a strong way. The ending was a bit easy, but I can forgive it for such an enthralling read throughout.
I think I was ok…
Brian Burchette…! Oh, this was wonderful. I love Guy Gardner right now in the DCU!proper, and this encapsulated his character wonderfully, and the banter between him and his ring was brilliant! Lobo was awesome, and you didn’t overplay him as it is easy to do, and the zombie threat, and the reasons behind it were really interesting. A brilliant way to end the anthology, and it’s the “out there” stuff like this that reminds me why you’re one of, if not the, best writer on this site.

Speaking as the guy who edited your Hellblazer tale Charlie, I have to say that it was well done. Seriously though Charlie, you handled him perfectly; and the sheer randomness of what happened in the story, gave it a genuine Hellblazer feel. Of course, it had to be rushed considering the nature of the anthology we all worked so hard on to deliver this year, but it was great nonetheless. Everyone else, great work. This was a great project to work on, and I'm glad everything went off without any problems. (Although I might have caused Charlie some unnecessary stress, but that's one of my favourite hobbies. Mess with the British kid. )
