I thought that some of the dialogue was a bit stiff, and all the political intrigue felt like it would have been suited to appear in Suicide Squad instead of this book, but apart from that it progressed this epic story onward once more, but I made the mistake of heading to this book first and not reading Detective before! Nevermind though, I'll get to that later, but I just had to read the third installement of this miniseries! It's really heating up, and that ending, reminiscent of so many visceral events in history, was one that'll stay with me till next week!!! Then I'll forget about it and squee about how great Brian's finale is.

It saddens me that the Titans actually fought the League, or at least some of them did; didn't know that was gonna happen.
Was happy to see Cheshire though!
Things are heating up and John is on the mark as always.

You will have to let me know where so I can note in the future what worked and what didn't. Of course the exchange between Faraday was meant to appear a little off for reason's explained by Sarge Steel afterward. If it was somewhere else, sorry. I am a bit confused at the 'political intrigue out of place here' comment. This is the Justice League versus America and the shadowy forces hiding behind the U.S. government is a major plot point that drives the story forward. Without the political intrigue this story would be completely different I believe. With all that said, thanks for reading and replying. Following you and Ellen was extremely challenging. I have a feeling that the Titans involvement will be fleshed out next week in their title. Not sure why it saddens you though? Cheshire was fun and I imagine she will pop up again at some point because of her actions in this issue. Thanks Jay. I have to say that without the help of Jay, Brian, and Mark I would not have been able to do this issue. A big thanks to each and every one of them!

You have no idea how happy I am to see Scandal Savage. She's the heart and soul of the Secret Six and now she's brought into DC2 continuity as a Queen of Checkmate. It's just great.
A really good storyline that makes Checkmate even better, by revealing it to be the Secret Society of Super Villains, with two of my favorite villains (Sinestro and Grundy). I assumed they were all Bat-Villains exclusively. I saw Riddler and Poison Ivy coming. I expected Catwoman, but got Cheshire (An acceptable substitution). In the end, this issue is pleasantly surprising and sets up the final chapter of the Crisis very well.

The Titans involvement will indeed get fleshed out in next week's TT issue. Sorry that that bit saddened you, Jay, but the Titans' reasons for fighting the Justice League (and it was by no means all of the Titans) will be explained there.

I really liked this, as a new reader, this was simple enough to follow, and I really like the portrayal of Batman. I can't wait to read the next one!

Scandal Savage is a favorite of mine in a big way. She made her DC2 debut in Suicide Squad Annual #1 in a brief role before appearing here. Depending on what happens before this story is over she may be popping up again real soon. A lot of the twists involving the characters you mentioned above must be credited to the very talented DC2 staff that worked together to plot this story out from beginning to end. If you think Checkmate is better here wait till you see what happens after this. Again, I wish I could say more but there is so much cool stuff left to happen in this story still. Thanks for checking out the issue here and taking the time to give your thoughts. It means a lot. That is fantastic to hear because every issue could always be someones first so welcome aboard. I am known to throw a lot of stuff out there and use way too many characters. The credit here must go to the editors, especially Mark who always has a way of seeing things from a readers point of view and knows when to rope a writer in when they are out of control! Glad you liked Batman here because frankly the guy scares the hell out of me so I avoid writing him as much as possible. I encourage you to poke around the site more because you will quickly find that the people, stories, and art are the best on the net (maybe anywhere), period.

This is the Justice League versus America and the shadowy forces hiding behind the U.S. government is a major plot point that drives the story forward. Without the political intrigue this story would be completely different I believe. Yeah I realise that I wasn't very clear. I don't know, for me, it just seemed a bit out of place after my own and Ellen's issue. I actually think, with hindsight to my comments, that it works perfectly, layering on my plot to what could appear to be a perfectly normal, average, Justice League story. I enjoy the the "World's Greatest Heroes" against a true "superpower" in the strictest sense, and it's amazing to watch America's descent into facism! Again, that final image was simply beautiful. Well done John.,

Yeah...
Charlie, Ellen and now John have weaved a tale that will be remembered by me for a long time..
The last scene is stunning...
Well done. I am unsure about some of the political dialogue, but this definitely ranks high on the list for must reads for me...
Well done, John..
Good job overall so far guys.

Another terrific issue! I am really impressed with the quality of this project so far, and how well it has come together. This issue was no exception.
The skullguggery of Checkmate and the Society, which was really the heart of this issue, is for the first time exposed! There's more going on in this event than a superhero-slugfest (though there is some of that, too), and I for one really enjoyed that aspect of the issue. no one quite does that like John Elbe.
If nothing else, this issue sets the stage nicely for the new Checkmate title (which John has been drooling to write since before the first year's crisis!), and builds up for a big ending where everyone and everything seems to be rushing towards a head.
I was surprised at the identity of Star-Tsar (that guys gets around!), and of Batman's level of infiltration in Checkmate. Good stuff with Black Canary and WW, too--- I could see them sitting down over a cup of tea and reminiscing about their Moms when this is over!
Great issue, great cover!
Looking forward to part 4 next week!

Even though I had an advanced peak at this, I have to admit that I was more then impressed with how John handled this issue. I've said it a thousand times, when it comes to the political scheming's and intrigue, nobody does it better then our own John Elbe. Great stuff sir. and thank you so very much for being a part of this event! also have to say that this cover was just as awesome as the rest of them! Luthor never looked so good! or is that bad?

Just read all three issues thus far and most of th tie-ins. Great work to all involved. This is every bit as good (if not better) than last years. Pat yourselves on the back sirs and ma'ams. I'd also like to shamelessly add that the Max Lord/JL relationship started going south way back in Gotham: City of the Dead, so check it out if you haven't.

Hey, whatever happened to the Shazam! tie-in to this event...? I see that it's no longer on the calendar ...

Hey, whatever happened to the Shazam! tie-in to this event...? I see that it's no longer on the calendar ... Well, strictly speaking, it never actually made it as far as the calendar, since the intended writer sadly went missing. Hopefully, when Shazam! does return (if anybody out there is interested in writing it, please PM me), then the cover produced for the crossover issue can be used.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. It really means a lot. I acutually sat down and read this story from beginning to end after having some time away from it.
Though I am still very pleased at how it turned out, I can am even more impressed with the added in scenes by the talented people behind this entire event. The final scene (which I can't take credit for) was powerful and really drove the whole thing home! Thanks to everyone who added to this issue and made it better then I ever could alone!
Also the cover was super cool like the others before it but stands on its own as a powerful image! Borize and Ramon do it again.

Wow, this was really excellent writing! Those final moments between Batman and Luthor were absolutely epic, and those final moments with Starman really tugged at the old heartstrings.
The Red Tornado sneaking a kiss from Batgirl seemed kind of corny, but it is a comic book so whatever. Five stars!

I'm enjoying this series as well. I've finally had some time to catch up on the last few weeks of books released and this was a solid read with dead on characteristics.
I liked the idea that the two Queens in Checkmate are behind the problems there. As I'm often reminded by my wife... the female is the dangerous one of the species.

Glad you've been enjoying the series as well. So you liked the two Queens idea huh? I sure hope that the situation with the Queens doesn't come back and bite Faraday or Steel on the ass. And speaking from experience behind every King is a Queen whether he cares to admit it or not. Very dangerous indeed.
