Hooty the mother$%^&ing Owl. Now that is how you pull off a guest appearance, Dave. A tight issue, a win/lose end for our heroes but an enjoyable journey none the less. As with myself, there were a few spelling mistakes here and there, noticeable but not too distracting ("...OUT FUHRER!") and a nice end to a poignant little story. Well, I say little, because more than the threat of the Fourth Reich, I liked the angle with the mourning of a friend who died for another, a story with more emotional resonance than the one-two punch of THE RETURN OF THE NAZIS! something we've seen in popular culture galore and in Geoff John's recent JSA relaunch.
Edit: Oh! One more thing... You've got, in the final scene, dialogue being translated from German, and you still use the word "Götterdämmerung", which brought me out of the devilish speech at the last moment. A little thing, but disconcerting none the less!

For me, the distraction was the word "Herrenvolk". I know what the second part means, but not the first part, so it constantly puts me in mind of Brandon. ;D
Read #1 and 2 back-to-back, and it was a great read! This is some truly scary stuff going on, especially the image of Zyklon ghosting over the wedding crowd like that. Judging by his comment later on, I take it he's a descendant of the Mist?
I still don't follow JSA in the DCU proper, but I love reading it here! Keep up the good work!

Hooty the mother$%^&ing Owl. Now that is how you pull off a guest appearance, Dave. LOL! I was worried that it would come across as kind of deus ex machina--- though I did set it up last issue! Glad it worked for you . Not much of a victory at all--- but maybe something good (or important) will come of it. Ouch! Blame my editor, the slacker...! Well, I wasn't exactly going for emotional resonance with the "Return of the Nazis" but I get your point---and by the end of the larger "New Axis of Evil" epic, I hope you will see that it is bigger and deeper than simply another "Return of the Nazis" story. Who said they were speaking German? You were disconcerted by your own assumption ; they (including the mysterious Fuhrer) were speaking English--- after all, Von Bach is American, Baroness Blitzkreig is Italian, Zyklon (surprised you didn't comment on his identity ) is Canadian... In fact, I think it's important to differentiate Nazism as a necessarily German phenomenon at this point (thus the multi-ethnic composition of the Fourth Reich). Now I know it's impossible (nor is it desirable) to divorce it from Teutonic trappings, but my wife is of German descent and if I pick on the noble German people by characterizing them as villains, I may be sleeping on the couch! Thanks for reading, Charlie, and for the feedback!

For me, the distraction was the word "Herrenvolk". I know what the second part means, but not the first part, so it constantly puts me in mind of Brandon. ;D Ha! The funny thing is, I didn't see it until just recently myself, and now that's all I see. Actually, this story was always supposed to be one issue, read in one sitting (length dictated splitting it in two), so I'm glad you had that experience, and that you enjoyed it! As for Zyklon: the image you described is the one that came to me first for this story, and everything else was written to get to it. And while I didn't exactly make it explicit, it's no spoiler to admit he isn't a descendant of, he is (or rather was) the Mist! Thanks a lot, Susie! I really appreciate the feedback! Stop back next issue when we return to our JSA/JLA of Earth Two crossover!

I didn't comment on the first issue because...I dunno, I had nothing. But it was good. So was this. The chemistry between Wesley and Katrina is great and the Nazis make for great villains. In the end, this was excursion had a bittersweet ending and was a fun espionage story. I like what's being set-up here. Really, really great stuff.
Now get back to the Earth-2 crossover!

A great conclusion. The ending was perfect! A great espionage story that kept me enthralled til the very end.
And the peaks into upcoming issues was terrific as well. Especially a certain "Uncle" that I've been waiting patiently to appear in the DC2!
5 stars gentlemen!

I didn't comment on the first issue because...I dunno, I had nothing. But it was good. Thanks, Scott! Glad you liked the somewhat unlikely pairing of Wes and Katrina, and the resurgant Nazi threat! I am certainly not a master of the espionage story, but this seemed like the best way to start an epic JSA story I have had in mind since Day One! LOL! Will do! Coming up next issue! Thanks for the feedback, sir!

A great conclusion. The ending was perfect! A great espionage story that kept me enthralled til the very end. Glad you liked it, Brian! Hope the fall of the Iron Major eased the sting of last issue...? That was a suggestion of Jamie's that I just thought was too tempting to pass up! And yes, I hope the images there provoke some anticipation--- including the coming of the Freedom Fighters (and their mysterious roster). Thanks for reading and for the feedback, sir!
