HOURMAN (II)
Secret File
(Image by John Cassady, used without permission, is a placeholder until permanent image is delivered by Jim Dufresne)
Secret Identity: Rick Tyler
First DC2 Appearance: Justice Society of America #1
Status: Hero
Base of Operations: JSA Museum, Manhattan; Tyler Chemical HQ, Greenwich, CT
Occupation: College student at NYU, intern at Tyler Chemical, baseball player and adventurer
HT: 6’4
WT: 210 lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown
Powers and Abilities: Rick Tyler is a normal human man with no superpowers, but when he takes a Miraclo pill, he gains superstrength, enhanced speed, increased durability (small arms fire will not pierce his skin), and sharpened senses.
History: The only son of Rex and Wendi Tyler, Rick grew up in a happy household with loving parents that always pushed him to be the best he could be. From the beginning, he knew of his father’s career as a ‘mystery man’ in the Golden Age, and thrilled to his exploits.
While his father often dreamed that Rick would follow in his footsteps as CEO of Tyler Chemical, Rick proved to be only an average student, uninspired by academia or business school. However, he excelled in sports, proving an excellent all-around athlete. He spent a summer at Ted Grant’s summer boxing academy, meeting and befriending a young David Knight, who was there under an alias; the two soon became confidantes and have remained close.
Rick went off to school in New York on a baseball scholarship, and dreamed of playing for the big leagues. Not an exceptional student, Rick was nevertheless a popular one, winning many friends with his easy, honest manner, and the election for student body president. Girls fell for him, though he only engaged in casual relationships, and always remained friends with them afterward. Rick drove himself hard at sport, acclaimed as a great all-around athlete. He preferred a healthy lifestyle, and never allowed himself junkfood or harmful substances. Subconsciously, he was trying to emulate his father, without the chemical benefits of Miraclo.
Now that Rick has discovered his true calling as a hero, he has never been happier or more fulfilled. He lives for that moment of endocrinal fury when the Miraclo first enters his system, and feels that nothing for him is impossible. He looks forward to any opportunity he can don the cowl of the Man of the Hour and fight for justice!
