POWER GIRL
Secret File
Secret Identity: Karen Starr
First DC2 Appearance: Powers, Inc. #1
Status: Hero
Base of Operations: JSA Museum, Manhattan
Occupation: Owner of StarrWare, computer software design company
HT: 5’9’’
WT: 130 lbs
Eyes: Blonde
Hair: Blue
Powers and Abilities: Power Girl seems to have all of the powers of a Kryptonian under a yellow sun, though it is not known how she developed these abilities. It is significant to note, however, that she has never shown a weakness to Kryptonite.
History: Karen Starr’s earliest memories are of the orphanage where she grew up. She was never adopted, but moved from foster home to foster home. Always an independent-minded person, she started manifesting her powers in early adolescence, which contributed to the difficulties she had with authorities. Never finding a true home, Karen’s rebellious streak continued until she went away to college, where she buckled down and excelled, earning a degree in software design and an MBA.
But it was after college that she had found her true calling. On a business trip to Metropolis, she witnessed Superman in action, which inspired her to create a superhero persona for herself and to try to make the world a better place.
Active primarily on the West Coast, Karen reluctantly joined the pre-fab superhero group Powers, Inc., but was frequently at odds with her sometimes mercenary and usually ridiculous teammates. While still working with them, she and teammate Commander Steel were approached by Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash, with an offer to join the Justice Society of America--- not so unusual for Steel, who was upholding his grandfather’s heroic legacy, but somewhat puzzling to Karen, whose own origins are still a mystery to her. With the meltdown of Powers, Inc., Power Girl was at last free to join the JSA, and has relocated to New York City, excited to be a member of the world’s oldest, most prestigious superhero team.
