Well by the request of a certain someone ... I was asked to read this issue and provide some feedback. First off, I always found it a bit odd that the New Gods are referred to as 'Gods'. I mean what did they create? And if they are gods...does that mean they created themselves? Just a few thoughts because the writer used 'god' a lot to refer to the various Fourth World characters. Not a bad thing just something that got me thinking. And while I am thinking, isn't the 'source' the only true Fourth World God? But I digress... After the first issue in April I was expecting big things for this series. Of course I still do but this issue was a bit of a let down. It was well written for the most part but it didn't grab me like the first issue. The battle with the Furies left me wanting...I don't know something a little more. Maybe I am prejudice because the Furies are my all-time favs. The other part of this issue that didn't sit well with me was the Miracle & Barda scenes with those other guys. The DEO duo just annoy the piss out of me but I won't dwell on that, but their scenes just seemed forced. And the whole trip revealed nothing at this point except for some weird mini-Vegas (which seemed somewhat intriguing but not touched on yet.) Plus why does Barda seem so uptight? I did like the idea that Scott was calculating an escape and Barda called him out on it. Overall the action was tight but I wanted the Furies to have a more active role in the story that moved the plot forward. I guess that wasn't thier role here. I am sorry that there wasn't more positive things to say here. I will certainly be back for more next issue. This one just didn't work for me. Of course I loved the cover so freakin' much! It makes me wish I would have had one for Suicide Squad #7 when the Furies showed up there during the Apokolips Imperative. Well done sirs.

I can assure you, this is something that will be very specifically addressed in the series itself. To my mind, the Fourth World characters have as much right to refer to themselves as Gods as Odin or Zeus or any other pantheon, and it will be made quite clear why when they deal with mortals- thus far they've only dealt with their fellow Gods. I am sorry you didn't enjoy it more. In a lot of ways, this issue was putting the pieces into place- and I also acknowledge, I'm not as big a fan of the Furies as some are. The Fury fight was never supposed to be a big, epic thing, but rather a mad scramble in the dark, and I can see why that would be anti-climatic. Also, you- and doubtless others- will be glad to hear that next issue is Clev and Nodel's last! Barda seemed uptight for a very specific reason, and it's all connected to the two words the agents said last issue to get her and Scott to accompany them in the first place- which will be revealed next issue! As for the trip revealing nothing, well, originally there was going to be a lot more of the Project in this issue but then I realised it would need a lot more space to do it justice, so I ended up spending a bit more time on the new, slightly more modernised Wild Area- or Mini-Vegas- and setting up for next issue. SO I can see why this plotline wouldn't have advanced as far as you may have wanted, and I'm sorry for that. I wouldn't say that. They brought Lonar back to Desaad, and he possessed valuable information which will have colossaly bad ramifications for the denizens of Exodus. I'd say it has contributed to advancing the plot a good bit. And again, I am sorry to hear that. I absolutely welcome the feedback though, because in a lot of ways, constructive criticism is far more useful than all positive stuff- I hope you enjoy next issue more! I know, I'm sorry that it seems we'll be losing Craig because he has churned out two INCREDIBLE covers, some of the best I've seen!

I'm really happy to be editing this book. I talk to Kevin most days, and he's got some really fun plans for this title, and his enthusiasm for the characters is nearly infectious. Nearly. Heh. Anyway, I'm always happy to get down to business and hack into this book, but I never have to. I feel like Kevin tells just enough amount of story for the book, not too much, not too little, and there's always going to be a pay off.
Anyway, really enjoyed this issue. I can understand where John's coming from on the DEO thing, but Kevin asked if there were any in-continuity DEO Agents, and I couldn't help myself. I also like to think that it continues to add more levels of mythology and continuity between all the books on the site.
Anyway, the story continues, lots of threads laid for the future, and a few soft crossovers are due to happen in the near future. Can't wait to receive the next issue, Kevin. Hint.
...
Hint.

This issue was good. Well written and the characters stayed true to form. Gotta love Desaad. Well, you don't have to, but I kind of do. I will finally come clean and admit that I'm not a fan of these two DEO agents either. I've really tried to, honest, but I could probably count on one finger the times I've enjoyed their appearance. Sorry... I actually enjoyed the Furies battle, but I'm not a huge fan of them either, so I didn't go into expecting a lot. I did think that the first issue was much stronger than this one, but I will be back next month... no longer how long it takes me to read it.

Anyway, really enjoyed this issue. I can understand where John's coming from on the DEO thing, but Kevin asked if there were any in-continuity DEO Agents, and I couldn't help myself. I also like to think that it continues to add more levels of mythology and continuity between all the books on the site. Don't worry, Charlie, every time someone brings up those agents, I am absolutely blaming you. YOU RUINED US ALL! Thanks for the feedback! as Charlie says, there are indeed soft crossovers coming up- this is very much tied to things happening in the DC2 at the moment, not just some isolated book. The New Gods Gods made their first appearance here by nearly obliterating the entire DC2 and that was when they were thinking small-time! As for the hint.... um.... *runs*. I join you in that guilty pleasure. There's something liberating about writing characters who are so completely evil that they make most villains seem positively saintly, and Desaad is one of them. The only one more liberating than him is- Ah, but he's dead. Right....? ....CHARLIEEEEEE!!!! ...No, but seriously, as I say, next issue's their last, and I do think it's good to have a duo to balance off Scott and Barda. Heh, well this seems to be a common theme here. If I had to guess from the comments, I'd say people definitely prefer the more epic scale of issue 1, in which case.... well, just wait until issue 4. I'm sorry you didn't like this issue as much, but fingers crossed next week will keep you aboard- a bit of a deviation from the first two issues, but very relevant, very important, and very.... is Kirbyesque a word? It is now!

If if it's all positive I will be the first to sing the praises of the issue (see issue #1) But regardless,I always try to provide constructive criticism. Thats why I have always made it a point to leave detailed feedback on everything I have ever read here(as well as rate every issue) and will continue to do so. I know how important it is to the creative teams involved and always look forward when someone does the same for me.
It is your dedication and excitement for this title that will keep me coming back to see what happens next. From the sounds of it this should be a fun title in the coming months and beyond.

After liking the first issue a lot, I liked this one but not quite as much as #1. Good action but I can tell that it's starting to set up something rather than being a big epic issue it's more of a set up but still good. I will be back next month.

Yes, the consensus here is definitely that it wasn't up to the standards of one. I think part of that may be that the more focused view was perhaps badly done so that it left behind the bigger picture and more epic scale of issue one. And yes, it is guilty of being a set-up issue, hopefully next week's issue is more to your tastes! Thanks for all the feedback of every type, everyone, I appreciate all of it!
