I was not a WW fan, but I am now. This rocks. Action, mystery, intrigue from the get go. There was obviously a lot of research put into this and it shows. I love the concept of Diana having to fight a battle of beliefs in the "modern" word and a physical battle on paradise island with "mosters of legend" I love it. And Hermes appearing before a crowd of religous devotees, great stuff. I would be interested in seeing how someone who is a devote christian would deal with the knowledge that the greek gods and goddesses exist. Anxiously awaiting next issue!

I thought this was a lot more 'adult' than the password-protected New Outsiders. That contained nothing that needed hiding other than a couple of swear words, which could have been bleep*d out and a bit of nudity/sex which was not beyond that visually depicted in the regular DCU. This on the other hand featured a level of violence far beyond that in the other titles. I really enjoyed the issue. Nice that its written by someone who obviously knows a lot about the greek myths. Nice also David that you incorporate this research without it feeling at all forced. But I realy think the password protection policy needs to be reviewed.

Well done David. Another great story in the can, as they say.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, yet I still can’t declare it ‘best of the week….’ That honor goes to Adventures of Superman this week. My problem with Wonder Woman is a personal one and reflects nothing on your writing prowess. I do not care about the characters in the regular DCU, so I find myself taking those pre-conceived feelings into account when I read the DC2 version.
What I can say about this is that you’ve done your homework on the characters. The speech is perfect, the Greek God lineage is perfect, the addition of Godfrey is very cool. I assume, Menalippe opened the portal with knowledge of what was coming in about 10 months time?
The battle was well written & easy to follow. Excellent work!

Actually, Scott, Menalippe's actions were dictated by a crisis far more immediate and (to her perspective) more horrific--- did anyone catch the clue dropped by Zeus while he was ruminating by the seeing pool, or the declaration by Hermes that the true enemy had yet to be revealed?
And to Evilal's point, I am forced to agree with him that violence of the nature depicted in this issue is probably far more egregious than the sexual romp and profanity in New Outsiders, but we live in a culture (at least in the US) where we have become in no small way desensitized to violence, granting it a certain amount of acceptability.
Is mass carnage worse than a fat mafioso swearing in Italian? Yes.
Is the killing of a helpless prisoner and the subsequent mutilation of her body more culturally palatable than two consenting adults gettin' it on in a hotel room? Sadly (controversially), yes.
With New Outsiders, we have an opportunity to explore some more adult situations (not just extreme situations), thus the Mature Audience label, but not every single issue will be chock-a-block with them!
So, great point Al!1000 karma points to Slytherin!

Oh no, Potterspeak! Help! Am I the only person on the planet who hasn't read the books? Maybe so I think. I've seen a few of the movies though so that counts right?
Yeah, I would have to say about the violence issue, you can see a whole lot of gore, ick, and violence-related imagery on primetime these days. I'm surprised how often I have to turn the channel for the sake of my young ones in the room. Not to say there isn't some language or sexual themes present also, but I think violence is much more accepted. Kids can watch wrestling and football all day long, but when a "wardrobe malfunction" happens it's an outrage! It is a great point though, Al, and I admit that I've considered a few times that some of the action onsite is maybe a little intense for "all ages". But I also think that any viewer of the site that is young enough to be offended by anything here would have to be of an age that a parent should be watching and paying attention to what their child is doing online and make that decision. Just my two cents.

Well said KSM! Not wanting to turn this into a different thread completly but having two of my own, the bottom line, is, has been, and should always be the parents. Too much blame is put on everyone else these days. That's it, nuff said!

And now my praise! Ha. Excellent job, David!
I would have to honestly say that this is one of the best Wonder Woman stories I have read. As stated before the greek myth elements are expertly used here. So often in the comics it seems like what should be one of the book's strengths becomes it's weakness when the myth characters are either ignored or focused on to the degree to make the story impenetrable to the casual reader. But here you've handled it perfectly. The story itself moves quickly and all the characters balance very well. And the clash of old and new beliefs is handled very nicely and Godfrey is presented as a very frightening character indeed!
Awesome work!

Good observations, Bigboi! There is something going on with Steve, the ramifications of which will reverberate throughout the DC2 for a very long time! And as for who is really behind the assault on Paradise Island, all I can say is: most religions have a strain of eschatology, an ultimate endgame, if you will (Ragnarok, the events of the book of Revelations, etc), and Greek paganism is no different... Things really heat up next issue!
