Good stuff. Maybe I'll toss up a couple rough sketches of cover ideas I felt didn't quite make the grade/fit in the meantime. I did a couple for kicks, but the one I settled on is pretty involved, and of course holiday schedules don't leave much drawing time, especially for a family man like myself. :-P Cool! Extras are always a nice holiday surprise!

Matt, basically what David said. If I could get it by the 21st that'd be great!
And without spoiling anything, we've got some GREAT stories this year!

Soooo the cover is about halfway done... TRYING to hammer out the rest of it, but I got some major news today in that I got a new job. Kind of a big deal for me, and between that and the holidays I've had precious little time to shoehorn art into.
FYI, IT'S COMING! SOON!!

I have moved the DC2 Specials board from the Back Issues board into the Earth-One board.

If I can get a list of the final contributing authors, I'll add that to the cover. Feels naked as-is!

Fantastic cover, Matt, you did a great job on it. I love the playful look, and the muted colors just somehow make it work better. Don't know why, but...who cares? great job!
And congrats on new job!
Take care Don

Might be just me, but I like the "rejected" cover even more.

Ha! Great cover, Matt! I love how the Flash is in line to sit on "Mrs. Claus' " lap!
The "rejects" are great, too! When we had an Art Director, we used to do such fun thngs like having a Christmas banner, and a DC2 Christmas postcard contest... Both of these remind me of the kinds of things we used to do... [wistful sigh for the good ol' days]...

So here is the final list of contributors: Mark Bowers Samantha Chapman David Charlton Insmouth's Shadow James Stubbs Don Walsh House Of Mystery

Alright, folks, it is up and ready for your reading enjoyment. I'm using Matt's temp cover for now but once he gets me the updated one, I'll replace it.
Merry Christmas! And here's to a productive and destructive 2012!

And a big thank you for taking charge of this great present to the DC2 community, James! It's much appreciated, riding herd over the project. And thanks to Sam for suggesting we do another round of this fun And of course, thanks to the other collaborators, but we'll get into that in the letters thread! Take care Don

I love your style! Anytime an artist can do pencils with no inks and get away with it, I'm all for it!

I love your style! Anytime an artist can do pencils with no inks and get away with it, I'm all for it! Thanks! Only the line-up/crowd is straight pencils... Wondy, Supes, and that reindeer throne are pencils, almost completely erased, colored in warm & cool grey markers, with inks thrown on at the end. Basically I'm trying all sorts of new techniques lately and I'm really liking the look of this one in particular. :-) Straight pencils is SO much faster for me, though. If I could find a good inker & a colorist I could cover half the books on this site. :-P
