Hey guys, I was just thinking... what are your comic buying habits? Are you there Wednesdays, waiting for your pull list to be handed to you? Do you pick and choose from the shelves? Do you head over on the weekend, or are you like me, waiting until the end of the month and picking up your pull list then?

I'm an evil man that can't support a weekly comic buying habit, mainly due to space, so I wait for trades/collections to come out (though a few books I've made exceptions for, like BTVS season 8, All Star Batman and Robin, and most recently Zatanna when that was being published). Though I do have friends that keep me informed about what's going on and I will frequently read their comic stacks. Mainly to stay updated and so I know what collections I actually want to buy when they get released.

My comic shop went out of business, and the next closest is too far away, so I have gone the digital route, reading on my laptop on the comiXology app. I suupose I'll pick up the trade for the titles I really like and will want to re-read down the road.

I went digital just recently, because I am too lazy to go to the store, and I have a bunch of boxes full of comics, and running out of storage room.

After moving from Denver over two years ago, I am no longer close to a CBS. The closest ones are in Portland which is 90 miles away. I stopped collecting monthlies over 5 years ago so it was no real lose. I have spent that time buying all my favs in TPB from Amazon or the occasional EBay deal. But DC's Flashpoint, followed by the new 52 got me excited again. I searched high and low for the best online store and came across Impulse Creations. 30% cover price means I can get more bang for my buck. I currently get between 26-28 DC books a month, (those sneak bastards keep adding more stuff beyond the new 52 like the Shade, JSA Earth Two, and Marv Wolfmans Nightforce.) and I spend about $60 and get them shipped to my home once a month. I do miss the thrill of going in every Wednesday. I was like Christmas 52 weeks a year. That is something I would’ve loved to share that experience with my daughter as she grows up, but sadly things change. Perhaps she will only know of the digital format and think paper and comic shops are for “old people”.

About 7 years ago I was Manager at my LCBS. I left on good terms with my then-assistant manager John. John has since bought the place from the guy that started the store (whom I did NOT part well with), and is currently in my weekly gaming group.
For years I wouldn't buy there since it was lining the owner's pocket, but now that my buddy John owns the place? When I buy comics (or games), I buy them there. It's 7 minutes' drive from my place, and I'm there pretty much once a week.
Actually my wife and I were joking yesterday that since John is in our gaming group, we could buy a gift certificate for my other friend to John's store and kill 2 birds with 1 stone... "Here's your Christmas gift! And John, that one was yours as well!"

30% cover price means I can get more bang for my buck. Check this site out, John. I think they give you even more of a discount.

Every other Thursday. It started as every Wednesday, but I slowly came to the realization that (A) comics shipments get delayed a day if there's a federal holiday and (B) there were weeks when nothing I regularly bought came in, I moved my habit to it's current schedule to avoid facing a pitifully-empty box. Now I know there will be at least 2-3 books in there when I go. There have been times, however, when I KNOW some particular issue has arrived that I'm dying to get my grubby paws on, so I make a special trip, like when this whole New 52 thing started.
Oh, and Free Comic Book Day. Even if I already came in 2 days before, I'll be there on the first Saturday in May. ;D
