At last, this massive project from James Stubbs and myself is hitting the PDF market, at DriveThruRPG. It's a subscription to each and every character while Purple Duck Games/4 Winds Fantasy Publishing continue work on the book as a whole, and it has some characters in there that are very near and dear to James and I. It's for the Mutants and Masterminds RPG (3rd edition), has superhero teams and their villains, looks at the five "ages" of superhero comics, and I'm very excited to see it finally reaching fruition. As a bonus, Boris Mijajlovic and Steve Howard both have pieces of art in here, along with a bunch of others so check it out. This is the subscription link, to get the entire material as it's released, or pick and choose characters as they go up, only 99 cents each. Deus ex HistoricaTake care Don

Well, it's finally out and I can't be prouder. I got these in at the end of last week, my comp copies, and they look great. Complete stats and backgrounds for hundreds of heroes and villains and even a touch of weirdness lying in the background ready to be exploited for campaigning. I'm very proud of this, as is James, and there's several examples of Steve Howard's work and Boris Mihajlovic's work in here (in fact, all but two of the designs on the front cover belong to one of those two awesome gentlemen). As a side note, those yellow pads on the side may or may not contain initial concepts for the ? Agency. Thanks for everyone here who had helped, and if you're looking for the finished product, check out DriveThruRPG. Take care Don

Dude! I'm looking forward to getting my copy. I think I went for the physical copy when I supported it... I've enjoyed the glimpses I've seen so far!

Got my copy at the end of last week. I don't know a thing about RPGs but I'm really impressed by the quality and the amount of work that's gone into it. You're right to be proud, Don.

Thanks, Mark. James came up with some great character concepts, and I'm very proud of some of the different angles and other characters I put in. For people that love that sort of thing, the legacy aspects from generation to generation are pretty cool, I think. And my favorite is the voice of the book, Danni Cipher. And Boris and Steve, and the other artists, really did themselves proud by and large.
Take care Don

Got mine last week, too. Very impressed with the amount of work that went into this! Staggering imagination and effort. I haven't played an RPG since my middle-school D&D days, but this material has immense crossover value, especially for writers of the DC2. I'm proud to have supported it.

Feels good to see your name in print, doesn't it?

Oh boy, does it ever! I forgot to mention that Sam also gets a credit in there, having helped do the initial editing pass (and saving the other editor and publisher a few thousand words all on her own, tightening up a lot of our language).
How goes your own quest to be published, Sue? Man, I miss talking to you. I should start doing that again. Maybe you'll be getting an email from me later this week, e-pen pal!
Take care Don

Congratulations Don! I look forward to seeing the finished project. Should I be concerned that I moved and changed addresses since the initial order last year?

John, all of the contributors owed a hard copy (whether soft or hard cover) of the book whom I know have received their copies. So if you haven't yet, and you're still in the States (which I'm pretty sure you are), you might want to drop Purple Duck Games an email and let them know about it. Mark is extremely responsive to his customers and I'm sure he'll find a way to help you out. I know Sam's copy ended up going to an older mailing address (and she even did change-of-address with the post office), so it's worth looking into.
Take care Don

That sounds fantastic, Don! Congratulations! I followed the link in this thread, but Drive-thru says the title is not available. Granted, I am on mobile and it is wonky at the best of times. I will check on my laptop when I get home from work. If your book is still not showing up, you may want to check the link. While I own Mutants and Masterminds, I have not had the opportunity to play it. No one local to me that I have found are into hero games. The last one I played was Champions about 22 years ago and I totally miss it. Best of luck to you and your continued literary and gaming success!

Yeah, that was the original method of release, while we were still testing layout and proofing, and to make up a little extra money to help with the final release. The final product, one large tome, is now available and can be found under Deus ex Historica as both PDF and softcover available for order from DriveThru. Thanks for reminding me to get the updated link for the site, Ben. I'm a big big fan of M&M, it's very much like Champions in its philosophy for character-generation, but more streamlined. I'm a huge fan of super-hero RPGs, and have tried them all. My current favorite system is the Marvel Heroic RPG (the most recent, from Margaret Weis Productions), which sadly had a short lifespan. It's amazing how well it captures the feel of superhero comics, as opposed to superhero RPGs. There's a number of online sites that offer gaming, if you're looking for stuff. If I can help point out any, I'd be happy to do so. And if any of my online groups moves back to a superhero game, I'll let you know, if you're interested. Meanwhile, thanks a lot for your good wishes, and hope you enjoy your time here with DC2. Take care Don

Yeah, it's great to see my editing credit at last. This is actually the second credit I wound up with this year, since a short story of mine made it into a for-charity book No pay but I kept all the rights and it's there in print and everything. DeH is fantastic, I'm totally already thinking about ways to use some of the characters. It was great to get the sneak-peek!
