So I was thinking why are we only doing fan fiction? Surely everyone here as had an idea for original heroes and villains. We could keep DC as the central focus but maybe have a board for original supers stories. Anyone else interested in doing an Earth-Nova or whatever it may be called? And maybe even some other franchises' fan fiction?

There's a question of whether you'd own the copyrights to any such OC once you posted it online, be it here at DC2 or anywhere else. But if your not concerned with that....

While I've got no problem with original stories, I'm not convinced that this site is the best place for them (or for other franchises). The site is already full to bursting with DC-related stuff as it is, so I worry that branching out in this way would create more clutter (I could be wrong, so if you wish to discuss this further or suggest site redesigns, please feel free to do so).
I've got no problem with anyone else starting up a sister site to this one to accommodate such material if people are eager to write such tales (we've had sister sites containing other franchises and original material in the past) and would be happy to provide a link to it. If anyone wants to set up such a site, but doesn't know where to start, PM me and I'd be happy to point the way.

While I’m very interested in writing some non-DC stuff I’m currently not in any capacity to run a site. I’d be happy to help if someone else was running. But if I do come into the capacity to run a site I wouldn’t hesitate.
As for Original Characters I think some people wouldn’t mind putting their stuff on the internet, as people on large sites like Fictionpress do just that.
You know what I will help get a site of the ground if I had help. Since this would be a newborn site we should probably start by focusing on a larger franchise like Marvel to attract writers and artists. And maybe the writers and artists could cross-pollinate between the Marvel site and DC2.
So is anyone interested in contributing to a Marvel site similar to this?

We've been down the road of a Marvel expansion site. Twice. It just doesn't end up working for whatever reason. However, if you still wanna give it a shot, I'd be onboard.

As I have discussed, I would love to write my own MARVEL Adventures. I'd especially be interested in a series titled Ghost Rider and the Midnight Sons. We should definitely start a new Marvel site.

If so would it be okay if I tried to gauge people’s interest in a Marvel site? Also what would people be interested in writing? I know Hush said Ghost Rider and the Midnight Sons, but is anyone else interested in writing for a Marvel 2? Personally I would like to try Avengers and maybe some X-Men or Spider-Man.
So if anyone has a link to the DC2 dA page it would be much appreciated.

I would like for there to be a Marvel Knights section for stuff like Ghost Rider, Punisher, Daredevil and things like that. It could be like our system of Earth A, Earth One, and Elseworlds.

So it seems there is an actual interest in Marvel 2.
So we have:
Hush10 – Ghost Rider and the Midnight Sons
UltimateDC – Fantastic Four
VintageViktor – Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil
Steve K. - Avengers, Exiles
Actually I think Fantomas expressed interest in writing X-Men in another thread. If you’re reading this Fantomas I would like to know if you’re still interested in writing about the X-Men. Also Hush10 I was thinking along the same lines for how to format the site. So the subsections would be Heroes (Spider-Man), Mutants (X-Men), Knights (Daredevil), and Alternate (What If...?).
I’ve just left a comment on the DC2 dA page seeing if anyone else is interested in this endeavor. Hopefully there is enough interest to warrant the starting of the site.

So I’ve talked to Fantomas and since decided not to call the new site Marvel 2 because even though Marvel will be the focus it will also have other franchise’s fan fiction and possibly original stories. Which brings me to the question what should the site be called? I was thinking New Heroic Tales which is a bit too much cheese ball for my liking. And if everything goes right the site will go up on the weekend, possibly. So if anyone is interested in the site please go out and see if any of your online buddies are interested in a site like it.

So if anyone is interested in contributing then head on over to New Heroic Tales. Also Hush10, the Marvel section of the site is divided into 3 categories: New Marvel, New Marvel MAX, and New Marvel Alternate. The first two are their own universe/continuity while the third is for whatever doesn't fit into the other two categories. Since you want to write Ghost Rider and the Midnight Sons I would say you have to decide on how dark and realistic you want it. If you're going to treat it like another super-team then I would say put it in New Marvel, or if you want it gritty then go with MAX. Hopefully that answers your question, - Steve |

I drew a picture of him and thought it'd make a good cover for an issue. Again this'd be a full blown comic  I like doing those. |

Again, I'd love to see an open Marvel section for this site. There is the occasional interest from the creative folks here, but never enough to sustain a secondary site.
It's a shame we haven't been able to retain the efforts so far. Are all those Marvel 2 stories and covers lost? Or does someone still have access to them?

The covers (that are still live) are brilliant, but I don't stand by my stories, personally. I don't think we've ever been a strong enough position to sustain two sites, writing workshop / art department wise, and every time we try the Marvel2 (in every iteration) either dies out before it even starts or a couple of months in. Personally, I don't think we should even attempt a Marvel2 at the minute. The DC2 is just getting back up to speed again. |

Right. Why not have a Marvel board here, like our Elseworlds or Earth A? We could recover some of the previous hard work people have already done on the other attempts, and have a venue for those stories. There is obviously a desire to tell Marvel stories also. Just not a sustainable alternative yet.
And thanks for the link, Charlie. I thought these covers were great!
