Reading this issue was like pulling on a comfy, old sweater. Brian Burchette is back, and doing what he does best!
Some very cool new stuff, but just enough familiar material poking through between the lines to keep me enthralled and on my toes. The cat and mouse game between Shado and Merlyn was so much fun and brutal (I somehow don't think we've seen the last of that feud, despite the ending), I didn't even notice there wasn't an emerald archer in sight!
The behind the scenes skullduggery with Dino and the mysterious others was a lot of fun, too. Can't wait to see what those familiar faces do next week.
Cover by Joe Jarin for the win! Man, that is a great pic, and the issue delivers on that story, too.
A five star effort, gentleman! A welcome return to form from a triumvirate of DC2 greats (Don's editorial hand is not unnoticed in this work)!

Joe's cover was awesome and wait til you see what is coming for issue #30! Next month. And Don had the hardest part of this, making it readable. :-) Thanks Don! Thanks Joe! And thanks for reading, David! Next issue is pretty much the wrap up of these long lingering story lines and the beginning of new ones.

Instead of throwing us into super battles or gang wars straight away, we get a glimpse into the human cost of these interactions, and it was a nice-- albeit sad!-- glimpse into the loss that people suffer when caught up in these stories. It also establishes what kind of place Star City is nowadays, great work for three relatively short paragraphs, Brian! I didn't realise Connor was dead! When did that happen? The gap between this issue and the last? I can't recall the last issue (sorry, it has been some time!) so this is a new thing for me and took me a bit to process. Nice to see that they're trying to chase down Connor's killer though. But poor Connor And who is OFFICER KATE SPENCER? Sounds very familiar... Moving on from that, the confrontation between Merlyn and Shado was... dramatic, no doubt. And the conclusion? Blimey, Brian. This issue is all about not messing about, I get that completely. The ending, with the DC2 debut of a new team of heroes, and the return of a previously dead one? I say previously dead, but I did say I processed it, right? I WAS JUST COMING TO GRIPS IWTH IT? Welcome back, Brian. This has been a great month already and there's plenty more to come!

Thanks Charlie and yep, DC2 is on its way back up and I'm excited to be back and be a part of it. Now to wrap up the first issue of a certain book called: "Batwoman and The Outsiders!"
