Krypton, 47 minutes ago
Superman watched as the boys fled, then he turned to Wonder Woman, who smiled.
“What took you so long?” she asked. “You almost missed the battle.”
“Had to change. Besides, this gives me the chance to get back at you for what you did the other day.”
From behind them, a droid leapt, with intentions of killing the Amazon first. Superman yelled “Look out!” as he pushed Wonder Woman out of the line of danger.
The droid tackled Superman to the ground, forcing the Emerald Protector of Sector 2349 to grasp its head, and crush its exo-skull. The droid's left eye shattered and began to droop out. Then the skull collapsed, destroying the droid.
Superman forced the droid’s remains off himself and got to his feet. He turned to Diana and looked at her, puzzled.
“Why didn't you help me?”
“It was fun watching you struggle.” She laughed. Superman smiled in return.
Batman threw a droid past Superman and Wonder Woman, as he approached them.
“If you two don't mind, I'd like to point out that there is an attack going on around us.”
Another droid rushed at Batman, only to be stopped by Batman's raised fist. The droid fell to the ground, its systems trying to repair itself.
“REPAIRS NEEDED. MANUAL REPAIR REQUIRED. SYSTEMS ATTEMPTING--” Batman's foot crushed its head in.
“Forgive us, Batman, we were just getting to that.”
A spear flew by Wonder Woman's ear and broke through a droid's torso. The droid turned towards a boy and wandered towards him, when a flash of light distracted it. It scanned for the boy but failed, when out of the air, Superman leapt, his fist crashing into the droid's skull so hard that it would have made a tower fall.
Now, in another location...
A light flashed and Kryptonians all around stared at the source: a man, covered in armor, with a hood covering his head. The mysterious stranger pulled the hood back and smiled.
“That... was amazing!”
The civilians cowered in fear, while a lone toddler, not even the age of six, approached the stranger. The small boy tugged on the man's cape and glared. The man shot his eyes towards the boy and waited for him to speak.
“Are you a space man?”
The man knelt down and began to speak.
“No, I come from here. Just like you.”
“Then how did you get here so quickly.”
“Well, um... I have these, uhhh.... powers that let me teleport place to place, faster than the Kryptonian eye, I guess.”
“Do I have powers?”
The boy was interrupted as his father approached. The father, shaking in fear, pulled his son away from the stranger.
“Who are you? What do you want from us.”
“Ummm. I want to protect you. I suppose that's what I was given my powers for.”
“Okay, okay! Just don't hurt my son! He's all I have left.” The man fell to his knees, begging for mercy.
“No! You don't understand, sir. I'm Krypton's new protector! Or so I'm told. I'm like Superman, maybe even Batman.” He helped the man back to his feet.
All of a sudden, the wall to the left of the stranger crashed down. Superman lay on the ground, moaning in pain, grabbing his bleeding head. The stranger floated towards Superman and helped him up.
“Whoa, Superman, are you okay?”
“Yeah, fine. Just get all of these people out of here, now!” Superman walked away, but was stopped by the stranger's hand.
“But, Superman, I can help! You see, I'm Krypton's protector!”
“Yeah, so am I, now get these people out of here.” Superman flew back into battle, while the hooded stranger frowned.
Wonder Woman sank her sword deep into a droid and charged it with Sapphire energy. Batman threw an electrically-charged batarang into another droid’s chest and blasted yet another with his ray gun. Superman was standing back to back with Batman, a horde of droids surrounding them.
“Didn't expect them to have reinforcements.”
“They're droids, of course they'd have a limitless amount of soldiers.”
The Dark Knight pressed a button on his wrist gauntlet, activating a green light that emitted from his chest shield.
“What's that?”
“I found an essence of your ring's energy on my armor from our last encounter. I was able to charge it to the point where it can power my suit. Where did you get that ring anyway?”
“A group of blue aliens with big heads.” Superman chuckled.
“Very funny.”
Batman aimed his fist at a droid and blasted it with green energy. The droid had an electrical shortage and fell to the ground, twitching and shaking. Superman and Batman continued to battle the droids, when a shadow was cast on the two. They turned to find a large METALLO Mk. 2890, towering over them.
The large droid aimed its yellow energy canons at the dynamic duo of heroes.
“GREEN LANTERNS DETECTED. SOLUTION CHECK; TERMINATION. CHARGING YELLOW ENERGY NOW.”
A yellow light slowly began to grow brighter. Superman created a shield around himself and Batman.
“GREEN LANTERNS DETECTED. TERMINATION PROGRESSING. YELLOW ENERGY CHARG--”
A fist was shoved through the METALLO's chest that ripped out its yellow energy core.
“ERROR. YELLOW ENERGY REMOVED. SHUTING DOWN. ERROR. ERROR. ERRRROOOOOOOOORRRR--”
The METALLO collapsed and created a large rumble as it hit the ground. Superman looked above to see, once again, the hooded stranger. The man floated down to Superman.
“Who's this fool?” asked Batman.
“Actually, we haven't been properly introduced. Who are you again?”
The stranger shook, his nerves were getting to him. His sweaty palm balled up.
“Well, as I said I am Krypton's protector. But you can call me SHAZAM!”
Thunder crashed as the marvel uttered his own name. But no, it was not the protector Shazam, it was the boy Bati-Son! Superman and Batman looked down upon Bati-Son.
“What just happened?” Batman asked.
The conversation was interrupted by Wonder Woman, calling for Batman's assistance.
“BRUCE! THERE ARE TOO MANY FOR ME TO HANDLE!”
“Get the boy to safety, Superman. Diana and I will handle the rest!”
“Will do, Batman.” Superman turned his eyes from Bati-Son for a split second, and when he turned back to him, Bati-Son was gone.
Lightning struck a short distance away. There was a gust of wind, a cluster of crashes and a small explosion. Superman turned to the source of the sounds to find Shazam, who was standing on a pile of droids. The trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman stared in astonishment.
Two hours later...
People crowded around Shazam, praising him and thanking him for saving their lives.
“Forgive me but I'm afraid I can't stay here, I must speak with my friends.”
Shazam looked back at Superman and the others, who were also crowded by people.
Jor-El's Palace, a quick ten minutes later...
Jor-El looked upon the boy known as Bati-Son, speaking with him in a soft voice. Outside the throne room, Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman were waiting.
The doors opened and out came Bati-Son, followed by Jor-El. Jor-El approached the three heroes.
“The boy has much courage, but is too young to be given such powers. Who would have presented him with them?”
Wonder Woman stepped forward.
“I... I may know whom. But I must ask that you three keep this secret.”
“Let me guess... it's the Wizard?” interrupted Batman.
Superman and Wonder Woman glared at Batman questioningly.
“I can explain.”
Earth, 2012
The war was not looking so good on Earth's side. The Thanagarians were winning and there was no sign of the Justice Society. But there was ONE LAST HOPE. The Wizard SHAZAM had helped battle the Thanagarians, for which we were very grateful. However, The Wizard became very weak over the next few months, as he was exposed to the BLACK ADAM force. It was driving him mad.
He had no choice but to give his powers to a mortal. He chose Willie Fawcett, a friend of mine during the war. Around the World, Fawcett had defeated countless armies of Thanagarians. But something changed. Fawcett began to kill humans as well, just as Shazam was gaining back his strength.
Soon, Shazam discovered Willie's sickness. When Shazam gave Fawcett his powers, he also transferred the Black Adam force. It wasn't long until the two had clashed.
Shazam's Throne Room, deep inside his cave.
The Wizard was standing opposite Fawcett. Electricity coursed through both of their veins.
“You realize that you cannot win, William.”
“Heh heh... you are a FOOL, wizard. It is I that shall win. I have already defeated Fate, what makes you think that you can win?”
“I have the will of the gods. Can you say the same?”
“HAHAHA HA! You fool! You believe that the gods exist?! THERE IS NO MAGIC! IT IS ALL A TRICK! AN ILLUSION! You have been lied to, 'WIZARD'!”
In the corner of the cave, in the darkest depths, was the man named Bruce Wayne. He watched the battle but was forced to sit and watch. Blood poured out of his side, due to a deep burn, placed there by Fawcett. He waited for his move, for the moment to strike. But for now he had to rest, in the dark. “Just wait, Fawcett... wait for me to come out. Show you that you are not above us. You will pay. And when you do, I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”
The Wizard prepared for what was to come. Fawcett grinned and laughed, knowing that the wizard was a fool. In a flash, Fawcett became airborne, striking at the Wizard, continuing to laugh.
