Stop being such a pessimist, Jay!
Jeff Lemire is a proven talent, as demonstrated by Sweet Tooth, his Animal Man run, and by god do I love Trillium. I keep meaning to pick up The Nobody, which looked stellar and came out in 2009.
The Dodsons are a proven commodity too, and it'll be great to see them on a DC property again. When they were on Simone's Wonder Woman it was beautiful, and I'd love to see them on a big mainstream DC title again.
This could be amazing, it could be awful, but just because you've been burnt before doesn't mean you should be negative before a book has even been released. Be a real fanboy again! Don't be a hater! It's something a lot of us should try, I think.
(Also, my latest issue of Justice League came out recently, check it out!)

Then don't read it, Jay. honestly, what's the point of this comment? You don't like modern comics. Lord knows you've hammered this one home to us on many occasions on this board. Read the comics you enjoy and don't read the ones you know you won't. The premise is interesting, the creators are solid, I'm sure it'll be at the least a good read, and it could be great. But it'll never be the book you want, so don't bother with it. Nothing's "pulling you back in." You're an adult, you have control over your wallet. Don't read it.
Take care Don

Original post deleted. I didn't delete the whole thread only because that would be a slight to Don and Charlie as well, as apparently my original post was.
But here's the question. Would you rather I just left entirely? Cuz apparently everything I say is wrong.

Okay, where did that come from? We're giving you our advice. You came up, said you saw this comic, but you think it'll fail you, and we said, "yeah, it probably will, so read what you enjoy." What part of that is thinking you should leave? That's a rather stark leap from A to 4. Seriously, Jay, no one's telling you to leave. That what you say is wrong. We're saying, "yeah, based on what you write here, and what you've stated about modern comics here, this book isn't for you. don't read it."
And then you delete your post so it looks like Charlie and I are just jumping on you for no good reason. And then saying, "Oh woe is me." I'm not sure the reasoning. If there are problems that are upsetting you, then talk to people, speak up here, get your friends to back you up and support you, since that's what community is here for. If you're just the Eeyore of the group, that's cool, but then revel in it in your Eyore-ish way and don't worry about it. And if this was meant as a troll post, you got us. Good for you. Charlie and I fell for it perfectly. Nicely done, keep at it. It's been a while since I was suckered so perfectly. I applaud you, if that was the case.
But don't just post up a link about a book coming, say you're worried it won't meet your expectations and then delete it and flounce when some of your colleagues say, "Nope. You're right. This book won't be for you, Jay."
Take care Don

No, I wasn't trolling. I was trying to take the high road and not have a 78 post argument. Trying to be an adult as you advised me to be. It's true I probably should've just posted the link without comment. I deleted my post because of your exasperated response. I thought you'd Finally Had Enough Of Me. But if not, maybe I should just delete the whole thread?
When you talked about the dA group, I promoted you on it; when I was apparently wrong about Starfire, I backed down. I was trying to do the same thing here. (If everything I say isn't wrong, then at least it provokes the wrong reaction.)
Would it be better if I just deleted the thread? Or one of you can do it. Whichever.

I'm not sure what else to tell you, Jay. You started a conversation. We joined in, assuring you that it's okay to pass on a title you feel will let you down. Because of your stances in the past, we know where you stand fairly well and feel good about saying these things. That's what these threads are meant to do: create conversation. You succeeded at that. There was no argument, we're giving opinions to support your opinion. Discussion. The purpose of thread creation: the genesis of discussion.
I thanked you for the dA page, and got to make my pitch. You weren't wrong on Starfire, you backed down to nothing. You started a conversation, and Charlie and I joined in. In support of you. Knowing how you feel about modern comics, we supported you and tried to talk about the topic at hand.
At this point, I'm pretty much finished with this direction of discussion. If you are determined to take my words in the most aggressive, unapologetic, hard-assing way where I'm just beating on you relentlessly, that's fine. You go ahead. Charlie and I are just trying to talk about the topic you started. I'd much rather we go back to talking about the topic you began (and then removed, making Charlie and I look even MORE like we're being mean ol' bullies), and what a Teen Titans: Earth One could mean and might hold. Charlie would like the conversation to go that way again. Whatever you want to make of those statements at this point is entirely in your hand.
Take care Don
