Hello everybody, I've just posted the sixty fourth issue of our ongoing Justice League series, and isn't that absolutely mad? Obviously we've had other series that have gone on even longer, but in this day and age, on a site with next to no traffic and a silent majority of a readership, it's an act of madness when you boil it down... so what does that say about me? Nothing good, I'm sure.
You'll notice three covers for this issue. No particular reason other than Jamie Rimmer-- in his last cover for the foreseeable future-- came up with three different coloured versions he really liked and then didn't want to pick a favourite to use as the sole cover. I simply thought, who am I to deny him the stage to present some really pretty looking versions of a cover, and posted them all.
I've mentioned this over in Green Lantern Corps and I was going to hold off sharing until #75 of that title hits, but I can't be bothered to wait anymore. After Green Lantern Corps #75 lands in two months, that title will go on a hiatus, with an eye toward returning in Autumn 2018. I've stretched myself so thin that means trying to keep writing a book that has slowly become harder to write over the last six months or so is no longer tenable. I'm plotted out for years (obviously) and I'm hoping the hiatus will give me the time to find the spark to push ahead with it. We'll see.
Justice League will continue, and I have plans that take me into my thirties, but I just know that book has to hit #100 to make everything I'm working on worthwhile. Roy is committed to covers, and we're psyched to be doing this! He has all the specs up until #74, I think, and then we get into the anniversary shit that's going to blow your minds.
Right, so it sounds like I'm going down to one title a month. That's probably going to be the case for a bit, but we all know that'll never stick.
We have some new titles launching in the future-- one most definitely not written by me!-- and I intend to finish a lot of long standing projects. You'll see Omega Crisis wrapped, and some never before seen Brandon Herren (RIP) designs will be gracing the site along with it. That's a long term project, but it's massively important to get out as Susan is contributing something massive that long time fans of her Weird Western Quarterly title will love, but I need to get to a certain point with Omega Crisis before that can come out, and I hate holding her up!
What else... from a 10YL standpoint, Batman: The Last Laugh #2 needs to come out, but I've not written much. Roy did the cover though and it's freaky as all heck. Superwoman #4 is written, but I'm just waiting on Steve for a cover. I might go forward without the art, as it needs to come out before the next Omega Crisis issue. We'll see. I have other stories set in that time plotted, but we'll see if I get them written. I don't want to use all my ideas up and then be adrift...
ArtTeach did all the covers for DC2 Most Wanted, and I'm pissed I didn't get that out to bridge the gap between Batman Vs Superman and Suicide Squad when they came out. So frustrating. I have the first issue of a new Flash miniseries written, and the next couple of issues plotted. That ties into the stuff we saw at Christmas and I'd really like to get that down on paper. There's also a big ol' new Batman title from myself that I want to get out there, tentatively titled The Dark Knight, and the first twelve issues are plotted.
So, basically, during the hiatus there'll still be multiple titles, but I'm breaking away from the Green Lantern Corps / Justice League dichotomy. Hopefully we have some cool new content for you (if you're reading) that'll get the juices pumping.
