Hey all! I'm new here (got sucked over here from the Birds of Prey Virtual Season), so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Blair. I was one of the artists on the former Birds of Prey Virtual Season. I'm a graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Art, I am a former conceptual artist for an Event Marketing agency, and currently I'm a freelance artist and screenwriter. My first screenplay is currently being looked at by a few agencies for representation (yes, it is a comic-book style movie). As for my artwork... I'll post one big pic here, and links to a few others (so I don't eat all your bandwidth. ~) First one here is a completely digital piece I did a couple of years back for a contest. I was one of the winners; And a couple more; Harley Quinn painting... onegemini.com/art/harleyc.htmA New Batgirl pencil drawing... onegemini.com/art/newbatg2.htmand finally (for now), a quick Batman sketch... onegemini.com/art/sketches/batmansketch1.htmFrom these pages, you'll probably be able to wander around my website, which is fine, just keep in mind, it's under reconstruction right now, so not everything is working great. Okay... off to check the other art!

Great stuff, Blair! Nice digital work and congrats on the successful graphic design work (read over your site).
We are always looking for artists to contribute covers here at the site so if you are interested please let me know.

Thanks for the compliments. I e-spoke with Idlewilder, so perhaps in the future, I will have time to contribute some original work.

I think there are a couple of Nightwing fans here (I'm one), so I'll post this, as it doesn't appear on my page. A pen and ink piece and Photoshop colors. And this one is manipulated photos mixed with digitaly drawn images. Just a little test to see if I could make a comic page completely within the computer. Okay... that's all for now.

I suddenly feel quite inadequate... No need to feel inadequate, yer stuff is plenty good, LanternLad! KillerSeaMonkey posted about doing covers at some point (and I will, when I have time to dedicate to stuff here), but for now I'll post a -- GASP -- Marvel fake-cover I did for Spider-man (if you've been to my site, you've probably seen this, but if you haven't, it'll save you the trek). Oh, and a few more tidbits about me. When it comes to comics, my favorite DC characters are... well, most of the Bat-family, especially Batman and Nightwing. At Marvel, it has to be Ultimate Spidey and the Ultimates (Avengers). Then I'm into a bevy of non "Big Two" titles and the like (check my webpage's bio for the low-down on that).

Looking at the other great work on the fan art board, I see I'm behind as far as quantity goes. Everyone's got so much art up. So, I'll play catch up. I'm trying to find pieces that you won't find on my page... so here's a couple more (pardon the scan quality... these were both commissions done under a tight schedule, so I only had time to photograph them, and not well, before I sent them out.) First up, another of my favorite ex-Boy Wonder, Nightwing; And, since Wildstorm is still under DCs rule (I think), Abbey Chase from Danger Girl; Like I said, sorry for the quality, but I'm looking for stuff you can't find on my site.

My WACOM tablet has been a bit touchy, so I thought I'd put it through its paces. Looks like it's fine. But I needed a subject. So, I drew KillerSeaMonkey's DC2 Wonder Woman design (I apolojize for just guessing on the boots, as I don't know what they'll look like). I like the fact he made her an Amazon, and not the typical thin, non-muscular superheroine that a lot of artists draw her as. You can have a muscular woman who is still beautiful, so I like that's what he's trying to do. This is all WACOM drawn in Photoshop. May look a bit blurry, as this is at 72 dpi, and the original is 300. Hope the image isn't too big. My WACOM is warmed up -- any requests?

Again, stellar work Onegemini.
I hadn't decided 100% on the footwear yet for Diana. I was thinking either a version of the high strap sandals, the boots, or some thick strap sandals that were somewhere in between the two. The pic looks great though. My Wacom is small (Graphire 2) so I haven't really attempted much in the way as digital drawing. You worked that pic up pretty fast though. Really fast, in fact. Surely you can turn out just a few pics here and there for us, right? *nudgenudge* ;D

For some of my older digital works, I was doing that during downtime at my concept artist job. Those were done on a 15" Cintiq monitor. Dang, I miss that thing. Well, I honestly did believe the tablet wasn't working right. I hadn't used it in a long while. I got at least halfway into the pic before I decided everything was okay, and then just decided to finish it.

Here's a slight break from the regular stuff. Someone wanted to see what I was doing when I was 14-16 years old. This was done in 1994 when I was 16 (anyone remember Hero Illustrated Magazine? Articles were better than Wizard at the time). This was pen and ink and colored pencil. I don't even know where the original is anymore. This is a scan of a photocopy of the original. I never finished it. Sad.

I didn't see a specific place to link this (if anyone has a suggestion, I'll take it), so I'll keep it with the rest of my junk fer now. This is a sample of my writing (prose -- not script). This is a Nightwing fanfic based on the Birds of Prey Virtual Season. Pardon the website it's on. They seem to be having problems. www.fanfiction.net/s/1550199/1/

Yeah, Blair is the guy I was HOPING would do covers for Dark Squire. We also worked together on the BOP project he mentioned, and I wrote the Nightwing stories that inspired his script, which was also very well done. And yeah, his art is just gorgeous, hence the reason I tried to lure him in, but alas, he's a bit too busy at the moment. But I'm glad he's posting some samples here anyway.

Batman... let's see... this one is on my site (I've pretty much run out of stuff that isn't on my site that's worth looking at). It's an unfinished sketch done in Photoshop on a Cintiq. You can even see the layer beneath where my "blueline" sketch is; And, cuz I like him so much, the Joker;

This is fantastic, high quality work. The DC2 would be an excellent venue for art of this caliber to be displayed and noticed (we've gotten some attention on the DC Message Boards, so you never know who'll be dropping by for a peek)...

This is fantastic, high quality work. The DC2 would be an excellent venue for art of this caliber to be displayed and noticed (we've gotten some attention on the DC Message Boards, so you never know who'll be dropping by for a peek)... Actually, I'm no longer actively persuing comic book penciling work. If I wanted to get noticed by them, I'd go back to submitting to them. I have contacts at DC (a few editors in the Batman group) and Marvel (submissions editor, editors, and some colorists). I have classmates at both. I can use those at any time to set up submissions or meetings. I haven't even posted narrative work here. Pinups, covers, and posters mean zilch to editors and submissions people. Just because you can draw well, doesn't mean you can tell an extended narrative with pictures. Heck, I went to school with many guys who could rock a pinup of Batman, but couldn't draw two pages of a mailman delivering mail. So they they didn't do very well. I'm posting things here purely for fun, and to share, because it's been a while since I've shared any art with much of anyone.
