The Fortress Superman and Kara stood looking at a large crystalline space craft. "Keelex was able to use the schematics from my rocket, and the crystal technology of the fortress, along with other technological advances available to us through the Justice League to construct this space craft. It'll get us to your planet in hours, instead of the days it took me before." "Us, you're going too?" Kara shifted her weight from foot to foot. "Yes, don't worry though, I'm not staying", he smiled. "I just want to make sure you get there safely. I have a boom-tube return setup for here at the fortress, you can keep the ship in case you want to come back." "Thank you, Kal." she tugged at the cape she now wore. "Is the outfit not comfortable for you?" Keelex had designed clothes for her based on Superman's outfit, using a full body, Olympic swimsuit. It may or may not have been a programming flaw that added the cape. "Oh no it's fine Keelex, just more than I'm used too. Thank you Keelex for all your help." "It is good my programming was useful to you, safe journey Kara." Superman and Kara sat down in the craft. Keelex turned crystals at the control panel and the ship slowly lifted out the east exit toward the top of the mountain. Once clear of the earth’s atmosphere the ships hyper/star drive, a unique combination of Kryptonian, Thanagarian and Apokoliptian technology kicked it into hyperspace.

Metropolis: Daily Planet "Nice scoop on this Supergirl, Lane." Perry shouted across the newsroom from the door of his office. Lois didn't look up from the computer screen; she kept typing and raised her hand over her head to acknowledge the accolade. "Nice piece, Lane. The article I mean." Steve Lombard threw the paper down on Lois' desk. "What do you want Lombard?" Lois kept typing. "You think you can introduce me to Supergirl?” Lois stopped typing and looked up at Steve. He had parked himself on the corner of her desk. "No." "Well, she'll need someone to show her the ropes, show her how things work on earth. Specifically between men and women." Lois picked up the paper and swatted him over the head with it. "Get out, you moron!" "Oh, come on Lois! Don't keep all the super for yourself, share the wealth, throw your old buddy Lombard a bone, or better yet throw Supergirl one." "You are the nastiest human being I know, Lombard!" "Why thank you, Lois, that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me." Lombard bolted out the newsroom door as Lois picked up her stapler.
"@$$hole", she muttered as she turned back to her computer screen.

Space
Verdan twisted the control on the massive world harvester space craft. At the end of the mile long vessel a section slid open and round glowing nodules sprayed out, falling like round globs of snow toward the planet below.
Verdan sat back and sipped his bitter truder tea. A few cycles and the work would be done, then autopilot back to base for delivery. This was the easiest job he had ever had with The Planetary Conglomerate, lots better than raking out the modern stables. The stench those beasts produced was unbearable.
Now all he had to do was input the coordinates of a world ripe for the taking, and sit back while the harvester nodules collect every usable resource from the target planet, and then take the raw energy back to The Conglomerate Home-world for refinement and distribution.
It was a sweet job.
Superman bit down on the juicy fruit and handed one to Kara.
“It’s a Date Plum diospyros lotus, ancient people called Greeks called it "the fruit of the Gods". Kara took the fruit and bit it. "mmmm, it's good." She said between bites. The juice dribbled down her chin. Superman took the end of his cape and dabbed it away. "This place, the rain forest, reminds me of home. I like it. Not at all like that Metropolis. That female that I meet? Is that your mate?"
Superman blushed. "Not exactly, we’re uh", Superman searched for a word she might understand, "courting" "Do you have offspring"? "No." "And until you found me, you thought you were the last of our kind." "Yeah, it's complicated, here." "That is why I would like to go home." "Kara, are you sure you want to go back." "Yes, it is my home as this is yours, as much as this place reminds me of home, it is not. I miss my", she searched for the word. "friends." Superman and Kara slowly lifted up, from the rain forest floor, taking care not to damage the dense canopy. "We'll make arrangements to get you home as soon as we get back to the fortress. But I hope you will come back." Kara reached out and touched Superman's hand. "I'm sure I will, cousin, now that I know I have even more family." Kara's touch was warm, not like touching a human; it actually seemed to radiate warmth. Was this what Lois felt when she touched him, Superman wondered.

I'm a huge HUGE fan of Geoff Johns, I really am, and I was excited about this last issue with Toyman. Couldn't wait to see what he did with this villain.
SPOILERS*******
but, for the first time ever, I was very dissapointed with this issue. Toyman was good and the story was interesting, but suddenly Batman shows up to save Jimmy!!! WHAT?!
I actually checked the cover to make sure I was reading the write book. Yeah, there's a slight connection there with Toyman being in Arkham, but come on! How much Superman/Batman team ups do we have to have.
I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps Lois isn't enough for the Supes. (total sarcasm, but random appearances are beginning to get a bit annoying in the world of DC)

Is it just me, or are Ellen's posts getting a tad odder as every year passes. Of course, I've read her upcoming Nightwing, and I think I may know why. ;D Welcome Chris! Glad to have you around! Hope you enjoy what everyone has created here. We're a very special place and we're all very special people. In fact, some might say we ride a very special bus together... it's kind of shorter than most, but we like it. Say hello to Mark, he drives the bus. (I'm never getting out of the basement at this rate)

This was an EXCELLENT issue with a capital EXCELLENT. I've become very intrigued with what is going on with Occult, and this story was just plain freaky fun.
It had a very "Supernatural" feel to it, and I loved that. This story reminded me of all those nights when I was a young man, reading the best of Stephen King and Peter Saul.
There were moments that gave some major goosebumps and the story itself was exceptionally tight. Honestly, I think supernatural, bizzare, and creepy is perfect for you, Charlie. You've got exceptional talent for it. And this is the stuff that you do that wows the hell out of me.
The cover was an acceptional piece of work that blended perfectly well with the story. Ramon and Charlie have always had a great rapport and this proves it beyond the shadow of a doubt.
5 stars to all.

I'll have to say that the cover really attracted me to this story. I love the way it was drawn and the colors used. So I was very intrigued to see what this story was about. The concept is cool. Bizzaro's transformation is interesting and if this story has been done before in DC proper, I never read it, so to me it's damn original, and therefore fascinates me. My only small issue is Lex. Since he no longer owns his company and is on the run (The Fero Corporation having bought out his business), I have to wonder where this falls into the continuity of the DC2? I'm sure that makes some people cringe, and I really try not to be a continuity freak (I know Ellen's probably raising an eyebrow at this point, LOL), but to me it seems like a pretty big glare. However, there may be more to this than meets the eye, and like I said, the story idea is so fascinating that there is no way I'm going to miss issue #11. A pretty solid beginning. I'll be back.

Brian, you have surpassed my ability to compliment. Thank you for writing such a well thought out and entertaining story. I enjoyed every minute of it. Same goes with your covers, partner! Everyone is a treat to the eyes and helps me pull each issue together. As always, I am in your debt. Thank you.

A most excellent resolution to the Batwoman/Tornado sub-plot and a great chapter-closing to this portion of the Outsiders' story in general. Lots of strong emotion, great character moments, fantastic action...all told, proof positive that this is the best title going on the DC2 site. And I dont' want to hear this modesty crap of yours, Brian. Suck it up and deal with the compliment, already! I will just reply with a sincere thank you and it makes me happy that you enjoyed it. LOL! Yeah, I think I was just projecting a bit on Ollie's line there. I know this is Ellen's line but... *blush*. Thank you so much.

I came into this issue with high expectations. As per usual, my expectations were met. Thank you, and really glad I didn't let you down. Well, you know Ollie. Pick the wrong time to say something really important and then drop it like a bomb. LOL! Babs and Red were scene's I worked hard on, and I can't take full credit for this turn of events. Both David and Mark had suggested the idea at different times. It's just taken me a while to get them to this point. Ask and you shall receive. Next issue, Red Tornado is back!

Plastic Man lay there moaning, “You know, ever since I joined up with you people, it seems like one woman after the next has been walking all over me. I’m going to take a nap now.” And with that he fell unconscious.Bwahahahaaaa! Glad you liked that line. I kind of chuckled when I wrote it. Of course I work with sixteen women in my office, so there might have been some projecting on that one. Glad this has you concerned, Jay. It should... Thanks for reading my friend. And remember, sometimes things aren't what they seem to be.

You ever get the feeling that Brian is composing music rather than writing a story? This quip left me with the tinge of a guitar string being plucked by a pick... Just felt the emotion screaming off the page. How do you do that, Brian? Wow, I don't know. I've never had anyone compare it like that, and it's taken me aback a bit. But I'm honored that there are moments that resinate like that for you. Well, that was kind of a dilema for me. I was already twenty pages in and I could have really written another ten to fifteen, but felt that I would have lost the readers. In retrospect I guess I could have made the struggle to get Reddy out a bit more climatic, but felt that the important thing was to show the unity of everyone in that scene. Which I feel I did, albeit in short form. Check out NEW GODS!!! The book is awesome and I am so glad I was allowed to play in that world again. I hope I didn't muck things up too much. And of course NO keeps on going. Roy's cover is awesome in so many ways and I thank you for taking the time to read and honestly respond. It means much. **** (stars) From me. [/quote]

Started reading this last night but my computer played up, so I finished it this morning (it shut down at a right cliffhanger moment!) and boy, am I glad I did! Everything about this ensemble book as just wonderful, every character gets a moment to shine, and the emotion and heart is just so apparent. Reddy's back! Batwoman's ok again! I did find that moment, near the start, when Reddy didn't want to let go of his new found "humanity" both scary and really sad, but I'm glad he's got a new body. I'm glad you enjoyed it, my friend! I tried my best to give everyone a little moment, and I really wanted to expand on Reddy's desires, but I was alread clocking in at over twenty pages. There will be a slight breather next issue, and this issue was a wrap up of sorts, and a beginning of others. Just like life. But I've always been glad and proud that you've hung around on this ride. It's always been a treat.

Second story to read this week and another great one! I loved the character of Frost in this, and Martin's story is even more compelling than Ronnie's portion.
The battle scene's were vivid and as realistic as anything you could read in the comics.
Top that with an awesome cover, and you've got a five star read here.

Couldn't agree more. Flash has come back strong and the ending blew me away. The entire issue was exceptionally well done and I was enthralled for beginning to end.
For some reason, though, I thought I've read every issue, but had no recollection that Iris was pregnant again?
5 stars on this one. Very strong out of the gate. Embracing the history that has come along before it and making it his own at the same time. This is the sign of the beginning of a great run.

Actually, I'm not sure how that works, or who monitors the questions. Or who monitors the monitors.... sorry, but joke.
Every Wednesday is a comic book day quiz, and I know that I've reported a couple of questions that have given the wrong answer.

Perfect ending to this story and the revelation of Rue was excellent. Rarely does my jaw actually drop, but Don made it happen with this revelation.
Oh Harriett, what kind of family do you have?!?! I loved the ending to this.
I agree with mockingbird that Speed is a great character, but I really love Argent and Michael.
Any chance that we will be seeing even more of Faraday in the near future? He seems to be a bit more on the sidelines since the first story arc.
This is not only an underrated book, but a highly under appreciated one. Like Suicide Squad, I look forward to this every month, and I always make sure to check out the solicits to see what is coming up next... cause I just can't wait!
Great job!

Another outstanding issue from one of our top writers. And I'm not just saying that. This issue had so many characters in it, and Susan handled them all brilliantly and effortlessly. I couldn't help but chuckle at Scalphunters first run in with Ralph and didn't think it could get any better, but then you brought in my main man! Bat is back, and his meeting with Barry was even better then Ralph and Scalphunter. So there it was, Susan had peeked. NOPE! Here comes Jonah and Hal! You have a wonderful grasp on these two and the differences between them was done perfectly. I'm a fan of this book with or without the tights, but bringing all your characters together (and I'm figuring Jonah is going to meet up with Kate, Bat and Scalp soon), is what I'm really looking forward to. 5 well deserved stars! The cover is one of my favorites of the week, but then again, Riz can do no wrong in my book! And I'm not just saying that because I'm late on a book over at DC3 . But I will end this little critique by saying... MORE BAT! MORE BAT!

Excellent issue! Of course comparing Charlie and Batkid's Nightwings would be like comparing apple's and green beans. Both are good and good for you, but are completely different in texture and taste. I love the occasional story that gives Dick the chance to reflect on what he was taught. I also enjoy flashback stories of him and Bruce together, since it's been ages since we've ever really seen the original Dynamic Duo. Excellent job, Charlie. You captured the spirit of Nightwing perfectly and once again reminded us that Dick no longer lives in the shadow of the bat... and your timing on this couldn't have been more perfect. One eency weency tiny little question/complaint. Lately it does seem that nearly every character you write has a real love of swearing... especially the GD word. Or am I imagining this? 5 stars, my friend!

Is there anything you can't write? Hell yes!: Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, The Question, Jonah Hex, JSA, and that's just off the top of my head. Thanks Roy, and glad you got that line. LOL! I'm also glad the reveal worked for you. I was very nervous about that.

Brian, I know I told you by email already but this is fantastic! I felt Bruce's horror and Selina's shock... You are a master at this. Bravo! WOW! Coming from one of the people here that I hold as a real master at this, I'm left speechless. All I can say is thank you... and I'm sorry I didn't open your email earlier. Very september 11th vibe here. Very astute, Jay. I was hoping for a bit of that feeling, especially with Wayne Tower. You are right, and I think Grant explains it best in his interview in the DC2 Nation, this week. Batman is complex for so many different reasons, and really is a contradictory. Glad you liked it. It was one of my favorite scenes. What I realized after it went up and I read it again, however, was that I may have stepped on some toes with this little revelation, and if I have, I truly apologize to those parties. It was not my intention.

I didn't thought he was uncaring. I think he wasn't caring enough. You know, I like Alfred being the one who better understands the Bat (maybe after the Joker). Kind of like in the first part of Final Crisis with Morrison over at the DCU. But like I said, personal opinion, and it didn't substract anything from the reading. I think it's great that you felt that Alfred wasn't caring enough, because that's an honest feeling and opinion that you took away from that part of the story, and one that, as I just stated, wasn't far off. Batman has about had it, James Gordon has about had it, Lord knows that the people of Gotham have had it, so why should Alfred be any different at this point... he's just as human as everyone else. LOL! Well, I did warn him. ;D

Wow...Fantastic issue. Seriously. Like I said in this week's DC2 nation, this is one of your best stories. Period. Thank you, Sir! And thank you SO much for the awefully nice things you said in the DC2 Nation. Working with you on this has been a wonderful experience and I'm very glad that you let me jump on board with you. You are really a master craftsman and I've loved every minute of it. errr... surprise? ;D Again, thank you. I honestly never wanted Alfred to come across uncaring... and now I'm REALLY glad that Mockingbird talked me out of my original scene. But just like Batman, who is being worn down by all of this, I wanted to show Alfred having those same feelings. Just as I think you are doing with James Gordon as well. This entire event is wearing down everyone, as it should be. I can't wait for issue #30 of Batman!
