Talk about covering the ages. A bit of Morrisson and a lot of silver age, all wrapped up into one great issue! You knocked them all down and brought them all back in a tight and compelling manner. Really trying to work around spoilers here, so all I'll say about a couple of guests is... WOW! Honestly didn't see the one coming nor the resolution to the other one. Hats off, to a great issue! There's a reason why you're the leader of the pack, and this once again shows it.

Oh this was so Silver Age. Silver Age all the way and a damn story behind it too. You could have got lost behind all the madness and amazing characterisation but the story rang true, and after all that... MYSTERY IN SPACE! (I'm assuming you're bringing a whole new level of mythology to you-know-who, and I just can't wait!) YES! YESSSSS! Awesome. Can't wait. Except this means that Earth War won't be seen for a few more months now... S'all good, gives it time to make you think... WTF?

Hey, great issue!
I remembr asking a long while back if you guys were going to do anything with the Silver Age Atom, and now he gets to make his DC2 debut!
This battle was awesome. I liked the scene where Ivo revealed he had to gag Hal because he wouldn't stop annoying Amazo. Heh heh, I can see that:
Hal: Hey Amazo, what's with the girdle? You're an android! Androids don't get fat!
Ivo: Alright, that's it! Amazo, gag this loudmouth! He's driving me nuts!
Aquaman: Aw, man! He was going to do his Tom Cruise impersonation!
Hal: I can't do it here, Aquaman. I need a couch to do it right.
And if the fun doesn't end, we also get the Silver Age Hawkman! Hopefully, you guys will do a lot better job with the Hawks' history than DC Comics did pre-Geoff Johns.
...and were's Hawkgirl? You can't have a Hawkman without a Hawkgirl!
Can't wait for more!

One sentence: Curse the brilliant, misshapen miscreant!
I loved it! This title showcases your talent for words! The fight was intense & spectacular, the characters were dead on & you didn't kill the Atom yet! I, for one, was surprised to see the subject of your ire actually saving the day!
And now we have the upcoming 'Mystery in Space' saga! To say I'm excited is an understatement! Am I to understand that this is a re-tooled version of the second arc of your incredible Hawkman maxi-series that never saw the light of day? If so, my excitement has just increased tenfold!
Great job! And a great cover as well!

When I read, I see it in my head and this was drawn by Dick Dillin! Great job. The thing that impresses me most is that together as a group these heroes can kinda let their hair down and do there job. It's nice to be able to do what you love to do, but to do it with friends is even better.

More brilliance, as I've practically come to expect from you David. You always keep your eye on characterization even during a blow-out battle, and every character maintains a distinct personality. A good arc to break us into the team.
Also I'm all for expanding the league so if that's going to continue keep it coming. The new member here did his job quite well, didn't he?
As has been mentioned previously there's a definite Silver Age flavor to this that I hope continues on, at least in the beginning of this title.
With that surprising cliffhanger I can't wait to see what's coming next.

This was so good, I'm thinking you are actually a DC writer that opened this site for reasons unknown.... are you?
Five stars, best issue of the week, etc...

I remember when I was a kid, Cartoon Network had commercials involving the Super Friends. This reminded me of one where the Legion of Doom has captured Wonder Woman and Aquaman, who remarks "Diana, my ability to commucinate with fish is of no use to us!" to which WW rolls her eyes. Well who's saving whose sorry butt now, huh? Arthur Curry, biyatch!
Well that was weird. Still, great issue. Nice that you brought in Hawkman and the Atom into the fold. Is anyone else invisioning a crossover with the New Outsiders in which Green Arrow and Hawkman don't stop arguing? Because I'm looking forward to it.
BTW, was Sycorax named after Caliban's dead mother from Shakespeare's "The Tempest"?

great story. Great characterization. Aquaman is the perfect choise as chairman of the League. Love it.
Batman fighting Amazo reminded me very much of Morrisons first JLA arc with the White Martians, especially the fire-scene.
Can't wait for the next issue.
Oh, and the cover... AWESOMAZINGREATERRIFICOOL!!!

And as far as the "new level of mythology" I will be bringing to Hawkman continuity--- let's just say, I will remain true to the spirit of the DCU character, but will attempt to unencumber (disencumber?) him from decades of retconning errors and confusions--- kinda like what I did for Captain Marvel (hopefully).

I have big plans for the Hawks, and this is just the beginning! (Look for Hawkman #1 coming soon!) As for the Atom, this was his costumed debut, but Ray Palmer has had two cameos already in DC2 continuity (once in the Flash, and again in Wonder Woman--- but blink and you'll miss 'em!). BTW, loved the impromptu scene youu sketched out--- why aren't you on the Powers, Inc. team?

Great job! And a great cover as well! It was a struggle to keep the Atom alive until the issue's end--- but the League is about to embark on a crazy adventure, so maybe I'll get lucky and somebody will step on the little b@a$t@rd (or a bird will eat him, or something)! ;D To answer your second question, the rest of The Immortal Legend of Hawkman will indeed see the light of day eventually, but the stuff coming up is a progression from it, not a re-tooling (I just got tired of waiting, so the cart is coming before the horse--- I think I can make it work!). And about the cover--- Adam Tupper is a versatile, crazy-drawing genius! He really made that scene come alive. My goal is to drive him crazy him by giving him dozens of characters to squeeze onto his next cover!

BTW, loved the impromptu scene youu sketched out--- why aren't you on the Powers, Inc. team? actually to be on team powers, one must fill out a lengthy application created by a very lonely welcsh boy and then have a very intense interview in a dark room with a man somewhere in the midwest that looks like he's a welsch boy very adult man and finally go through a rigourous training session where ones wit and laziness are tested to the brink and only then will one join a very elite club known as Team Powers... and you need to be fitted for a members only jacket...

It's true. It's a very lengthy application. We had to reject Brandon because he couldn't get past the first question... Damn, that was a dark day for the DC2...

I think the Silver Age informs much of what we do here at the DC2, but I hope we can bring a modern sensibility to these classic characters as well. Oh, and the League will definately expand, but the the core will always be the Big Seven, the World's Greatest Heroes! Oh, and, all kidding aside, the Atom scenes were fun to write!

very cool, old school superhero story. Although I cannot remember the last time Iread a story that used the word "spake"! That's me in more of my whimsical mood (Didn't anyone notice I named a chapter "Can You Hear Me Now...?"). Although, "spake" feels right for Aquaman. Green Lantern or the Flash, on the other hand, would never spake. Wonder Woman maybe, or the Martian Manhunter... but not Batman or Superman, either. It's important to think about these things. This is me in yet another whimsical mood...
