I voted to keep them, but can I change my vote? When I look away from the screen after being on the board, my eyes hurt. And despite my name, I'm not joking.

They take a bit of getting used to, but I say we keep them. There's just something about them that feels right for this place.

what does it look like if you look at it with a pair of 3D glasses?

Suddenly I wish I had a pair of 3D glasses just to check out that effect...

I think I've already posted but I don't think I've said this before so meh!
I like these colors. At first, I didn't think I did and now I do. They have become the DC2's colors and I think they should stay.

I tend to agree... They just feel right!

I'm used to 'em now, and always have been I guess. It'd be awkward to change them now! So keep voting for the better!

Everyone has pretty much said everything, but I'd say you don't need to change the colors, just uh...dim them/mute them/darken them a little (whichever one fits). Keep the blue and red, just not as vibrant.

I would say change them purely because is makes posting micros easier but that is me being lazy. If I change the white in my micros to ridicoulously light grey then it still works so it looks fine (compare the micros on page 3 to page 1 of my gallery). I actually agree these are DC2 colours and shouldn't be changed....however maybe a bit duller?

It's more so the contrast of the yellow to the red deal. Also the black background is kinda bleak.

So this is my first post here, and I'd have to say I'd prefer white boxes with black text. It's just easier to read. I personally have problems reading text from a screen for too long and it'd be a real help if suff was calmer on the eyes.
You may be scaring off some readers with the colour scheme.

Try hitting the "Print" key on the top right (and also on the bottom right) of each thread, which doesn't actually print (because that would be far too obvious) but changes the text to black on white.

I say change them.
I do on the other hand get asked at school or Lab what I'm looking at, so people come around cause of the colors. ;D
Having said that, I usually copy and paste so that I can save my eyes for Art School.

From the start they've been like this, and I don't see the point of changing them right now. They shout at me "DC2", and if we swap 'em for something a little bit more safer, the change'll be jarring. I say keep 'em, and that'll be my opinion from now till I leave the site. Then you can do whatever the hell you like!

I said yeah now I say nay. They grow on you and changing them would mean unDC2ing it.

While I've gotten used to the colours I'd still vote for the change them option, purely on the basis that we might be losing readers because of them (readers that therefore won't have voted in this poll which brings into question the validity of the results anyway).

But the majority of people have voted to keep them, because they're so awesome, meaning... Why change them? They're the colours of the DC2. That's my thinking.

Well, over 40% of people did vote to change them, so it's not totally improbable that some people may have been turned off this site by the colours (the first time I visited the site, I left pretty much straight away due to the colours before being lured back several months later). If some people aren't sticking around for that reason (which might not be the case - I'm hardly a typical reader) then changing the site colours could actually increase the readership (first impressions are important). Of course, as always, I could be totally wrong.

I've done a bit of research and it appears that if you've got more than one skin (i.e. colour scheme) defined on proboards then the Modify Profile page gives members an extra "Select Skin" option.
Therefore the simplest solution would seem to be to just create one or more extra skins, leaving the lovely red and blue version as the default and then members would have the perk of changing to a different colour scheme if they wanted to. I can't see any obvious drawbacks to this apart from the loss of invisible text since different users might have different background colours.

I think that's a good idea. Maybe have different moderators/artists design different skins (a handful at least) and that'll give the site some kind of customiziable feel to it for site members.

This question's been kicking around for a while, so I thought I would put it to the community-at-large. The argument: The colors are classic DC. They are bright and vibrant and instantly bring to mind Superman and Wonder Woman, two of our flagship characters. However, they may be too bright, and distract the eye from site content, making it downright difficult to view at times! So, c'mon everyone! Here's your opportunity to make a difference at the DC2: cast your vote and let us know what you think! It is difficult to read sometimes, however, I've seen worse, lol. Perhaps if you make the type a different color, maybe black, it might make it easier to read.

Well, moderators here don't have the ability to create new skins. However, if anyone wants to try making some different skins, I've set up a new message board which you can get to by CLICKING HERE. If you login as user test, password test123, you should have permission to select "admin" from the top menu and thereafter create skins to your heart's content. I've set up a few already (that can be selected via the select skin option at the modify profile page), although hopefully those possessing any artistic ability should easily be able to surpass my efforts.

For those interested, our esteemed Art Director, Ramon, has hooked up some alternative skins you can use to customize how the site appears in your browser. Only a few up but check them out and give us some feedback!

"And how do I access these 'skins'?" When you modify your profile, you have an option near the bottom for skins. Black and white probably gives you a "Sin City" experience

Hall with the lights dimmed works, but I'm a sucker for green stuff myself. Will have to check out that custom skin link later.

I'm glad you bring that up because I actually plan to work in character themed skins down the line when i have banners and backgrounds drawn up for enough. obviously first up would be batman and superman (the latter being just a modified background and banner) but eventually i will try and get in aquaman, flash, green arrow and the green lantern or whoever else people think should get one. if anyone feels strongly about it, pm me on ideas or whatever.
