This question's been kicking around for a while, so I thought I would put it to the community-at-large.
The argument: The colors are classic DC. They are bright and vibrant and instantly bring to mind Superman and Wonder Woman, two of our flagship characters. However, they may be too bright, and distract the eye from site content, making it downright difficult to view at times!
So, c'mon everyone! Here's your opportunity to make a difference at the DC2: cast your vote and let us know what you think!

I'll stick with these, but in all honesty I print them out and read them and then put them in their own file folders. So either way is fine.

The colours are bright, but easy enough to read in small doses. I read some of the issues in printer friendly format, so there is that option, which converts the issues to black text on white.
And the colours really are throwback to the silver age comics (to me anyway).

When the colors were first set I was concerned about them being a bit bright, but over the last few months I've been here so much that I don't notice it anymore at all. BUT this is a complaint I have heard a few times by members. I would hate to lose readership because of it. The only other concern is that I have noticed that once or twice is has effected the presentation of the artwork. The Flash cover for example came off as a bold cover I thought, but when it wound up on a red background for its post it was almost overpowering. I think there were even a few comments there like "holy jesus christmas that's bright!" Ha.
I would say that if they were to change at all it would be to only take the colors down a shade or two, well maybe just the red actually. Certainly don't go too dark though because I do think the colors work well for instantly conveying "Superheroes!"

I've just noticed my eyes water whenever I look at the screen for too long...
Keep 'em, I don't need my eyes.

I too copy and file away the stories to read them so it doesn't bother me too much. On the other hand, my wife sat down next to me at the computer and said "holy jesus christmas that's bright!" So I had to vote to change it. But I like the idea of toning it down a bit because I do like the "superheroes" message it conveys and wouldn't want it to change too much. I am of the belief that the quality of the stories(including art) and the good company here will bring people back no matter what it looks like.

My vote is to change 'em... I honestly can't read on the site for too long, it gives me a headache. I have to print & read.

A suggestion:- You make them a bit darker... the red hurts, the blue is ok, but make them darker, and the text brighter...

Maybe we should give each board their own color scheme that reflects the characters:
Superman (and Action Comics) - The red and blue with yellow text
Wonder Woman - Blue and Red with white text
Batman (and Detective Comics) - Gray and black with yellow text
Aquaman - Dark orange and dark green with yellow text
Flash - Red and yellow with white text
GL Corps - Green and black with white text
Hawkman - Dark yellow and dark gray with white text
Weird Western Quarterly - Brown and gray with yellow text
Question - Dark blue and black with yellow text
I'm not sure what colors for the others.

An interesting and innovative idea, but maybe it would be simpler to come up with a striking and streamlined design that can run throughout the board...

The colors don't bother me at first, but if I try to read more than one issue my eyes begin to ache. It wouldn't hurt to tone them down.

Making the boards individualized wouldn't be a bad idea, but I think colors like yellow or light green on top of black would make it worse.

Please change them . . . It's impossible for me to read the stories without copying them and pasting them somewhere else. The yellow text blares against the blue background and fades into the red one. I love the site concept, but my eyes are in pain!

LadyM: Some have said that they hit the print button at the top and it coverts the pages to black and white text if that is easier for you to read.

I still agree that the colors are a little harsh. But some wanted a certain look which I think is achieved with the current color scheme. I didn't know that the print button would do that! Holy Crap it was like reading off the internet like they had to in the 50's. OK, I am not stupid I know they had color monitors in the 50's so don't even bring it up. Oh yes, come aboard, we're expecting you...........

At my advanced years and shortening attention span the red is killing me to where I'm skiming rapidly. Of course my lazy reading habits aren't helping. I'm staying loyal to Weird Western and Suzie fan girl but Suicide Squad is challenging my priorities.

Mtpspur: One recommendation is to hit the print button at the top of the page for the story and it will give you a print-ready page that is standard black letters on white. Or you can just go ahead and print and read it on paper like me.

That's what I do... I've been trying to stay on the boards longer... but my eyes start bleeding & it just adds even more red to an already red filled page.
